Jumanji: The Next Level

I mean, it went up against a Star Wars movie last time and turned out fine. It had an amazing multiplier.

Yes, which just showed how bad the backlash was to TLJ. Not that Jumanji wasn't successful in it's own right. It totally was. But that might have been a lightning in a bottle moment. Rarely do sequels to well liked films open around the same amount, and then leg it out. The movies that grow on the last one must open legitimately higher. If this opens to 40/50m what are the chances this movie legs it to 400m with Star Wars and Frozen II over the holiday season?

It's not going to bomb, but this could get really interesting.

Again, holidays are a different beast. It will definitely open bigger. But, I imagine the legs, while still good, will be less.

Yes. I don’t think you can judge this movie by opening weekend. Also, Jumanji seems to be a better 4 quadrant movie than Star Wars.

It's really, really, really not.

Holidays are a different beast. But the first had ridiculous legs and by that very metric, this one should be more front loaded. Not completely front loaded, again the holidays.

An actor saying they’re retiring then a few years later changes their mind.

am guessing this will end up around $700 - $750m ww.
Hope I'm wrong as I love the previous one, but I don't see this getting close to it in terms of BO.

The domestic pre-sales have recovered nicely over the last couple of days. Decent reviews as well. Let's see how it does this weekend.

Just got out, it's a good time same as the original. They switch it up just enough so it's not a retread but you will be lost as **** if you haven't seen the first.

Yep, I'd say it's about equal to the first, if not a little worse only because it didn't feel fresh.
The credits scene was great though imo.

My 5 year old loved the last one n the old one but im hearing there is an excessive amount of cussing this time. True?

There was a lot of cussing in the last one.

Yeah, I didn't notice an uptick in cussing from the previous one.

Also,
I'm assuming the characters made their way to the real world too? I can't see them making the next one without the Rock, Hart or Gillan

Saw this tonight and it was a good time. Anyone who liked the previous movie should like this one too!

Personally I thought this one was more hilarious, seemed like it had more one-liners too. As a long-time gamer though, I feel like the filmmakers could have packed more gaming tropes into it. I get the feeling that these recent "gaming"-inspired movies like the recent Jumanji ones, Ready Player One, and even Wreck It Ralph aren't really being made by anyone who's actually a gamer and genuine fan of the medium, because none of them have really taken advantage of what more they could be. Definitely still some untapped potential with movies like these that are based on gaming in general, but so far haven't made me feel like the experience of playing a game was being translated to the screen.

I felt like this one was basically Uncharted.

I would say this movie more or less is kind of the same thing as the last one, only this time it kind of feels a little more played out. I think they could have gone further with the glitch gimmick, but as it stands it is an enjoyable movie. I'd say the last one was better simply because this movie more or less kind of feels like the same movie, and therefore feels played out as a result of that. But overall it's a solid movie

I’ll be happy if it’s as good as the previous film.
