Jurassic Park IV - Part 1

I love the first book, but I also love the first film and it is a big part of my childhood. So for me it would be akin to rebooting something like Indiana Jones. I mean I gotta ask why Spielberg would want to reboot one of his own films. Especially a film that holds one of Stan Winston's greatest achievements. For me the animatronics, score, atmosphere, cast, and direction is perfect. Can't see how rebooting it will do anything but be a cash grab. I'm just surprised so many are in board for a reboot of a film that left a lot of children and adults in awe. When I think of reboots or remakes Jurassic Park hasn't ever fallen into that category and always seemed safe.

If its just about wanting a closer adaption of the book well it was an adaption and things are going to be different. And another adaption of the book would essentially scrap the original and be like saying the original wasn't good enough or was wrong in some way.

Making a reboot doesn't have to be a bad thing. Especially after 20 years.

Also, it had crappy sequels. It would be one thing if it was a one-of-a-kind stand alone movie. But no, they actually brought back some of the actors to do two really subpar sequels.

So yeah... After II and III, you can really only go up. Okay, you can go down, but you'd have to try.

I know this is a common misconception, but a reboot or remake doesn't, in fact, erase the previous version from existence. The more you know.

Upon further watches, JP2 is a fantastic movie with more noticeable flaws than the first. Still great, just not as good.

Really? The movie where basically, everything bad happens because the protagonists keep doing really dumb things (which trained professionals (which they are supposed to be) wouldn't do)? I liked the Nostalgia Critic's review, because it pointed out most of the problems in the movie.

Though I really disliked the film because it was subpar, and pulled its premises out of its ass. Good news everyone, there is a second island full of dinosaurs. We just never got around to mentioning it in the first movie.

At the very least it's an entertaining watch and more Jeff Goldblum is never a bad thing. Sure it's got some crappy moments but it's still much more of a thinker than the third.

I used to think that The Lost World was pretty underrated, then I watched it for the first time in a long time fairly recently and I was disappointed to find out it's actually pretty bad. :/

Nostalgia Critic of this film? I don't think the movie is close to perfect, but talk about a ****ing nitpicker. 27 minutes? Really?

Lets hope they come up with a good story for this one.

However. How did the car get thrown into the tree, after the good guys release the dinosaurs in captivity? I never got that.

On his other notes, the T-Rex struggling to keep up with the huddled mass after the tent scene, the Hunters not knowing what the species names were, the scary snake.. lol, Jeff Goldblum's acting, the boat scene (the hand anyone??), and the end in which he talks about a lack of adventure and wonder - I agreed with.

I enjoy JP2/JP3 for what they were, but I cant help but be disappointed in them, especially TLW. The book was great, and the movie was...well. Not.

I've always been torn on a remake/reboot of the first, however.

I know that and I'm fine with remakes and reboots 99% of the time. However I do think it is an insult to a film that is highly regarded. I've never heard bad word of mouth until I came on here and most of the complaints seem to be adaption issues or the characters making dumb decisions. What does Malcom go on and on about in the film? Chaos theory and life finding a way and that something always goes wrong and that Hammond has no respect for the power he wields. The rest of the movie are these ideas coming to reality. Of course Hammond is going to make dumb decisions. Hes an eccentric billionair. Ellie is rational except when under stress. Grant performs well considering. The children can **** off lol. Hate them.

This is a Spielberg film and it is a film that blew minds with its special effects and wonder. I'm not oblivious to the flaws but I am also not oblivious to the films achievements. This is a film that doesn't need a remake or reboot.

Oh and the Lost World is very close to being **** so I prefer to ignore it. JP3 well its a decent time killer and spinosaurus is awesome so I can forgive it. Honestly I wish they could come up with a follow up to JP that ignores both Lost World and JP3.

If this is about potentially insulting the first film, I'd take more issue with the second and third movies, than any reboot. The reboot could be a decent movie. Maybe even good.

If they're going to make another Jurassic Park movie, I'd much rather have a reboot, than something following up on two bad films, 20 years after the original.

I agree. I think that they can nail just as much wonder and amazement, and focus less on the monster movie aspect of it.

This is verbatim how I feel.

It's been twenty years. So, you'd have to write a story where dinosaurs were cloned in the early 90's, and... have been around for more than 20 years (by the time this movie comes out). Kind of takes away that "wow, look dinosaurs" thing they had going.

Hell, most of the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park will have died from old age.

Though now I do have an amusing mental image of a T. rex chasing people with a walker.

I probably won't bother watching a reboot of Jurassic Park unless they try and be much more accurate to the book.

I love the original film and I don't need another great film but not the book to watch.

I like no2, and I think no3 is beyond crap. But none of them destroyed the mythos, imo. They were mostly standalone adventures and a JP4 makes more sense than a reboot to me.

It's not like the Omen movies, where they ruined Damien's story.

Number there has no depth, it's just people running away from dinosaurs.

It's TV movie level at best. At least JP2 is directed by Spielberg and its Goldblum seems like he's having fun being a part of the movie, unlike Neill in JP3.

i don't know how i would feel about a Jurassic Park reboot. the original film still holds up very well and i dare say it was one of the best book to screen adaptions of a popular novel. sure, there were several changes in characters' personalities and their outcomes but it was still done well.

if the reboot were done differently and was exactly like the book, then i might be interested.

Neill's Alan Grant was far superior to the one in the book, imo. Same goes for Goldblum's Ian Malcolm. And the CGI in JP are still some of the best ever.
