I've seen it twice and it is a definite 9/10 for me. I've been excited, and I was sure my excitement would get the best of me, but it was well worth the wait. There were some flaws, and some places the CGI could've been better, but overall, it was an extremely awesome film, only surpassed by the original JP in the series.

Yea there were some gruesome deaths here.
Claire's assistant's death with pretty brutal. As well as some of the folks killed by the I- Rex and Raptors.

How about that guy who got stabbed by the Pteranodon? I was no expecting that at all.

Also, while a lot of people ended up feeling sorry for Zara because of her death, what about Masrani? He was basically another Hammond and even had some better ideas and wanted to take responsibility and confront Wu for what he was doing. The look on his face when he realizes the chopper is crashing is heartbreaking.

Could someone tell me how much screen time does Claire's assist get?

I didn't count, but it's definitely not much. Ten-fifteen minutes?

That's more then I expected. :yay:

If I had to guess, not even that much.

She's on the dock to pick up the boys, and appears during their opening montage of seeing the park. We see her again with the boys meeting Claire at the Innovation Center. We see her for a couple minutes until the boys flee the at the petting zoo.
After that, we hear her on the phone when all the rides are shutting down. And the lastly we see her meet up with the boys on the board walk before she's picked up by the Pteranodons.

Watched the movie. I am a little disappointed. There were some great scenes, but as a movie it was not that great.

Jurassic Park: 10/10
The Lost World: Jurassic Park: 8/10
Jurassic World: 7/10
Jurassic Park III: 6.5/10

Still more then I expected. I have a bit of a crush on Katie McGrath, and I have never actually seen her on the big screen. Having a few family troubles right now, so I don't know exactly when I will get a chance to see this. Thank you for the info guys.

I truly don't believe it's that much. Maybe 5 minutes, imo.

And I really enjoyed this movie. It's weird, because it doesn't have nearly the craftsmanship of the 1st (obviously) OR TLW, and frankly, I thought the visuals were mostly terrible and the script was godawful. BUT every now and then it had some of that magic that just brought me back and put a smile on my face the way only Mad Max has done this year.

While most of the humans pretty much sucked, Pratt continues his streak of super-likable performances. This is also the 1st time I've thought, "eh, I could kinda see it" with regards to those Indiana Jones rumors for him, as his character here was legitimately intelligent, resourceful and somewhat stoic. Jake Johnson actually fared pretty well here, too, imo. So that's two humans I didn't want to see eaten, which is more than I can say for JP3.

And yes, the last 20 minutes are fabulous. I have to say though, I really feel sorry for [blackout]Blue, now a raptor without a pack. Raptors aren't meant to be loners[/blackout]!

While it obviously can't hold a candle to the original, this is easily my favorite of the sequels. Didn't have Spielberg's craftsmanship from TLW, but made up for it by being a lot more fun. On first watch, I'd give it an 8/10. I'll probably see it again Sunday on IMAX.

Btw, after all this...I would still go to that park in a heartbeat. :D

Now that people are seeing it, can I just reiterate how gruesome the [blackout]death of Zara was? Swallowed whole and alive in the belly of a giant beast's digestive track? Only Eddie Carr and Dieter might have gotten it worse.[/blackout]

the reign champion death sequence in the franchise series still is the Original with The Tex eating the blood sucking lawyer Donald whole.

Courageous.
I wouldn't step foot in that place for all the tea in China.

Well I figure, even roller coasters lead to deadly disasters every now and then. My odds are probably no worse in JWorld than, say, skydiving. So if it's my time, it's my time, lol.

It sounds like one of those movies that hits you right in the nostalgia, that even if it isn't great, it will make you smile. Good enough for me right now. :yay:

8.75/10

I cannot decide if I want to give JW a 8.5 or a 9, but I guess I will find out tomorrow!

8/10

The first and second acts were good for me, but I really thought the film kept taking a step back with the various subplots it was trying to juggle. However, the final act brought it home with the classic Jurassic Park feel, and I completely felt like I did as a kid when I watched Jurassic Park for the first time.

Jurassic Park is one of the reasons I fell in love with jeeps as a kid, so seeing the Sahara brought out the fanboy in me :yay:

Overall, a very enjoyable experience and I definitely think I will be seeing it again. I certainly understand the mixed reviews, but I think most fans will be happy with the film.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up, and that was more than good enough for me.

EDIT: Holy cow, I just checked the box office for this thing. It's blowing all expectations outta the water!! :wow:

I just came back from my third viewing in two days... It sits at a solid 8.5 close to 9 of 10 in my book.

Indominus was menacing, literally frightening parents in my most recent screening.

I loved how this pack of raptops differentiated themselves from the wild menacing pack we got in the originals. Just goes to show that Owen imprinting on them since birth can go along way. That was really neat to see and compare.

Khan's character was interesting, i would have loved to see more of him. Maybe dive into the relationship he had with Hammond, why exactly Hammond chose him to fulfill his last dying wish. I loved how he was so sincere on wanting the park to live up to want Hammond would have wanted.

Oh, and InGen is still a group a d-bags.

They marketed the film perfectly the last few months, and they are reaping the rewards.

Glad I'm not the only one who's thinking this. Using your point, I'd like to say that I want to see more tie-in material that bridges the movies together(preferably comic format). I'd like to know what happened from point A(JP 1) to point B(JW). I got the feeling Jake Johnson's character was implying that [BLACKOUT]there were more incidents when he was explaining about his buying of his T-Shirt.[/BLACKOUT]

I'd like to see how they got to where they are. Speaking of, weren't there any decent old Jurassic Park comics out there? I'm looking to dig for some more old fossils to entertain myself with.

So I was really interested how much money this movie would make with it being 14 years since the last one and having 3d and with the way the international market as grown since then. I am starting to think this movie could make like 400 USA and like a billion WW. Just like 2 days ago it was predicted that the movie would make between 120-125 OW. Now today it made more then people thought it would and now they are predicting that it is going to make 175-180 and maybe even 190. To go from that prediction of 120-125 and now to be looking at something more like 175-180 maybe 190 is a big difference and I think that shows that people where underestimating just how much that 14 year gap created hype for this movie.

I had been saying for a while that I didn't think star wars was going to make as much has people say because of just how bad episode 1 and 2 where. But both Jurassic and star wars are big franchise where the last few movies where not as good yet Jurassic world is making a lot even after 2 and 3 so there are some similarities between Jurassic and star wars and I think I underestimated just how much the 10 year gap from star wars 3 to 7 is going to help create Hype for that movie.

Well this was awesome. Can't wait to see it again.

I was pretty underwhelmed, to be honest. I went in with low expectations and even those weren't met.

I made peace with the idea that there would be a lot of CGI. There was, but it wasn't the abundance of that which ruined the movie for me; it was the lack of peril.

Remember in "Jurassic Park" where Laura Dern had to run like 15 yards to the shed? It was suspenseful as hell. In this, characters are running all over the place and there was zero danger when they did. They were never out of their element. They always knew what to do. In the original, the kids were bloodied and covered in mud after the scene with the T-Rex. Tim got electrocuted! You knew they'd make it out alive, but you weren't 100% sure. In this, I believe the younger kid got a scrape on the chin.

I'm glad the raptors were a threat, but they were still reduced to the minimum amount of menace. At the end, I was expecting the raptor to give Pratt a thumbs up before disappearing into the jungle.

Here's some of my thoughts.

I've spoiler tagged the whole thing just to be safe.

I liked the first two acts - especially the first with the two boys arriving at the island and seeing all the working attractions. When they first got off the boat and walked out onto the balcony to reveal the main area, with the Jurassic Park theme playing, I genuinely nearly cried. I didn't expect that, but I found it beautiful and nostalgic. And also to think this place isn't going to last.

The island and the new main park area is gorgeous. The imagery from the helicopter sequences are spot on, too.

I liked the build of up of i-Rex, both with the egg hatching sequence at the start, and viewing it from behind the glass before it escaped. Masrani was a great character, and I enjoyed him very much. It's a shame he didn't have more to do, but I understand their plot reasons for killing him. To let Hoskins take over and do his thing as the 'villain'.

The casting decisions were good, I think. Pratt and Dallas Howard worked well together. I like that they actually shot dinosaurs here this time, mainly during the Pterosaur escape. I think the trained raptor angle worked for the most part - however I thought aspects of this felt off at times. Like the T-Rex after Claire stands at the open gate, simply following the flare and not going for the kill, for example.

I didn't find the last act as crowd pleasing as other people, to be honest. I didn't like the CGI of the T-Rex as much as I would've hoped. However I thought the final fight was technically sound in the sense it didn't undersell the threat of the i-Rex. It was engineered to be stronger and bigger than a T-Rex afterall, and our girl was much older. I'm totally fine with the Mosasaurus taking it down. And I found the moment when Blue appears at the end perhaps a little too cheesy, and the glares it and Owen share before it runs off maybe too 'human' for my liking.

I still think The Lost World is the best sequel to the original - none of the set pieces here come close to the trailers dangling over the cliff, or the long grass raptor hunt in my opinion. And I think Spielberg crafted a superior atmosphere in his two entries.

But make no mistake, JW is a worthy entry in the franchise.

It has more going for it than against.
