A lot of the sequences with the I-Rex looked amazing, the effects were spot on. The sequence that reaffirmed how great everything looked, to me, was the sequence in which the kids are introduced to the I-Rex. You have to watch the film to understand, but combination of practical to cg effects was brilliant and you could really see the I-Rex thinking with it's movements and sounds. Just really well done.

Thought it was dumb fun, but was disappointed in the lack of suspense and set pieces that usually drive this franchise even in the sequels. I thought the concept of having an open park with attractions was greatly underused.

6.5/10

-Cannot hold down a relationship/family because of her career.
-Humorless stick in the mud, because that makes her "strong."
-Needs beefy man/trauma to loosen her up.
-Rushed/unconvincing romance.

Agree with points 3 and 4 (Brutasha is going to have competition from Owen and Claire for the 2015 award for most pointless romance :oldrazz:). But the writers were trying to show Claire as a control freak and she referred to being in control numerous times. What happened removed any sense of control she had and the writers wanted to use this to drive the change in her character. Not saying they did this well, but you can see their intentions for her character.

And I am sure all those that gave Joss crap will be apologizing about this..
Whedon and Treverrow could both learn A LOT from George Miller about how to write female characters.

what? Is this solely based on Mad Max? Whedon has a long history of writing great female characters.
in the past like month, there has been a huge backlash against Whedon and an insane outpouring of love for Miller, both based on one movie.

As a Buffy fan, I wouldn't say that. I mean I know that was the general feeling, but going back and watching Buffy or Firefly now, well yeah.

I agree. Yes, she was a high-powered professional corporate woman who gave orders and ran the park, but why couldn't she have been all of that without also being this uptight stick in the mud who needs a hunky dude-bro to loosen her up?

It perpetuated negative stereotypes of independent professional woman.

And a completely inaccurate stereotype in particular. I say this from first hand experience, both in my firm and clients. High powered female professionals are regular people who don't need to taught to let their hair down. In my experience, it tends to be the opposite with professionals of both genders due to the stresses of the job. People drink and let loose as a way to cope with the stress.

Yeah, on top of his tv work Whedon wrote what I would call the strongest iterations of Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost in comics. I don't get this recent backlash. But that's what happens when you reach this pop culture peak with current social media I guess.

That's my experience as well.

High-powered female professionals are the sort of "take charge " type when it comes to letting loose. Claire casually hitting on Owen probably would have been closer to the actual mark.

It was ok. It could have been a lot better and I didn't like that made-up dinosaur. I don't understand why they have to put something like that in the movie. Normal dinosaurs are a lot more interesting. Also they could have used the theme song more. :)

Mostly consistently great, some small moments here and there that looked slightly off. The use of animatronics is definitely in the film, with the raptops, i-rex, and some others that looked terrific. Don't let some complaints twist things, this is the best looking Jurassic film yet.
Oh right, thanks.

Anyone grab the Lego game yet?
I picked it up. It's pretty fun. Definitely one of the better Lego games I've played. The one weird thing is that half the characters' audio are pulled from the movie and the rest are sound-alike voice actors.

Does Omar Sy's character die?

Not from what I remember.
When the raptors are attacking, he goes to hide in a hollowed log and a raptor tries to break in. Owen gets its attention and it chases him.
I don't remember if we see Sy's character after that.

What do you guys think the HISHE folk are going to poke fun at? Bryce Dallas Howard
in heels 24/7 is probably one thing.

This movie was EPIC! I went in expecting something good and got something great...so many perfect throwback moments to the first while providing a new & fresh feel. I give it an A+....and imo the kids weren't as annoying as I thought they'd be, acting was actually very good.

One of the few times a sequel has came over a decade later than expected & has actually delivered the goods.
