It's a wild, half-baked, unlikely theory, but it's got to be broached. I'm sure someone else already has. But in the wake of the series finale, it seems that much more possible/potential for some reason.

One or two comments from one or two interviews have seemed to leave some possibility of seeing *these* characters in some capacity again. I even read one analysis/article asking the question of a Smallville movie or tv movies.

Then the whole Justice League 2013 film comes back to my mind. How much they worked on the Justice League in Smallville, much more than you'd ever think they would.

Then the fact that they're (apparently) going to have two concurrent but separate Superman's on film within six months of each other? Which makes little sense, unless you accept that... for a portion of the the current under 30-ish generation, Welling is Superman. And that, having some many people play the role in such a (relatively) short span is just... odd? Welling from 2001-2011, Routh in the middle of it 2006, Cavill in 2012, and then some OTHER guy on top in 2013?

Now Routh was a financial/critical dud... Welling never delivered sky-rocket ratings, but they show did last an entire damned decade... so he does have some proven success/viability/longevity...

What if they're thinking of taking two or three elements from the Smallville justice league and adapting them to film, without really focusing too much on the back-story of it?

I mean, they just throw us into a Justice League film that happens to feature Tom Welling as Superman. Perhaps Justin Hartley as Green Arrow, subbing in as the 'only human without powers' role Batman normally takes -- which would keep Chris Nolan happy enough to stay on as Batman film producer? I'm unsure if they would want someone as "old" as Phil Morris as John Jones/Martian Manhunter, but such does offer the ethnic diversity they would be seeking.

They could, for the purposes of said film, gloss over Lois and so on and so forth, as it's not a straight Superman film. Bring in some other non-Hal Jordan green lantern (although, having green arrow and green lantern together could be... confusing to non-fans)

Since the Wonder Woman pilot didn't get picked up, they could do anything they wish with her inclusion. I'd certainly see them having Hawk Girl or some such in there, for extra female.

I dunno, it's totally crazy, right? Implausible to the Nth degree? Right?

Maybe, just maybe, it's the real reason they didn't give us a full-on look at Welling in the suit... cause they're gonna keep teasing us until the movie!! :oldrazz:

Makes sense to me...I'm with ya Brother!: Besides...Cavill can't be in two place at once.:cwink:

It won't happen but I wouldn't be shocked to see Tom Welling be considered for the Superman role in that film.

I'm with u too. Make it happen WB. Then maybe Justin would still be Green Arrow.

id be all for it, there was a rumor floating around last night that a superman spin off could happen with welling, not sure if that's true or not?

I think they'd want star power for the film, if people didn't tune in to watch them in Smallville then I doubt that they'll be enticed into paying money to watch them on the big screen.

As for the Superman spin off idea, I don't see the point tbh, Clark has already taken on and beaten his most prominent foes.

Where did this come from? Who said it?

I dont think anyone posted a source.

Routh being an unknown wasn't exactly a part of a dud. The numbers the movie did just weren't enough to bank on Singer again(and thus his cast).

Smallville has stayed on the air due to stubbornness. The CW needed a show that had staying power. This show was not lost.

Honestly fans of Smallville think the show is really that popular, it really just isn't. Most people who know Smallville tuned in the first few seasons. They have no clear about the later years.

Well, i expected the smallville finalle to have tons of viewers but it seems like it didn't even have the highest rating of the season.

why are the ratings soo important? the show is over.

To see if the show is still popular, or if people cared to see how these 10 seasons were going to end.
For example, malcom in the middle 7th season had very weak ratings but the finalle had almost as much as the seinfeld finalle.

no please. the show is finally done and good ridance. no more smallville for god's sake. it was bad enough to have it, no more.
had to wait this long for it to go away don't make me wait for a movie to go away too.

We also had to wait this long for you to leave, thank goodness the time has arrived, goodbye, lol.

No thanks. Let the abortions that were 90% of the DCU characters in this show die with it. I want to see the real Justice League if we ever get a movie.

I have this crazy idea...

If you people don't want to see a "Smallville" movie (that will most likely not happen) then... Don't F***in watch it!

I don't want to see it, but unlike having a Flash movie and a Wonder Woman movie and an Aquaman movie and etc. where all of those movies are not dependent on the other ones not existing (i.e. if they make an Aquaman movie, they can still make a Wonder Woman movie somewhat soon to then), this is a Justice League/Superman movie, and a Smallville version of those would prevent a REAL portrayal from hitting screens sometime soon. So it's irrelavant that I don't want to see a Smallville JL movie, it's because I want to see an actual Justice League movie where the characters I know and love are portrayed the way they're meant to be.

So anything Justice League related that comes on tv will prevent ANY film version? Is that what you're saying?

If it's a TV movie, then I can ignore it, but reread the first post. There's passing mention of a TV movie there, but most of it is major motion picture talk.

I don't get people like this why are u waiting for it to go away if u don't like it just don't watch it. I here so many people saying how there glade it's over finally but all you have to do is not watch it and there it's gone for good. IMO this show was great for what it was a show about Clark becoming superman and Tom Welling will always be the perfect sups for me. I'm quite sad it's over :(

I can't see how they can make a Smallville JL movie when Welling refuses to wear the Suit, and it is not happening because there is no star power attached in the rest of cast to justify the big budget.

Smallville was good in its own right, but it's time to move on.

I just want to see post-memory wipe Lex now. It teases me almost as much as Hurley and Ben protecting the island after the events of "Lost" did.

Probably wont be. And I still doubt if jl film will happen any time soon. Look how long its taking dce to get anything up and going.

The CW didnt even exist when SR was in production/theaters. It didnt even launch until the Fall of 2006 (Smallville's 6th season). So I'm, not sure where you're getting that?

Smallville had the highest ratings on it's Network, was one of the top DVR'd shows every year of it's run, and was usually in the Top 10 of iTunes downloads and DVD/Blu-Ray sales. It's also aired in about 50 different countries and syndicated all over the place. There are more factors at play these days then the overnight ratings. Otherwise, it never wouldve made it past Season 4. The series stayed on the air because it's been a cash cow for Warner Brothers. It's popularity is obvious from it's longevity.

That's likely how the next successful superhero series is going to work. We've seen that they dont work on major networks because they seem to screw with them too much. You need a smaller broadcast or cable network that can afford to take some chances and build a dedicated fanbase in the low millions of viewers, and be happy with the recurring revenue that comes form that.
