I know the issue has been brought up several times before, but this needs to happen. Okay, it doesnt necessarily need to happen, but it would be the best thing ever.
Let's face facts, Smallville is very close to being out of gas. John Schneider, Annette O'Toole, Michael Rosenbaum, John Glover and Kristin Kreuk are gone. Allison Mack was, like, an inch away from leaving with KK and MR last season. Al and Miles left. It's time give the show a good ending before it gets dragged on until the end of time.
However, the Cw doesnt need to be completely without a superhero series in the smallvilleverse. What better series to replace the rise of Superman, than the rise of the Justice League?
The series would star Justin Hartley (Green Arrow), Kyle Gallner (Impulse), Alan Ritchson (Aquaman), Lee Thompson Young (Cyborg), Aliana Huffman (Black Canary) and Phil Morris (J'onn J'onzz). And possibly the new girl they have to play Maxima, depending on what will happen with the character. The series would give us the possibility to explore the DCU as Smallville would, except to a greater degree. We could get the possibility of seeing characters like Clark, Kara, Chloe and Lois showing up in guest spots. But, we could also get new DCU characters like Green Lantern, Hawkman/girl, Booster Gold, Steel, The Atom, Captain Marvel, etc. There could even be episodes that feature The Legion of Superheroes of season 8 travelling to the present and fighting alongside our team.
The main adversary of the series should be the Cadmus Project and Amanda Waller, in particular. She would employ the Suicide Squad to take out the League.
And, I want to hear nothing about Warner Brothers not allowing this. They are full of hot air. Their Justice League film is going nowhere, and when it was going somewhere, it sounded God awful. Heck, they cant even find a way to make a sequel for Superman, I highly doubt that anything will become of the Justice League in the next five years. And, as a matter of fact, Green Arrow has a film in development at the same time as he is going to be a regular on Smallville. I dont see the problem here.
The Justice League episode of Smallville was extremely sucessful and they (or actually just a few members) will even be reappearing this season premiere. I think that the CW, or actually the fans should campaign hard for this.
