Okay everyone, the brand's tarnished, lets give up now shall we.

It's not to do with tarnished reputations. It's to do with wanting the best for these characters. As things are, these characters are not getting the justice (har har) they deserve.

Why should someone who has read Justice League comics for 10-20 years and enjoyed the old cartoon support these movies?

It's like continuously going to a crappy restaurant and giving them your money even though the food isn't improving. Maybe if they start suffering they'll go "maybe we need to get a new chef and change the menu".

Thing is mate while like you I’m a fan of what we’ve got it seems that JL is gonna disappoint at the box office. It feels like the end in some ways cause after the receptions to the previous films (bar Wonder Woman) it’s clear there’s something not been done correctly. You’re never going to please a 100% of your audience but and it pains me to say WBs would be foolish to do another JL now. You gotta think from a business stand and it doesn’t really make sense to continue does it? I think they’ll only proceed with what they see as sure hits now.

Have you been a fan of these characters for long? I mean have you read the comics before nu52 and watched the old 90s/00s series?

I ask this not in a horrible condescending comic book guy elitist way... because I hate that myself. I ask because I'm genuinely curious to see if you have a prior attachment or you're just a fan of the films. Again nothing wrong with that. But it'd help me understand you're reasoning a bit better

If it means WB stops relying on brand power and is forced to make quality movies then I'm all for it.

i think this will finish anywhere from 610-740 in international markets. The US take will determine if this reaches 1B. Hopefully it does at least 280M in the US.

Life long sir, say from 4 yrs old. comic reader, enthusiast, passionate about comics, a HUUUGE comic book fan. (so about 38 yrs all in all).

It will not reach 1 billion. How is it gonna reach over 600M in foreign money if BVS did 550M?

because it's gonna be bigger internationally than batvsup. It's gonna reach 1B if it gets $300M in the US and $700M in international markets.

I'll just never understand why WB kept Snyder after MoS.

THIS. The window was open to save the dceu after mos. MOS laid an ok foundation for the character even if the movie was flawed. superman was recoverable and the rest of the trinity was not yet damaged by hack snyder. WB chose to keep snyder and he became the architect of the whole DCEU.

we dont know. WW made 100 and went to 400m. there are movies who took 90-110M Ow and finish with $250-$400M. like tf2, hunger games 2, minions etc and others have negative ratings as well. why would i believe people (pessimist and haters) here when i got evidences and facts

Can you not understand why this may be the case?

A lot of people believe abject failure is what it’ll take to knock some sense into WB and to get them to start making the right decisions and taking their time with things like Universe building.

There is one even worse scenario, but it’s so unlikely that I’m only including it for my own mathematical amusement.
To wit, the nightmare scenario is that Justice League opens like Wonder Woman (around $105 million), has the domestic legs of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (a 2x weekend-to-total domestic finish) and (like Wonder Woman) only makes 49% of its total outside of North America. Under this absurd scenario, the film earns just $210m domestic (not far off from Thor: The Dark World or even Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) but just $412m worldwide. No, that’s not going to happen.

Read somewhere they need 700M to break even. But WB will be hardly satisfied with just 700-750M figure.

$800M is the bare minimum I think WB expects to be somewhat satisfied.

If this gets to the $850-900M range or more, I think WB will be very satisfied at this point. And relieved.

I don't think WB will be satisfied with anything under $873,260,195.

This was meant to make a billion. I know people denied it with BvS but for sure JL was meant to make a billion. Anything less is a disappointment to them probably. But I'm sure they wouldn't be mad at 875-900 mill

Don't worry, another superman movie will come sooner than later I believe, because there are quite a few high profile directors interested in tackling superman, so if it's not Vaughn now then maybe Bayona next year (especially if JW 2 is a big hit) and if not Bayona then maybe Jenkins (after she finishes with WW2).
I honestly think that the reason they got Whedon to reshoot almost all of superman's scenes was inorder to reboot superman back into original self inorder to entice Vaughn to come on board.

I agree. A Superman movie would cost a lot and both MoS+SR dissapointed financially so what's the point? More likely he'll be a suporting character in Flashpoint / Green Lantern Corps / Shazam / Black Adam so they can still produce tons of merch.
