Justice League Justice League Box Office Prediction - Part 7

Yeah. Marvel Legends is primarily aimed at older Marvel fans, hence the obscurity of many characters involved (your average child isn’t begging for toys of Namor, Constrictor and Fantomex). The movies have specific lines of less expensive figures aimed at the little ones. The Netflix shows do not. DC’s movies do a similar thing, with more expensive toys aimed at adults and cheaper ones aimed st kiddies.

So there’s a difference between a toy line mostly aimed at adult fans and breakfast cereals, candies and other toys aimed at kids.

So, kids don't buy Hasbro's Marvel Legends series based on Netfilx shows? But they buy DC (Mattel's) Multiverse figures ? Even though both are six inches figures having same price range?

I don't believe that.

I think kids will always flock to Batman and Superman because they are Batman and Superman with too many iterations over the years.

See these ? Funko Pops who are bought by everybody (kids and adults ) but the point is, kids do buy these, even though the show is Not aimed at kids.

These are based on Netflix series, not generic figures based on Marvel Comics.

Some don't want to admit that Marvel sells toys to kids for shows that are oriented towards adults, fine. The point I was making is that we cannot judge what is the content of a TV show or a movie just based on Action figures or toys as companies will always try to sell the merchandise stuff to kids even though the movie (or network show) may not be aimed at kids.

MbJ said it, there are adult collectors.

Also, both the Marvel Netflix and BvS rely on advertising.

But BvS as a movie uses much more advertising to get the name out. And I'm not seeing any Jessica Jones advertisements on cereal boxes.

That's because one is a movie with higher marketing budget and other is a Netflix show with a lower marketing budget, had Marvel made a PG-13 Daredevil movie (but one that was not geared towards kids), they would be selling merchandise stuff to kids, and printing advertisements on cereal boxes.

But some are being obtuse here, I think I have made my point, so I will stop.

This was your point.

Exactly, BvS was not made to appeal to wider demographic, like Spider-Man Homecoming was. It was never intended to be targeted at kids.

You don't put BvS on children cereal boxes, soda cans, doritos, movie popcorn buckets, soda containers and fruit snacks and say well Marvel has Funko figures as if they are one and the same.

And using the Marvel really Fox made a Daredevil movie and if they did it now they sell off the merchandise is moot as it's not being done this second or in the future.

Not what I wrote. I specifically said that like marvel, the DCEU has had cheaper lines specifically aimed at children.

Yep, because 'kids' have no taste or capacity to appreciate the finer choice of merchandise.

edit: I should have added :whatever: to the end of my post. In that offering 'kids' just cheap knock off **** is doing them a dis-service.

Ain't that the truth. Doesn't matter where they are--Swap Meet, Flea Market, or Walmart... if it moves and it's in a package--they want it.

Only to then leave it unused, a week later (if you're lucky), in the endless abyss known as the toybox.

nice strawman

Me mentioning the fact that the horror effects in BB/BvS would scare kids = "stop kidding yourselves, what scared the average movie goer (not just families e.t.c) was how horrible of a movie it was."????? like I even made that argument smh

so random :loco:

I don't know if you've ever talked to someone with kids but yes TDK joker, stuff like the dead body jump scare in TDK and the horror effects in BB are a concern to parents, even jason momoa was saying he was concerned steppenwolf was going to be too scary for his kids

BvS/TDK trilogy just aren't designed to reach the kids demographic as much as the Avengers/Superman 1 are

why is this so hard for some people to understand

Not designed for kids didn’t prevent both dark knight films passing 1 billion, plus kids are much more sophisticated these days. Putting BvS in the same sentence with the nolan Batman movies is an insult to the Batman films.

The only thing that might even remotely qualify as being too graphic or disturbing for kids in BvS that I can think of is Clark's heat vision sawing through Batman's goons in that Knightmare scene, but even that little short bit is pretty tame and you don't see the aftermath of the burnt bodies.

Nothing comparable to the Joker hostage video scene in the slightest.

where did I make the argument that the reason BvS didn't reach a billion was because it wasn't as marketed to kids?

i'm literally just saying there are scary bits in BvS/TDK/BB that parents don't want to show their kids, THAT'S IT, NOTHING ELSE, I'M NOT SAYING BVS IS A GOOD MOVIE

is this really so hard to understand?

What scary bits are in BvS?

Shamelessly quoting myself but am I the only one who finds it kinda hilarious that Aquaman received multiple figures in the toy line despite his appearance in the movie being a silent cameo that lasts less than a minute?

It's in the theatrical cut.

Huh.

But that said, I can think of more traumatizing things for kids in other comic book movies. As someone else already mentioned, Red Skull literally ripping his face off, the dude getting grinded in the propeller, etc.

lmao yes

People really thought this dude was gonna end up some endlessly quotable breakout star like Ruffalo Hulk. Dude has the depth of a kiddie pool.

In other news, Thor: Ragnarok has beaten Justice League for the past two days in domestic take.

I saw that coming a while back. I thought they'd both have about the same BO #s going forward (with an edge to JL) and thought TR had a good chance to pass JL in the dailies. Didn't see Jumanji doing it to TLJ however. Man, Dwayne Johnson must be rolling in the movie offers. That guy is box office gold.

Not exactly. The Rock is a massive B.O. draw and he deserves it but Jumangi only proves that a good movie featuring the rock makes buck while a bad one (baywatch) flops like any other movie.

He must be one of the most bankable stars around at the moment, in movies which take advantage of his talents of course.
