Whaddya say we all form a book club? From what I can tell we all have similar tastes. What could go wrong? The commute for me is going to be hell, but, still....It could work.....

Count me in. Let's start with the deleted scenes script pages from JL.

You know no one hates Snyder's directing more than I do, I personally think he's the worst thing to happen to superhero movies since Schumacher! However with that being said I believe the sole reason for the DCEU's failure is WB and the monkey squad who's running it.
They get Snyder, a directing who had the dubious record of 3 major flops in a row and they give him superman and when MOS under-performs they 'punish' Snyder by giving batman and the keys to the DCEU! And after all that they still give him JL even though they could've put the production on hold for a month and found a new director.
All that and let's not forget what they did to suicide squad!
WB is THE problem and it won't be solved until there is a massive corporate restructuring at WB.

That’s the long and short of it. Snyder’s take was divisive and ultimately alienated many people with BVS, but it was WB who continued to hire him even after Man of Steel didn’t get the reception they were hoping for. And who put out a Frankenstein of a picture once they finally realized too late they’d bet the farm on the wrong horse.

It’s why while I’m not sad to see Zack go, I’m still skeptical of this franchise’s future.

Thor passed JL in dailies on Friday. While JL is on significantly more screens.

Some sites reporting final bean will be $675 million, personally I think it will struggle to that.

I don't think it'll hit even within $10m of that. It's pulling in under $200,000 in dailies now.

My guess on the final gross is $660m.

It would be hilarious if tonight during the opening monologue of the Golden Globe awards the host says something like this:

Host: I'm sure the TV audience has noticed all the people here today all dressed in black in solidarity over a great tragedy in our industry. And I would like to say that I am with you as I too.......... have seen the Justice League movie...

This joke works with Star Wars: TLJ as well :)

Less than MOS... 4 years later WITH the addition of Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg. Who saw that coming?

Edit: There was one guy who called under 700m but there wasn't a poll option for it and he got roasted lol.

I saw Snyder damaging the brand further after watching Man Of Steel.

However, I expect the damage to be contained with Superman.

When BvS came out, I had hoped more people would have realized how mangled DC had become under Snyder direction. Still some fans weren't detracted... some even doubled down.

Justice League being received as it was, was surprising even for me given all the corrections WB tried to make and how audiences who saw it--liked the film.

I would pay good money to sit on a WB exec meeting.
They have GOT to be in full on panic mode. That would be better to watch than JL was.

It was the perfect storm of factors. Even once you got past the people who weren’t interested in the movie after BVS, it opened in a holiday month with competition from both Thor: Ragnarok and Coco. Even though JL was much lighter than its two predecessors, I think a lot of the family crowd was still scared off and had better options to pick from.

I think that’s a factor not a lot of people have touched on. WB made a movie with Batman and Superman you couldn’t take your family to go see, and now the franchise has to climb out of that reputation.

I guess Nolan Batman might have also scared some families off Batman films, as amazing as they were.

They should have their executive meetings in a soccer stadium and sell seats to recuperate their losses from Justice League.

And that's what makes it a colossal flop.

I don’t think they were too crazy. I was a kid when Batman Begins came out and my parents were fine taking me to it. BVS took it to a different level. Heck wasn’t the directors cut R?

TDK I think concerned quite a few parents, and I'm sure BvS would have put a significant number off too.

I don't know, but it seems to me that somebody in charge got cold feet and wanted to make it kid friendly. Thing is tho, you see worse things on TV these days ( and i'm talking about the networks, nbc, abc, etc ) that are worse than anything that was in BvS.
JL got schumachered. I'm kidding of course, but not really.

I think the biggest problem is that it's expensive taking the entire family out to see a movie. Not everyone goes opening night or week for that matter. They missed out on a lot of families who saw Ragnarok or Coco instead simply because they heard they were great movies.

The horror/fear gas effects in BB and the martha nightmare in BvS should be enough to turn off a lot of families I would think, no?

Yup. And ironically people here told me Coco wouldn’t be a threat because it was just a family film. It’s why I’m not counting out Mary Poppins next year.

Considering how much money the sequels to BB made I doubt that. As for BvS stop kidding yourselves, what scared the average movie goer (not just families e.t.c) was how horrible of a movie it was. Saying that “it was too dark” is a ridiculous excuse , it wasn’t too dark it was just too horrible.

BvS is not dark. Stop repeating that. It has a dour, oppressive tone but it's not dark. Batman getting raped in prison as per Snyder in a old interview would be dark.

Everyone who brings up Batman's prison rape must really want that scene in a future movie. ;)
