Justice League Mortal could have starred Armie Hammer as Batman, D.J. Catrona as Superman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Adam Brody as Barry Allen, Anton Yelchin as Wally West and Common as Green Lantern. It could have been helmed by George Miller, the director of the Mad Max Trilogy and Happy Feet.

Is this a dodged bullet or a missed opportunity?

this discussed thousand time, close topic upon your head you nancy boo naire doo well... look other topic for discuss, even script now leak, why ou bring this into the foray for 9889 time? hupti

Well, I'm looking forward to Justice League coming out in a couple years, but I think the movie would've been awesome. I loved the script. It's on the same level as Avengers, quality wise

I love George Miller but this was a MAJOR dodged bullet.

The script was hilariously bad when I read it. I don't blame them for it, this was the same time around the Writer's Strike so we couldn't get rewrites. Plus, George Miller really wanted an R-Rated Justice League movie, which WB refused to deliver. If the Writers Strike never happened, it would've been a better movie.

... why in God's name would anyone think an R-rated JLA movie was a good idea?

I don't really want to see any of the main superheroes dropping f bombs, but if the criminals did it'd be okay. If the film had really bloody, bone breaking violence, it'd be cool. I'd be down to see an R-Rated JLA, but it'd fail at the box office

The way Armie Hammer described Mortal was that it'd be a perfect combination of the grittyness The Dark Knight and the epicness of J.J. Abram's Star Trek movies. I guess Miller couldn't do an R-Rated JLA movie which means he had to work with a ****** script, which couldn't get any rewrites because of the Writer's Strike. I guess it ended for the best.
An R-Rated villain would be a treat.

No. I'm one of the biggest critics you'll find of the Green Lantern movie, and this film was on another level quality wise. It was the same level of quality as Thor or Captain America, but nowhere near The Dark Knight. Much better than Green Lantern though.

It wasn't just the script. The cast that was picked was mostly terrible too.

The script wasn't the problem. The cast would've mostly been fine, Armie, Catrona and Baruchel would've been weird but I think it would've been fine

I felt that Armie Hammer, D.J. Catrona, and Megan Gale were probably the best part of Mortal. It was the script, it may have had an interesting quality but the dioalgue seemed to have been written by a 12-year-old. I just wish the Strike never happened, which means the script got rework and redone into a better movie. It sucks WB didn't trust Miller into doing an R-Rated movie.

I'm glad we didn't get an R-rated movie. Don't you realize that that would have killed the DCU on film? It severely limits the amount of people that would see the film.

I think Adam Brody would've been good too

How many times did he just say the words, worried

As I said before, I would have loved to see George Miller's vision for Justice League Mortal. This is the same guy who showed us Mad Max and he wanted to do something dark and unique. the script was just quickly rushed and it wasn't what Miller and the crew wanted. It's because of the Writer's Strike and the Tax Rebate thing at Australia which ended Mortal.

Armie Hammer even said that they wanted to change so many things in the script.

You do have a point there...I'm just saying that I would've loved seeing a much more grittier JLA movie. If WB had gotten rewrites, (I always felt that Drew Goddard and Damon Lindeloff could deliver a solid JLA movie) it would've been much closer to what Miller was going for.

As for Brody, he was a great choice. I heard the movie would've focused on Barry's death, which had Wally (Anton Yelchin) taking over the mantle. It reminds me of Watchmen....

The script wasn't perfect. But that scene is kinda touching lol. He says "worrying" too much but the idea of that scene isn't bad.

Really we don't know exactly what Miller wanted the movie to be. There's no way he would've expected Warner Bros to let him make an R-rated Justice League, but a grittier tone would've probably worked better. The script is a good starting point, I agree that they should've hired some other guys for rewrites though

I hope a reworked version of this premise is used in an eventual JL film.

I hope for the Justice League movie to be done in a way which should be approached verrrrrrrrry slowly and steadily. They need to map out everything first and then work on the script. Not like Mortal, Mortal was started in early 2007 and was expected for 2008-9. Take your time WB!

The script was decent! Really need to see some test photos now!

Can anybody here give a synopsis of what the script was like? The heroes featured and the villain of the film?
