Justice League script review

i liked the sound of the sea monster attack.

It isn't the inclusion of Talia that got the Nolan camp so irate. It all goes back to the 'Empire-level' spoiler which Patrick over at Ugo films mentioned, as well as the "Villain with a 3-letter 1st name who we've already seen in a DC film. Supposedly".

The true villain is/was Ra's Al Ghul, a character already seen in the Nolan Batverse.

I'm guessing the only way a JL movie could be made without stepping on any other DC-film continuity is to avoid using the same villains/minor characters (so no Joker, Alfred, Lex, Lois, etc...) Hence the use of DC C-lister Max Lord.

Have you met Motown Marvel? :p ;)
Yeah i think he pulled a stunt (on a much smaller scale) like that not so long ago?

It was during a time when bogus JLA and MOS rumors were flying around, some of which coming from IESB.I see that more as a wake up call for the site and it's readers to be more carefull what they believe.:cwink:
Thank GOODNESS this was all a hoax. I'm still a bit concerned about the casting - I have zero interest in seeing Sky High 2 or Friday Night Teen Titans - but the original script descriptions still have me ecstatic. I think other studios may be starting to worry, which is funny to see.

Anyhoo, I'm holding my breath and keeping my fingers crossed they can pull this sucker off.
pray.gif
Although I have my reservations i hope they can pull it off as well.
I won´t put my hand on fire for it, but according to several sources, as outrageous as it sounds, it seems to be.
Even if it is...it's only 14 pages of a draft that will be rewritten god knows how many times in the coming months.

Maybe, but it´s almost november and the shooting starts in february... The general tone is one of the earliest things you must decide.

So what? The Joker was seen in BATMAN and here he comes again in THE DARK KNIGHT. And it's not like Nolan cornered the market on using Ra's Al Ghul to his full potential in BATMAN BEGINS. God forbid someone else continue the story. Now, if Nolan planned on doing that in BATMAN 3, that's one thing. But thus far, not much has indicated that approach.

What the hell is going on, is this script real of not?

Why not use Vandal Savage to supplement Ra's Al Gul? Throw in Lady Shiva instead of Talia as well. That's easier than adding on some convoluted plotline of the CSA.

I think Nolan (and/or his producers) wants to keep his options open, he doesn't know if he will use Ra's+Talia again down the line.

Talk about speculation! :wow: Do we really, truly know why Nolan was pissed? He could have mentioned something as in "I wish they would wait" like Bale has but now all of a sudden it has blown up to full scale Nolan is flippin pissed and he was able to get the script rewritten?!? Nolan is up to his eyeballs in TDK stuff, I doubt he has that much time to worry about JL. And where did Ra's come from? I can't find it anywhere where it was confirmed he was ever in the movie? Are people just making cr@p up now? I wasn't too crazy at first about this JL movie but we really need to chill and find out what the real deal is, this is getting out of hand.

let me see if i get this right. in your opinion there is nothing wrong if ra's is in the new JL movie that has no connection with nolans batman that was a restart after 10 years?

So now they say it's "real" huh.....Good God, and Sanchez admitted he hadn't read the supposedly great script yet? LOL, this is the stuff of nightmares.

True but we're not certain if the script is real - i don't think it is.

wait, who's saying the leak might be real now?

Stephanie Sanchez, or IESB. The same guys who said it was fake. Although what has me worried is El Mayimbe called to say he thinks it might be real. If El Mayimbe firms up on this matter, its safe to say we are in deep trouble :csad:

smart man, I think that would work well

this whole thing sucks. i mean, knowing what we know right now....how many people really want this movie to be made? who really thinks 'yes, so far this sounds like a great idea.'?

Great director, great producers, WETA.... All good news. So if the actors are good and the script is up to par then hell yeah!

First time i read the Transformers script I thought it was a joke. Just like Bay (and everybody else) who first read the script for Raiders of the Lost Ark thought it was utterly crap. But both movies blew me away. As long as the director is good (which Miller absolutely is), then there is a lot more then hope. And if they get the right actors, then this movie will be badass.

What a group of amateurs thinks of a script is of little interest. They don't know squat about what a script really is. All in all, it's the director it all comes down to and his ability to transfer his visions to the big screen.

That's why Spielberg makes fantastic movies out of what seems to be bad script.

What I am worried about is which actors that gets cast. Miller introduced us to Mel Gibson in the 80's, will he manage to find someone new in not just one role, but seven?

As long as no one of the heroes pees on OMACs, I have no problem with the movie having the same tone as Spider-Man or Transformers. But no Fantastic Four-tone. Please god no. But this is "Mad Max" Miller, I doubt he will make this WB's answer to Marvels Fantastic Four. No way in hell :)

I'm still an optimist. Life's to short to whine and to look at the cup as half empty. Peace out.

ok, so i just read the thing on IESB about the 14 pages of The JLA movie.....wtf?? crime syndicate? from reading this, it sounds like all the members already have experience in this stuff and arent new comers, why cast so young then?

I guess to have them for many many years...

Now this 14 pages were before the opening credits role so maybe it isn't as bad as people think...

I still don't like the Crime Syndicate being in this movie though...

LOL! You mean you don't want to see the Flash pee on Superman's cape at light speed? I think your right, we are not getting a movie like that! They already did the Super Heros Roast way back when. And to this day I don't know why Adam West didn't tuck his cowl under his cape on that one!

george miller hasnt done anything to make him worthy of JLA in 20 years. thats not to say he cant do a great job directing, he may very well. but im not as sold on him as some other people. and WETA might make some incredible effects, but incredible effects dont make a movie good or worthwhile.

First time i read the Transformers script I thought it was a joke. Just like Bay (and everybody else) who first read the script for Raiders of the Lost Ark thought it was utterly crap. people thought the Raiders script was bad? those would be people i dont trust to make films. and so far, theres been nothing to imply we're getting a good cast for JLA. all rumored actors have been very lackluster and less than inspiring.

What a group of amateurs thinks of a script is of little interest. They don't know squat about what a script really is. All in all, it's the director it all comes down to and his ability to transfer his visions to the big screen.

well, according to you above, it doesnt matter what pro's think of scripts either. either way, its not hard to read a script and be able to say if its a good story or not. im sure you judge films you see all the time, but your no film maker, are you? and if your no film maker, then by your rationale, your opinion of whats going on with these films is worthless. fact of the matter is, these sites put out story details of the script leaving you to make your own decision about them. so far, its not sounding good. i dont need superfirends for 10 year olds.

That's why Spielberg makes fantastic movies out of what seems to be bad script.

Raiders wasnt a bad script.

What I am worried about is which actors that gets cast. Miller introduced us to Mel Gibson in the 80's, will he manage to find someone new in not just one role, but seven?
really? 28 years ago george miller put a guy in a movie who's now famous. man, he must be magic, i'd trust him to do anything. but like i said above, so far every casting rumor has been less than desirable.

No way in hell :)

george hasnt been "mad max" miller since mad max 2 in 1981 (the third one sucked). and you seem to have pretty low standards for the film (as long as no one pees on omacs). this is the JLA, for christ sake, the film needs to be astonishingly impeccable. im fine with the spider-man tone as well, it worked for all ages. but that doesnt sound like what we're getting. like the script review seems to imply, this is superfriends fro 10 year olds, and something anyone older would be less than interested in being entertained by.

I'm still an optimist. Life's to short to whine and to look at the cup as half empty. Peace out.
i have no problem with being an optimist, im optimistic and try to see the bright side of things whenever its warranted. but im also not gonna blindly pretend everything is great when there's so much to imply otherwise. im not gonna play dumb just to be happy.

Sea monsters do sound cool! :yay: I know we haven't talked about him much, but I would love to see Aquaman go to town! Then again do you put in on a sea wave or a sea horse? TOO MANY QUESTION!!!!!:hyper:

let me see if i get this right. in your opinion there is nothing wrong if ra's is in the new JL movie that has no connection with nolans batman that was a restart after 10 years?

No, I have no problem with it. You know why? Because Ra's Al Ghul is not some character Chris Nolan created for BATMAN BEGINS. Nolan doesn't own him. Ra's has appeared in DC Comics, animated shows, etc. He's a character who has had many incarnations and more can be done with him than what we saw in BEGINS, which was good, but hardly reached Ra's Al Ghul's full potential. If there's a great JLA story to be told on film with him that could tie into Nolan's franchise a bit? I don't mind. Not the way I would GO, but it could work.

Once again though, I have yet to see Chris Nolan say a word about being upset. And if he is, it strikes me as a petty reason to be upset...unless he has some master plan to bring Ra's Al Ghul back and to use Talia for BATMAN 3. That's assuming Talia was ever IN the JUSTICE LEAGUE script, because let's face it, that was ALSO a rumor.

Which brings me to...

NONE OF YOU FICKLE FANBOYS HAVE READ THIS SCRIPT! QUIT ACTING LIKE YOU KNOW IT'S QUALITY BASED ON SOME RUMORS YOU'VE HEARD ABOUT A SCRIPT THAT EVEN THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE READ IT ARE WAFFLING OVER IT'S AUTHENTICITY!

This is starting to remind me of when WB decided to screw JLU and focus on The Batman. To hell with good writting and mature themes, let's make it fun for the kids and no one else.

I have been trying to remain optimistic, I really wanted a JLA film, but ...at some point, you have to say wtf are they thinking. I hope all this is not true.

Guard, I don't think there is enough sense to go around. Unfortunately.

JLU ended because Timm wanted it too.
