Justice League script review

Rob at IESB has a copy of the script? What? Does WB just hand them out?

That actually made me laugh out loud.

I made this statement and though I liked SR and reallllllllllllly want MOS I think this is the most honest observational commentary I can give on the state of Superman as handled by the WB on big screen.

Wrote it in 10 seconds. Guess my mind has a clear view on it. Could be wrong to some but I feel right about it at this time.

Not too sound like we as fans are smarter than the execs but... The WB just can't get Superman right. SR was decent but not great. JL we still don't have confirmation on details but rumors sound MEH.

All it takes is a damn origin story revamped for a new generation. Show Krypton and its cities, the destruction, setup Brainiac ala TAS. Keep Supes parents alive as something different from Donner... More Byrnes era where Clark is the guy and Superman is what he does. Lex Luthor as head of Lexcorp and a smart business tycoon. Bring in a physical threat for villain such as Metallo created through tech by Lex who gained in from Brainiac. Brainiac manipulates Lex, Lex manipulates Corben, bam... Action, story, SUPERMAN.

It's not science folks

Showtime was responsible enough to remind us in the forums that he heard of an early draft and that things probably would change.

For someone who has read the script, that's not much detail on characters and so forth. Not buying this just yet, in part because of the Earth 2 villain references. I doubt WB would go that route.

About the script. Didn't you know all along? Or maybe I'm just an idiot. Yeah, that's probably what it is.

I gave alot of info about the script, alot of which is still holding... I think I was the first too talk about it?

A fun popcorn flick kids will get into and money will be made from action figures for certain this time.

However with the differences from SR and BB pronounced maybe MOS isn't so doomed.

VOICES FROM KRYPTON: There are so many rumors on the Internet, including that Bryan Singer’s Man of Steel is not happening. Is that film still on the table?
GREGORY NOVECK: Oh, yeah, absolutely.

VOICES FROM KRYPTON: Well, the word is that it’s been put on “indefinite hold” because of Justice League.
GREGORY NOVECK: That’s not true. The reason that Justice League is powering forward first is because the script came in and it was phenomenal.
VOICES FROM KRYPTON: It’s really that good?
GREGORY NOVECK: It is, and that very rarely happens in Hollywood on a movie of this scale, and when it does you have no choice but to say, “We’d better catch lightning in a bottle and go!” All of a sudden, six months later, who knows what’s going to happen? You want to hold on to those writers, you’ve got massive interest from directors, you land someone like George Miller, so you go. And in the middle of it all, you’ve got Bryan going off to make another movie, which was a passion project of his. When he comes back, we’ll dive right in to Man of Steel. We’re scripting and it’s going to happen. We’re not going to make it until the script is great, but we’ll get there one way or the other and it’s not going to take nine years.
VOICES FROM KRYPTON: I think Bryan has said this himself, but the difference between Superman Returns and Man of Steel needs to be the difference between Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Wrath of Khan.
GREGORY NOVECK: I think that’s accurate, absolutely. But I think what Superman Returns did was that, at the very least, it brought the character back to the forefront and got people talking about him. The thing with Batman is that Batman will always be cool because he’s an iteration of your Id. He a cool, dark character who has the cool toys, has no remorse and yet there’s a moral line that he won’t cross. Plus he’s got a great, tragic back story. You never have to worry about Batman going out of style because of those elements. With Superman there’s always that thing that he’s not cool anymore, he’s got the blue suit and the red cape and he’s such a product of his era. How do you update it? But I think one of the things that Bryan was really successful at conveying in the movie, is that you don’t need to update that. It’s iconography that’s so universal at this point, that you just have to maintain it. Now does that mean you can have a more action-packed story and play up the relationships? Of course, but it doesn’t mean let’s have Versace design the cape.
VOICES FROM KRYPTON: And you don’t have to, as Jon Peters tried to do for 10 years, get him out of the costume or depower him.
GREGORY NOVECK: No, because I think the minute you do that, you’ve screwed up and it’s no longer Superman. That was the problem with so much of the development of the project for years.
VOICES FROM KRYPTON: I liked Superman Returns, but like I said, I should have loved it and I couldn’t.
GREGORY NOVECK: Look, I totally understand the criticism. For me, it was such a struggle to get to that point and I thank God every day that Bryan said, “I want to do it,” because he at least came in with a respect for the character.

If you have the Crime Syndicate, you don't need Maxwell Lord. They have nothing to do with one another. The part about the team being introduced quickly doesn't really bother me though. As long as the characters are well written throughout the rest of the story.

Please don't keep tugging me along WB. The chance of seeing MOS and the Return to Krypton are the only things making the bad taste of this JL movie go down.

Well the rumors heard for MOS that came from a decent source really got me excited again for what Singer could do. I hope it does happen and I think the SR franchise can redeem itself. Though it's too late I still feel the origin would have been the way to go but MOS has the potential to capture most Superman fans this time around.

Read that "review" again. Incredibly inconsistent in their themes and storyline structuring. Crime Syndicate, Max Lord and introducing J'onn J'onnz? And supposedly the OMACS play a role? Not buying it.

The lack of details would tend to indicate it is in fact, not a real review. Two, that is not the Mulroney's writing style at all, not from what little I've seen of them. Three, it doesn't line up with ANYTHING we've heard rumorwise from multiple sources. It smacks of someone who doesn't know how writing works trying to put together a halfway believeable "script" to rile people up.

That's quite possible, which is why I'm more engaged on MOS discussion at this moment myself :o

Dude. Rob at IESB has the script and he's not loving it. Clint didn't say he saw the entire script. Just bits and pieces.

I think the Guard's point is if the past is any indication the obvious "wait for official confirmation" should apply. Stories, directors, actors, etc... Look how many rumors from restarts we went through. That's his point. He is worried people are running with info that's not confirmed officially yet.

Well if we see alot of sites start to post script reviews, you can pretty much take it to the bank.

It's possible that this isn't the shooting script.

But Clint apparently lives in Australia and the film industry there is small so he probably could get his hands on some pages.

Plus, he didn't say it was horrible, just not an adult film. There are plenty of children films i don't see that make lots of money. Night at the Musuem etc.

...something stinks here.

So he finds an envelope just sitting on his doormat. Wasn't sent in the mail, so there was probably no return address. He opens it to find several pages of a Justice League script...not a full script, just several pages. A script that mentions...mysterious other heroes? Seriously, WTF? Ultraman? Superwoman? Owlman? What is this? Justice League or Crisis on Multiple Earths? Seriously, aren't those the Crime Syndicate on Earth 3?

I guess I missed that part. This is most likely total bull.

It could be a later draft of the script or an earlier draft of the script.

Rob Sanchez is commenting on the IESB boards now and he says it is bad. So I guess he got the fake script too?

Clint? Heh... He's more connected than you know with the WB actually. Not saying what he has is the official shooting script but believe me, he's one that is actually connected well.

Re:New Justice League Details- Getting Worse 1 Hour, 29 Minutes ago Karma: 0 Just read part of the script and it's killing me, give me a few minutes and I am oging to write something up. This is bad, really bad.

So first it's Al Goughs people toppled Welling's chances for Smallville, then WB released fake information that Welling would be Superman on purpose, now fake scripts are being sent to film sites...that is alot of conspiracy theories. I am not buying into this fake script theory, Mel Gibson is on his own.

Well; I love me some good popcorn movie; so it doesnt sound too bad...

But at the same time; it all sound sos....fantastic four-movie-ish...and that uh; SUCKED. So...i would assume this will...

CAN THE DAMN MOVIE ALREADY :o
