[WWC EXCLUSIVE] ANDREWS REIGN SET TO BEGIN WITH SPIDER-MAN

After six years, history has caught up with Kaare Andrews, and the writer/artist of Decembers four-issue miniseries Spider-Man: Reign found his story of the future is now the story of today.
Running parallel to current continuity, Andrews described his story as an examination of two questions. First, without power is there no responsibility? And second, what happens to a city that gives away its power and responsibility?
Its an option, Andrews revealed. It's an opinion. This is me using the characters I love and making them suffer in a world that could or could not happen. This is not an alternate reality. This is my reality. It's happening and I invite the readers to explore it with me. My whole world at one point in my life was Spider-Man and now, or for a brief moment in time, I get to live in that world again.
And Andrews is only taking responsibility for his book. He asserted this as an opportunity to look beyond the major rumblings in current Spider-Man books, and really explore the characters further than anyone else in todays continuity. He plans on looking at a variety of aspects of Spider-Mans world. He will explore what the life of a woman who marries a man with radioactive blood is really like. He also plans to touch on topics like what makes a man stop fighting and then brings him back and what happens to a world that no longer needs heroes. But more than anything else, he explores characters he insists he truly loves.
I want them to know how much I love Spider-Man, Peter, Jonah and Mary Jane, Andrews stated. And then I want to apologize. I'm going to make them all hurt. I'm going to make them age. I'm going to make them suffer. And when they need to find strength most...I'm going to give them pain.
The four-issue miniseries will be 36 pages an issue because, Andrews maintains, because a larger story needs a larger format.
