Comics Gravestone Theories

Ah, well that explains it. Its a futuristic story.

Captivated will be relieved ;)

Uh you might want to read what he said again bro...

Yeah I was confused (by what Ock said) too. It looks like it CAN'T be from Reign. Though now I'm glad I'm proved right the consequences look dire :(

Oh crap I didn't see that sentence under the link. Stupid me.

Damn. Yeah it looks like its not from reign then.

The future looks bleak for my friend Spidey. I wish I could say that I was susprised. Perhaps unfortunately, I saw this coming.

I still think it is though. Covers usually don't mean ****, especially since in this very series there is one where he's wearing the Black Costume. Not buying it either way, I may be the only comic fan on earth who hated DKR

its all so simple....spidey thinks mj is dead but shield has put her in a witness protection program to protect her and if you want to take this a step further aunt may can join her...that way spidey can be a loner again and also see the ladies

JoeQ is a *****e - he knows how to push fans' buttons, and does so to increase their blood pressure = translates to sales in his eyes. He just may be right.

That's exactly why I stopped buying. I refuse to be an accomplice to all this.

Well, JQ won't last forever. He has to either resign, be fired, or die.

A measure of a man in power may be his legacy.

Look at Stan... he treated everyone like gold and is remembered as such.

What a legacy JQ will leave for himself.

Spider-Man Reign takes place 35 years from now. (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=8126)

One of the pictures show a WHITE haired peter sitting accross from MJ at a dinner table. (http://www.newsarama.com/WW_Chicago_06/Marvel/reign/andrews.html)

The Peter clutching MJ's gravestone has his typical brown hair.

So, he has white hair in the comics. I don't see some special super duper rule book in the comic book industry where his hair color in the comic book has to match the cover. It's probably just supposed to be symbolic and I believe that it's been confirmed on more than one occassion that the gravestone cover is, in fact, from the Spider-Man: Reign miniseries.

But, I do enjoy that you riled everybody up again. You're worse than Quesada, man! :spidey:

Thank you. However, you seem to be arguing with the voices in your head. I made no extrapolations whatsoever. I simply pointed out evidence and left the deduction to the reader.

Heh, whatever you say.

Whether the red headed bimbo dies in continuity or out of continuity it's good news for yours truly.

I thought you meant #'s 2 to 7 of the CW.

You should quote what you're ranking on. My bad.

Gotcha. I figured it was obvious I was refering to Joe's comments because that's what the thread is about, but I guess I was wrong, sorry about that. :)

Meh. It feels too much like the 'Gwen Stacy off the Bridge' bit...rain, thunderstorms. Clutching grief. Been there, done that.

Looks like Scott Kolins art in the grave pic...He is doing the "Beyond" series right now. I wouldn't get too worked up over this,

Eric

I'm willing to bet Peter has copy of ASM 122 clutched between himself and that grave stone:(

I fail to see how it even looks like it's from Reign, apart from the bleakness of it and the black background (which is what i'd expect from an issue of Amazing, for example, where she dies).
Some people have said the colourist looks the same?? c'mon...

SIAT, it has definitely not been "confirmed on more than one occasion".

I looked at those previews for Eign. The art style looks DECIDELY different fro that image. It looks different and also the white hair has something to do with it.

I'm saying I don't think it is Reign anymore. It is not the same artist anyway. But I can't say for sure who I think it is but there is a strong possibility IMO it could be Lee or Windergo who are drawing a reactionary issue in the Spider-Man series to something I suspect will happen near the end of the Civil War run (like issue 6 or 7).

Point is, I'm pretty sure this is continuity now, and I don't like it one bit though.

All i'm saying is -- it hasn't been "confirmed". If it was that obvious then JQ would have just bowed over and said "that's leaked from Reign" but it's not that obvious and it's not confirmed! It's not ****ing confirmed! ;)

Joe Blow (er, Joe Q, I meant) obviously realizes that A) non-canon miniseries and B) future tales which are even less relevent to current events don't make much money, so he's using this art to try to drum up some interest.

Also, by firing us all up over the image, at some point when he splits MJ and Peter up, he can say in Joe Fridays "See? It's not like I killed her. Remember how boiled over everyone got over that tombstone image that meant nothing?"

Dude's as predictable as a dog's fart.
