I personally think it's a well cut trailer for a questionable movie.

and listen, if this movie fails, there's nothing to worry about. Because in a couple years it'll be forgotten.

Does anyone remember The Next Karate Kid? See? I win.

I found Hillary Swank to be very hot in this movie.

looks entertaining I don't see what is soooo horrible about the trailer. It's well cut and simple and doesn't show too much. Maybe people is just sooo rebelious against the idea that 11 year old poor black kid moving to China and learning Karate, it must be sooo implausible. The story is simple just like the original was. Unfortunate kid learns discipline from the martial arts taught by a master. The original is not even consider a classic, it was predictable but the chemistry between Pat Morita and Ralph Macchio was what made it a decent film. And from what I seen from the trailer, the chemistry between Jaden and Jackie looks promising. And that's really what this typical story is about. The relationship between the master and the student.

People are just being angry at the title... seriously the title. That's all the fuss is about, and that's all the majority of complaints Im reading on the net. Even if they called this movie Dragonkick or Spunk Face it wouldn't change.

And even in the original ... it had a concept of Kung Fu at the end when he did the "Crane" style kick to win the match

I believe they took the trailer down on most site but I've found site where they still have it online

It looks like a typical action film, so I don't expect much from this movie so this is a skip for me. Though it does look like they at least trying to make a good film (which is more than I can say for Dragonball: Evolution).

I have no words.

The trailer looks terrible. The part where Jackie Chan swats the fly with a flyswatter and then picks it off using chopsticks pretty much sums up this film vs. the original.

Also, the movie looks pretty culturally insensitive. In addition to the fact that they're calling kung fu and wushu "karate," the story is about an American going to China and beating a bunch of "backwards" Chinese kids at their own game. Nationality and race never played a role in Daniel getting bullied in the original Karate Kid, but it almost certainly will in the remake, and the moral of the story is probably going to be that American kid + kung fu > Chinese kid + kung fu.

dude f*** the title, that new trailer was the beez kneez. I'm so pumped for this movie. Anyone who denies this looks good is a fool & will be laughed at when this comes & makes alot of money & new fans. Loved the original & this feels like it gets what the original also tried to put across. So cool man.

I am at a complete loss for why the studio would think it's a good idea to call it Karate Kid if it's no longer a story involving Karate. I understand they want the name… but you can't have your cake and eat it too.

I'm a black belt in tang soo do so I understand why ppl would be upset about the title & frankly I agree, why can't they just damn well change it?. I mean if the movie is awesome & can stand on it's own two feet, why keep the name?. On the other hand it just looks so damn good that I could care less anymore.

"Kung Fu lives in how we put on a jacket, take off the jacket & lives in how we treat people. EVERYTHING IS KUNG FU"

Best line ever!. inspirational stuff. I'm liking this movie more & more. I can't think of a bad thing in that new trailer. No rap music, no corny will smith one liners given to his son, just a great trailer all round.

I believe the trailer showed too much. One of the really cool concepts of the original was that Daniel didn't know he was being trained by Mr. Miyagi... he thought he was just being his slave by doing these mundane/repetitive chores. Then we finally see what Mr. Miyagi is up to... and then they show Jackie Chan doing the same concept with the jacket... in the damn trailer for the movie. Jeez.

Another primary concept was the romantic aspect of the movie... that was the main reason for Daniel getting his ass beat. That is pretty much elminated in this movie what with the "Karate" Kid being a literal kid.

Funny thing... try clicking on the character names for "Dre Parker" or "Mr Han" on the IMDB site. How sad. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1155076/

"Kung Fu lives in how we put on a jacket, take off the jacket & lives in how we treat people. EVERYTHING IS KUNG FU"

my brain just exploded :(

the amount of the word 'kung fu' in the trailer is amazing since the freakin' movie is called The Karate Kid. Regardless if the movie ends up being a winner, people will talk about that aspect of the movie..

I can't believe they replaced ''Wax on, wax off." with ''Jacket on, jacket off."

Wow. It even sounds more dirty and pervy now taken out of subtext. :o

If this were a few generations ago... they would be able to get away with calling this The Karate Kid and having the martial arts be Kung Fu. The majority of Americans back then didn't know the difference... but with the infusion of Asian cinema into American culture, people are not as ignorant. Or maybe I'm giving Americans too much credit?

How is it "doing it's own thing"? It's stealing so many elements from the original... it has the original's title... it is most definitely not it's "own thing".

I really don't see what is so amazing about the trailer besides the music. I feel this is beneath Jackie Chan.

Honestly the only good part of the trailer was Jackie Chan. He looks like he's given an admirable performance as Mr. Han. But Will's little son needs to stay home cause he sure as hell can't act.

This movie will make money...

It probably will... movies that make money aren't necessarily good. I'm talking about how good this movie will be... not how much box office it will generate. I couldn't care less about how lucrative this movie will be.

This movie will get a sequel...

It might. Will Smith IS the producer and this is a star vehicle for his son. If it is successful enough, it will warrant a series of most likely unspectacular sequels. *meh*

People will like it...

People also liked Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. That doesn't make it a good movie.

PLUS... this movie is being directed by the guy whose biggest movies have been Agent Cody Banks and Pink Panther 2. My bad if I don't really want to put much faith in his abilities.

"Karate?!? That's like . . . the Dane Cook of Martial Arts!!!" :woot:
