Karl Urban IS Skurge The Executioner

There is a far simpler explanation. Hulk's Quinjet has been spotted in asgard so he passed through the wormhole with the jet intact. Every Quinjet has a Black Widow weapon stash like CW showed.

Skurge simply picked a couple of M16 from Black Widow's storage.
wow, I hadn't thought of that.

Somehow i pictured Galadriel and Eomer. :p

Hehehe. Its interesting that most of the hobbit/lotr cast are part of the MCU. Its so awesome :D

Yeah, the sheer volume of LotR/Hobbit actors that have played Marvel characters in the MCU and X-Men movies is insane. Off the top of my head:

Gandalf - Magneto
Galadriel - Hela
Eomer - Skurge
Thranduil - Ronan
Arwen - Betty Ross
Elrond - Red Skull
Tauriel - Hope van Dyne
Thorin - Hydra guy in CA: TFA
Bilbo Baggins - Everett Ross
Gollum - Ulysses Klaue

They need to get Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortensen in the MCU.

It is indeed a lot, and it's all great.

I'd like to see Bernard Hill in there as well. Theoden might be my favorite in the movie trilogy. I say might as I can't actually make a definitive ranking, but he was truly amazing in his monologues and speeches.

Interesting details from Urban about Skurge in this interview with IGN. He says that Heimdall has gone missing and Skurge is his replacement. Once Hela takes over, he makes a decision to serve her to stay alive. This could possibly make turning him into a good guy somewhat easier.

That's good to hear, Skurge has his battle axe in those theater standees that were shown a few days ago as well.

Now the big question is, will his Bloodaxe be enchanted and have powers like in the comics. Mainly being able to project fire and ice, I know that might leave out the dimension rift opening aspect.

I'd love it if his axe could open dimensional portals like in the comics, that's such a cool ability.

I wonder why Hela decides to keep Skurge alive when she probably could have just killed him as easily as the other soldiers. I bet she'll be super manipulative with him, like Amora is in the comics. He has to feel some kind of emotional connection to her or him eventually betraying her to help Thor (which come on, he so will, Gjallerbru anyone?) won't carry as much weight.

Fin i gotta adress your gif.
Hela stopping a hit of Gungnir and the way she does it... unbelievable. Hela is a beast.

It's one of my favourite moments of the trailer (along with her having Thor on the floor with her hand to his throat in the next scene!), sheer badassery right there. It's Odin's spear, it must be insanely powerful and she just blocks it like it's nothing. So awesome.

It could be that, for all Hela's power, she actually doesn't want to *quite* rely on her own abilities to simple walk into Asgard and kill everyone and everybody. Either she actually does need/want followers as protection, or else she has some goal other than just "kill everyone".

Gungnir is a weapon the rivals mjolnir. It's the weapon of the ruler of Asgard. Enough said.

When i think more about it i see Thor in round 2 trying to use Gungnir since mjolnir was crushed in round 1. I guess that Thor also loses round 2 because those weapons, as insanely powerful they are, they probably won't work to defeat Hela. That's why in round 3 Thor goes BEAST MODE on her and finally takes her down.

If anybody runs across a cast member talking about Skurge's bloodaxe having powers please post them.

She probably needs someone watching also in case the likes of Thor or Odin come back to overthrow her.

I wonder if Skurge is gonna battle Thor or Hulk in this movie.

*cough* I do kind of wonder how they will justify/explain the twin M16s actually being *useful* against anything he's fighting. . .

Very true, one of my friends saw the trailer and was like "Wow, he's gonna be horribly outmatched with those".

Hela is going to enchant them to fire special 'death bullets' :D

Something like that. Or maybe Skurge actually has a "make my weapons kill stuff better" power. Usually uses it with an axe, but then falls in love with combat rifles akimbo.

This Thor film is a lot different from the previous Thor films we’ve seen. From the color palette all the way to the music, what attracted you to this film?

Karl Urban: What attracted me to this film? There’s three things. There’s the script, first of all, which I thought was really cool, Cate Blanchett, and this guy Taika Waititi.

Speaking of Taika Waititi, he’s an amazing film director. What did you learn on set from working with him?

Karl Urban: Well, I guess there’s nothing sacred in a take when you work with Taika and I like that. He’s not so precious about it and he would throw you directions or lines and it was a very fluid and collaborative process. It was a lot of fun. Unlike anything I’d ever done before. So much fun. Laughing so much. Yeah.

This Thor film has a lot of comedy in it. Or it seems to have a lot of comedy in it and we got to see characters like Hulk and Loki back. Tell me about some of the relationships your character encounters in this film with Loki and with Thor himself.

Karl Urban: Primarily, in this film, I spend most of the time paired up with Cate Blanchett and her character Hela. And once she turns up, my character Skurge really has a decision to make and it’s about survival. It’s either join her or die. And he’s not the brightest tool in the shed, but he’s bright enough to know what he has to do to survive, which is interesting because once you make a deal with the devil, then you got to pay the man. And that’s the story of Skurge.

It feels weird that Thor is taller than Skurge in this movie.
