Keanu as Plastic man

billted1.jpg

Ted Winter and Keanu Reeves as
Bill S. Preston, and Ted Logan

(a franchise of two films and two cartoon seasons)

This is true, but Eel O'Brien/Plastic Man is not necessarily a dimwitt. This is a bad guy turned good with comedy involved and guys like Carrey, Carell, or Stiller have done that. Just like TheComicbookKid quoted:

That's who this job is for.

Eel O'Brian isn't a dimwit at all. He's highly intelligent. He's just also a massive goofball. But despite his antics, he's the guy who Batman hand picked for the Justice League and who the FBI have called on for the cases they'd rather not touch.

You know, I have a feeling he'll pull it off! Just thinking of Bill and Ted. Plus, I like Keanu Reeves, no matter what others say. :D

Its gonna be really dumb if its rated R...The Punisher is R, not Plastic Man.

Ninja Assassin is rated R, not Plastic Man... ;)

Like I said before "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" was rated R and it looks like Plastic Man (at least on the movie poster). Here is a PM moment from the film:

That's all a matter of special effects. That has nothing tot do with the rating.

The film actually did have an R rating. I just showed an SfX scene from it just as a comparison/contrast/similarity to how a Plastic Man film could be (or at least get everyone thinking along that line). I am actually afraid that I can't really show any of the R stuff at this site since there are probably kids reading these threads.

They will have to redo the suit though. This could be a good role for Keanu. I wished he had taken the role of Racer x in Speed Racer.

I'm well aware that Fear and Loathing is rated R. I'm just saying, the fact it's rated R has nothing to do with the special effects in that scene and everything to do with the copious amounts of swearing and drug use in the film. No reason why Fear and Loathing's R rating should mean that Plastic Man should get an R rating.

Anyway, I still think Jim Carrey should play Plastic Man.

Keanu's fansite Club-Keanu claims they contacted his manager via e-mail and he DENIED the rumor. No Plastic Man for Keanu. Maybe Joel Silver's wishiful thinking. :cwink:

Latino Review has an update on the initial Plastic Man story:

**UPDATE** Reader Ballack, who provided CHUD with the original details wanted to share with us the highlights of the radio interview. Here's what he wrote in his e-mail:

- James McTeigue is having a blast directing Ninja Assassin. Says its going to be an old school Hong Kong influenced fight fest whilst keeping with the traditional Japanese style.

- Looking to be a R rated movie with no exceptions being made to the integrity of choreography prepped by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski with insight on behalf of fight consultant Yuen Woo-ping.

- The Wachowski's are involved with blocking all the complex fight scenes with James taking lead on dialogue related scenes.

- Says he loves working in Berlin and is looking to move to London shortly to begin prep on the post production.

- With the nitty gritty out of the way, he started a heavy discussion on a subject known to many comic book fans called Plastic Man. This is what i have been able to recall.

- The Wachowski's are using their original 1996 script which he says would have been the most expensive movie ever made had it been green lit back then.

- With the recent disappointment regarding Speed Racer, the Brothers decided it was time to give the fans what they want (Old school Wachowski production). He says the boys are prepping the movie the way they did it on the first Matrix with the intention of blowing **** up like never before.

- Movie will focus on Action, Character and then special effects. Says the Brothers feel the world can't handle another movie ten years ahead of its time (Speed Racer), however, they will be putting action scenes together that will follow the format of the first matrix with the first half of the movie detailing the plot/character and the final half being non-stop action.

- Here's the big announcement. Joel repeated this twice, Keanu Reeves will be playing the character of Patrick "Eel" O'Brian a.k.a Plastic Man. Joel mentioned the Brothers felt it had been too long since they last collaborated and feel they will only ever now work with him for all their future movies.

- Looking for a Dec 09 release world wide. Tentative to change if effects work is delayed.

Only the greatest comedian of the last twenty years can possible pull this role off!!!

Drum rolls,,,,

DANE COOK

Haha! Well now it looks like it's you. You're the greatest comedian if you're suggesting that.

I can see it now "IM PLASTIC MAN!! I YELL THINGS REALLY LOUD!!! ISNT IT FUNNY!??!?! CATCHPHRASE!!!!"

You are still not getting me. I am only using "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" because of the movie poster. I also showed the film clip so show the wierd similarity to the behavior of Plastic Man's abilities. I'ts a joke or a silly pun.

It really depends on what they're doing. In the 1940s, under the great Jack Cole, Plastic Man was pretty much the straight man to all the wackiness around him, primarily supplied by Woozy Winks. He had his own sense of humor, but it was more subtle. The humor came more from Jack Cole than the character. Keanu would be fine if you're going in that direction.

If you're going to the more recent depiction, they yeah Carrey, Carrell, or another prominent comedian would be better. Heck, I've seen it suggested elsewhere, but I'll toss Steven Colbert out as an option here.

Lol Colbert is funny. But not Plastic Man's style funny. I'm going with Jim Carey 100%.

It is not only that Carrey would be a good fit, he would also be an instant box office draw as well. Carell and Stiller would be a close second and third.

YEa i agree carrey, carell and stiller would probably be a good fit but we have to wait and see if the film will actually end up happening and which direction they are going action or more comedy. I do hope it actually happens.

It should be an Action-Comedy in my opinion. Carrey would be perfect, but if not maybe Johhny Deep or Keanu. but i dont think this could happen till at least 2011 or later

Thought so.

That last sentence is strange. I can't tell if Joel is being serious or maybe just trying to be funny and nobody got the joke that the Wachowski's are going to use Keanu in all of their movies from now on.
