Keanu Reeves is John Wick. Don't Set Him Off!

Always a huge fan of Keanu Reeves movies and this was a typical one for me. I was a rare fan of 47 Ronin and thought John Wick was a really good revenge film too.

His next one Knock, Knock looks interesting though. Eli Roth directing makes me a bit sceptical though...

Well, this makes me nostalgic for all those great action cheese films of the 80s and the 90s. JCVD was part of my childhood. I can overlook the bad acting in some scenes and bad plot at times. Films now a days are all explained and we get everything wrong videos etc. I just want to see a mother****er kick the **** out of somebody sometimes.

The action in Dredd doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as The Raid 1&2.

Yeah Dredd was a different kind of action, more straight up shooter, not the kinetic, beautiful choreography of a Raid or Wick.

Sooo ideas for the second film? Prequel or straight up sequel?

I would be 100% ok if Reeves didn't return. Then they could just turn it into a spin off movie called "The Continental" and focus on the hotel.

Just spit balling here. Trying to capitolize on your already great idea.....
Set it in the future, not terribly far, but enough that there are some things we can relate to still. Follow the inners of the hotel, get to know the staff, guest, rules of the place, ect....We then have a cop showing up and poke his nose in the wrong places which causes the place to go into shutdown. One cop Vs. a hotel full of crime lords, killers, and the best of the best.
Naturally, the cop wins. At the end is when we find out who he was. His name. John Wick Dredd. Named after his uncle John W and Dredd is his fathers name.

If anything I would say it was closer to a Punisher film than anything to do with MGS.

I would say this movie is what the Hitman movie should have been. This movie captures elements of the video game with its assassin world building stuff. They should have cast Keanu as Agent 47 he would have nailed it. Also Keanu as Frank Castle would be good too in a Marvel Punisher movie. The Metal Gear Soild movies should be spy thrillers similar to Bond movies. Not balls to the walls action for much of its run time like this.

Agreed, it baffles me how they struggle to make a decent Punisher or Hitman movie when things like this get made without any licence but with just a few tweaks would easily pass for one of them. I shudder to think what they will come up for this next Hitman film.

MGS yeah I would also imagine as more spy/thriller than all out action fest.

and i am fairly positive that Keanu will indeed be back. i remember an interview he did when the film was released that he had hoped the film will gain a lot of interest to do a sequel because he would be open to come back

During watching this I couldnt help but see MGS comparisons, all I could see was Keanu as Solid Snake. I think if they were to make a MGS film it should be a James Bond/John Wick type of low key style film with a great Metal Gear battle at the end, even Cyborg Ninja would make a great appearance in an otherwise classic spy infiltration story.

Keanu as Solid Snake is something I think could work well. Solid Snake has always been this sort of aloof character that is always asking questions (obviously to help the player understand) but i think Keanu would do it justice

Oh I completely agree with you but I think I didn't express my self properly when I said low key. MGS has to be stealth based for sure, I guess what I meant by the John Wick comparison was just the look and feel of the character, that calm and perfect/cool assassin but with a soft side that is believable. Solid Snake is a badass without a doubt but he has a slight feminine side i believe, and this is coming from a huge fan of the MGS series since the playstation

That's what I wanna hear. If they can keep making these with $20-30m budgets, and they're as good as this one, I could see them making nice tidy little profits each time.

Both of those scenes blew me away with their sheer awesomeness. Now I need to buy it on Blu-ray asap.
