Great!

And if you have the chance, please shout "Skars, dammit! :cmad:" to him.

I am going to a taping of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on April 29th and Kenneth Branagh is the guest. The taping usually starts at 5 - 5:30pm PT and typically ends around 7pm. I'll post any breaking news when I get home before the telecast later that night.

Cool

Yes please do. And also get the recording of security beating you down as well. Nothing like seeing an ass whooping whether it's live or taped.

I wonder if Branagh and/or Jude Law is at all pissed about how the whole Hamlet thing shook out

Because he was going to direct a stage version of Hamlet and apparently spent a while convincing Jude Law to star. Then he was forced to drop out due to Thor commitments and another director took his place with Law still set to star. Now that Thor's delayed, he probably could have done both :funny:

Branagh has been filming Wallander in Sweden, anyone think the movie could be shot there? Would be cool to have Thor actually be shot in a Scandinavian country! :p

If I remember correctly, Iron Man 2, Thor and Cap will be filmed in California. I've read somewhere that Marvel was going to use some studios there.

Yea, that was because Favereu wanted to stay close to his family and go home at the weekends... Did't know Marvel was going to do all their movies there. If they're going to do a movie about a Northern- European God in California, it isn't going to be easy.

But, Canada is probably their best bet :p

They could turn Thor into some surfer dude. :oldrazz:
The long blond hair fits!

Hahaha, if this was a FOX movie... I don't think I would be that far from the truth. :p

Its part of marvels deal and TAX incentive to film in ca. now i do believe thor will get a small shot in n.y. for a few weeks. Obviously for the blake scenes and maybe a thor scene or two...

Other than that expect most of thor to be in asgard, thus the green screen...

I would be surprised if Branagh didn't make use of this trip to bring to the Thor movie. Some scenery shots, for example.

Just some small but good news that I saw while reading about the "Land of the Lost" set visit on AICN: the great Bo Welch ("Batman Returns", “Edward Scissorhands”, the “Men In Black” movies) will be the production designer in the Thor movie.

From AICN's Moriarty:

Frankly, I’m happy to see him still designing big movies, and I’m dying to see what his version of Asgard’s going to look like since he’s been hired to be the production designer on “Thor” for Marvel and Kenneth Branagh. That’s exciting.

That's a very good sign. The guy's great. And it also could mean we're not having lots of green screen scenes. Again, Moriarty:

And since the production designer on this film is the great Bo Welch, the sets were full-scale and fully-functional.(...) Welch is from the school of thought that if you can build something, you build it, and this film is a great example of that. They took over a big chunk of the Universal lot last summer and built as many full-sized sets as they could. My guess is that any one of those soundstages represented a larger investment than any complete season of the original Sid and Marty Krofft “Land Of The Lost” series, and there’s something really crazy about that.

I'm happy that it seems we're having real sets instead of a digital fest. :up:You can read the full story here:

Never heard of Bo Welch before, but I do tend to prefer practical effects to computer effects, so that's good news to me. Although I suspect a lot of the exterior shots will still be greenscreened. The scale of Asgard as a full city would seem to fall into the "can't build it" category.

Welsh's Batman Returns production design was great; hey, lot's of snow in that one too. ;)

Hopefully there's lot's of it in Thor.

Branagh is going to be on Craig Ferguson tomorrow

Yep. Thankfully, CBS puts full episodes of that online the next day, so I'll be able to watch it not too long after you guys.

I did love the look of Batman Returns, even at the young age I was when I saw it. Well, everything except Catwoman's costume, but that's not Welch's department. :oldrazz:

Kenneth Branagh never talked about Thor on the Late Late Show. He was there to talk about Wallander, and from there got sidetracked into a 10 minute conversation about unusual Nordic foods. Funny, but nothing of relevance to Thor.

Aw. Well, at least I can stop being pissed that CBS doesn't update their website with new episodes of their shows very often. The most recent episode on there is from April 24th. :o

that ticked me off.. most of it was banter about double-entendres about eating various swedish food specialties.. growl.. I wished Branagh had the foresight to at least slip in something about Thor.. ah well..
