Kevin Smiths Green Arrow Run

I didnt like Archers quest that much because i felt that all of the action scenes were forced. the grundy fight was put there for the sake of having a big fight in the book.

No, not really.

then wtf was grundy doing there? he's based out of Gotham why would he be in ollies old house

Why wouldnt he be? He hasnt been exclusive to Gotham for years.

This is on the big list of trades I need to get.X-Mas needs to come now.

still, what a ****ing coinsidence that he just happens to be in ollies house.

oh, come on Assassin!

have you never read a comic before?

here, you're an FMA fan. Isn't it mildly concidental that the only people to ever attempt a human transmutation were Dante and Hohenheim, Hohenheims sons, and his son's teacher? The only person not connected to them to create a homunculous was Scar's brother. Alchemy was around for centuries with thousands of practitioners, and only 5 people ever attempted to bring some one back to life, and four of those people were DIRECTLY connected.

what a ****ing coincidence

He wasn't in Ollie's house he was in Ollie's abandoned cave.

A perfect place for Grundy to live.

it felt like it was forced since there was no real villan in the book, so he couldnt think of a better way to have a big fight so he put Grundy there.

it's called an action beat - keep the audience entertained by throwing in some form of action at different points to break up what might be too much of a story for readers who're action junkies. Pay attention to the structuring of more stories, and you'll notice it everywhere. If there's a story about Superman fighting Lex Luthor, there's absolutely no reason to see him make a side stop to beat up some bank robbers - but you see it ALL the time because it keeps the pace of the action.

Oh Elijya, did you see how unrealistic that Batman issue was? Batman had travlled for miles on rooftops and the Joker just happened to be in the alley where he stopped. What a conicidence!

joker being in an alley is more probable than Grundy being at Ollies old mansion.

Grundy was in AN UNDERGROUND CAVE. For someone who lives in sewers most of the time its pretty easy to wind up in an underground cave. :whatever:

go find my post where i tell you to go **** yourself and dont respond to my posts any more, i dont think you saw it yet

"Don't do it for yourself... Do it for your boy!"

*sniff*

That gets me every time. :(

Kevin Smith's run was actually my first and only exposure to this character, in book form. I've only read Sounds of Violence, but I absolutely loved it. The humor and the vulgarity were almost sitcom like...which really gave it some perspective, compared to most books. Where as Spider-Man is cheeseball funny....this Green Arrow book was just "haha" funny. I also felt that the violence level was able to lend to the story. When I checked the graphic out from my public library, I was worried that all of the action would involve Ollie using arrows to pin people to walls or to pin their shoes to the ground...but I was floored when I saw that quite the opposite happens throughout the entire book. The young former prostitute character is also a very nice dynamic. Is she still in the books? Did Ollie make her the new Speedy, yet? As for Grundy...

A)He's a wandering Zombie
B)Do zombies really need an excuse to appear anywhere?

I'd think not. He could show up on just about anybodies back door and you shouldn't be surprised. He's a zombie, that can tear s*** up. He's the kind of character designed to be thrown down with, whenever you feel like having a good fight scene.

yes, Mia is still in the books and she has become the new Speedy, she also joined the Teen Titans briefly

if you enjoyed Sounds of Violence, be sure to read Quiver and the Archer's Quest

I haven't read it, but now that I see Ass.ass.in complaining so much about it I think I'll look it up. Considering I was a Starman fan and Solomon Grundy was part of a cast based in OPAL CITY, it's all good to me!!:D:D:D

i'm not complaining, i like it. You tropical fruit. I just feel that quiver was better because this book had a flaw.
