DC Showcase: Green Arrow

This has been my favorite DC short so far. I agree with the others who think a Green Arrow movie would be great.

I've actually watched the Jonah Hex and Green Arrow shorts quite a few times. The animation is stunning for them. I can't wait to see how Superman/Shazzam looks.

-I think Steve Blum's voice is in everything. :o Which is cool.

Love this interpretation of the costume too. I really like his current comic one, but I prefer not to have tunics in the designs if they have the "belt tied over a shirt" flap style beneath the waist.

Saw the short on youtube. It was entertaining.

This was an awesome short that captures Green Arrow's character perfectly .

Yeah I loved this short, ecspecially the Queen line at the end. Also I lived the archers duel, just shows that a GA Tv Show could work. Also they alluded to him being a hippy with the Hybrid car hs complain about getting changed in, just all around aces then i saw the credits and it said Greg Wiessman wrote it and i realized why it was so damn good.

Would love to see a Green Arrow show, or movie. Maybe someday DC will go for it. They were going to do a Green Arrow movie a few years ago, so you never know. :D

If nothing else I'd like to see a Green Arrow animated series.

P.S Ollie's Green Arrow costume in this was AWESOME!

But in that case they were going to do the supermax movie. Which is the one avenue I beg DC not to take. Especially not now we have year one for script material.

I'm not sure how much I'd like an animated series, because it risks becoming a villain of the week show, and feeling too much like the Batman series. I really enjoyed that show (not keen on Brave and the Bold), but it was still a bit kiddified (even for what is ultimately a kids show). GA has had enough unfair Batman comparisons over the decades without his cartoon becoming a street level fighting, villain of the week, light hearted, more swashbuckling version of the Batman series.

But a live action movie (TV spin off of Smallville would be tricky without ignoring what's gone before, with crossbows and compounds, and voice modulators, and targetting glasses etc) - now that I would love. And this short should be the vehicle to promote interest. DC should consider trying to get these shorts aired before things like the Smallville season finale, or the GL cinematic release (like the old days with a cartoon before the main feature). Get less recognised characters more recognition and interest.

I agree. Year One would be a great script for a Green Arrow movie. :D Yeah, an animated series I'm not sure about, mainly he doesn't have that many villains that are worth mentioning. An animated movie=Yes. A live action movie=YES.

One thing if they did base it off Year One, it might seem like Iron Man, except Green Arrow, and an Island. (Josh Holloway=Green Arrow? :P)

I really wasn't much into wanting to see more of Green Arrow until I saw this short. It needs to be a full movie or an animated series. Green Arrow's fighting style has so much potential to look great in animation. Stuff like this short makes me think that they have only scratched the surface with him in the animated world.

Yeah - the fighting style he used was a lot better to watch than over the top acrobatic spin kicks and things

My only criticism is that McDonough sounded like he was trying to perfect the Bale Batman growl when he should have just voiced it straight.

Why couldn't I find this on the Superman/Batman DVD?? Where is it?

I rented it on Netflix. No matter, I downloaded the short, it was AWESOME. The animation in these shorts are definitely channeling some anime style. It's like a mix of Bruce Timm style and anime.

I thought the GA was less anime and more realistic than some other efforts. Batman/Superman Apocalypse for example was way too anime for me. Batman's body shape and ears were just odd

I think a lot of that was them trying to channel Michael Turner's art style.

It just bothered me how badly he was getting his ass kicked by that random thug that looked like Marcus Fenix from Gears of War. That guy should go on to be a villain.
