Kevin Smith's Tusk

the behind the scene image where he is on the table smiling at the camera?

No looks like they took it in the theater. It's on the message board there.

I saw the movie and loved it. It's hilarious. Some parts are disturbing but at the same time funny and there are plenty of scenes that would fit in Clerks for comic relief. If you liked Drag Me to Hell or Cabin in the Woods you'll like this movie. I mean it's a movie about a guy named Wallace getting turned into a walrus, it's ridiculous and it knows it.

As for the secret cameo, I won't spoil it but if you know who it is and like the actor you should see it. It's probably his best role in years and you can tell that he is having fun playing the role.

^That's the vibe I got from the trailer. Some was really horrific, but that mad scientist guy clapping and laughing was kind of funny looking.

Wait the same KS who you see continually going off on people in the news when things don't go his way on set or during a production? He seems to always be feuding with someone over the slightest of things. I thought this guy had pretty much become a laughing stock now?

The only person I know with whom he had a legitimate feud (ie: not a misunderstanding/exaggeration) was Bruce Willis. Apparently that guy is a total prick. In any case, if all that you know of Kevin Smith is tabloid fodder, check out his podcasts, book and QnA's. He really is a good guy who just wants to have fun and help people out.

I'm intrigued by this one. I always appreciate it when a filmmaker steps outside of their comfort zone and tries to do something different, and if Smith pulls it off here, I can see this having a unique tone that enhances the horror side of it.

None of my local theaters got this!:argh: Closest screening is an hour away.

I wonder if Wallace is related to Brodie Bruce, he's the only other guy I know that can make a tiny beverage last that long.

Just got back from seeing it and it was good. The ending was not was I was expecting and was a little strange but I enjoyed it.

Have yet to see this, but I saw pics on Reddit of Justin Long's "full walrus" reveal.

JESUS. Much more disturbing than I imagined it would be.

holly s...............
thats as scary as you can get.

to find the image search under google images past week.

i am so angry at myself that i spoiled it. to see this for the first time when watching the movie would be a fantastic experience. but to bad that Kevin Smith was such a lazy director in the last years.

Dude I need to see this movie. I'm a pretty big kevin smith fan but didn't like red state. But that imagine I just saw can't not be unseen it's amazing I need to see how they get Justin longs to that point.

ok knew nothing about this until today, seems meh. i also looked up the leaked image. really thats what some are considering scray. the creature suit doesnt look all that great

i like that the suit looks cheap.

its reminds me of the old cheap body horror movies from the 80's. haha.

the reason i find it scary is because Justin Long went FULL WALRUS . never go full walrus hahah

the problem i find with this movie it like a lot like they try and be a so bad its good movie. it rarely works. it only seems to work when the people behind it seem to take it seriously

I loved it. I've seen it twice. First time I went alone, second time I filled my car with my girlfriend and a few friends. They all dug it (for the most part). It's got plenty of flaws and there were tons of times where the low budget was definitely apparent, but I was thoroughly entertained the entire film. It's genuinely funny, and that ****ing walrus suit is the stuff of nightmares. Real bummed to hear about it not doing so good at the box office, but I think that it got a theatrical release at all is a marvel. I hope Kev keeps putting out these kinda risky, but crazy fun sorts of films.

Harley Morenstein from Epic Meal Time was a scene stealer. Put that guy in more stuff. Hilarious.

I'm seeing this on Friday as it is debuting at my local Harkins Theatre. I have not read any spoilers about this movie as I want to experience it for myself.

I saw this movie yesterday and it is undoubtedly the worst movie I saw this year. I don't really have the highest of expectations with Smith since I don't think he ever made a movie better than Clerks and I like his standup better than i do most of his movies. Hearing him hype up the movie, I thought it was going to be something interesting and not have the flaws that I thought it had from the trailer.

This movie got WAY worse.

The first half of the movie is actually pretty good. There were some overlong scenes and it had an over-reliance on "Wow, isn't Canada weird eh?" jokes but it felt like a movie and had a good set up. Scenes with Michael Parks and Justin Long were creepy but interesting. Then…

Johnny Depp's Guy Lapointe character gets introduced and what the hell, this movie quickly takes a nosedive into horribleness. I've never seen a movie flatline this epicly. Up till this point, the movie was a started as a comedy (but wasn't funny) and evolved into a horror movie. Once Depp pops up, it quickly goes back to comedy but the movie jumps back and forth between comedy and horror in every scene and it just doesn't work. Guy is a character that serves no purpose in the movie and takes up 15 minutes of screen time in a Denny's talking about Michael Parks, all stuff we don't need to hear about.

Oh and Parks/Depp have a flashback and it's the worst scene I think I might've ever seen. I couldn't even follow what was going on because my jaw was dropped. From there, the movie devolves into set piece after set piece of quirky accents and Canada jokes, all stuff that wasn't even funny in the 90's and crammed with every Smith in joke he could fit in.

Oh and the walrus design makes no sense whatsoever. I wasn't sure if it was meant to be a costume made out of messing with Long's skin but it doesn't make sense since it turns a scrawny 160 lb guy into a 400 lb walrus. It's basically a giant cheap costume that isn't believable and it's also over lit. Smiths' favorite movie is Jaws but he never understood that the less we see of the shark, the better. Here, we see the full costume in bright lights and it doesn't hold up AT ALL.

To show how out of touch

2/10. Basically, every point I have about the movie can be summed up in Devin's badass digest review. I'd hate to be Smith's financial backers after hearing the box office for Tusk and realizing they've already green lit a spin off film with the same cast and starring Tusk's worst character, Guy

Tusk is not going to be a financial failure. He's already said they're going to be fine. Box Office really doesn't mean **** to a film like this. He's got international BO coming up, as well as home video. On a budget of $3 million, with very little spent on marketing, the financiers will absolutely make their money back.

I'm sure they'll come out of it fine if they don't have to make much on it but I'd have to wonder what they're thinking about a guy who had Johnny Depp in a horror film, a decent cast and a strange movie hook still managed to do less than a million. Businessmen will probably pull up books and say they're fine but I haven't read a single review or talked to a single person who's seen the movie and wanted to see more of Depp or the 2 clerks, enough to pin a movie around them. To me, it's like watching Amazing Spider Man 2 and thinking "Wow, Green Goblin, Rhino, and Electro were awesome! Let's make a whole movie about those guys and add 3 more and make it just about them!"

Johnny Depp is completely uncredited and I'd say it has a lot to do with union regulations. They didn't market him as being in the film outside of word of mouth review stuff. Kevin Smith is now just doing Kevin Smith stuff. He's doing it cheaply, so nobody is at financial risk.
