Kiersey Clemons IS Iris West

They totally did, and not even in the foot but point blank. I wasn't talking about what comic fans think so I don't get why you brought this up. I said they put themselves into a situation where they tried to convince people that the white girl has any chance against the black chick(or the Albanian chick I guess) and in the end trying to make it seem as if Clemons gets the role because she was the best choice for it. As if anyone would believe they might choose Boynton over her. That was the point, it has nothing to do with what some perceived vocal minority of comic fans think. You don't need to know that Iris is Caucasian to see what they were trying to do here.

She has worked with Famuyiwa already……… So she already has a greater chance than the others. Directors like to work with people they are familiar and easy to work with.

If they wanted to stir away from the TV show, they should stick to the comics then? This is just dumb and insulting to Black people

Why not just change the character's occupation instead if they wanted differentiate? I mean there's nothing wrong with promoting interracial couples and relationships in a HUGE blockbuster film. You do know a lot of people around the world still hate that stuff. We still need to promote that. We still do not have any mainstream Superhero movies with interracial couples. The Flash could be the first one.. Also Iris West was already an uninteresting character, she is pretty much Lois 1.2 like someone already said here.

If you get a white chick with red hair it would be pretty much like getting a young Amy Adams who already plays Lois Lane. It's silly people still want this. What is up with race in such insignificant roles. I mean Deadshot and Iris are characters who no one knows about. Only us comic book fans know these characters. I didn't know who Iris was when I was a kid watching the Justice League cartoons. I didn't even know the origin story of either Barry or Wally, as opposed to Batman and Superman.

Yes, I'm aware that she was in Dope. Spare me the ellipses.

I'm a black woman and I'm not insulted at all with the prospect of Iris being black in The Flash movie. I'm 100% fine with it as a matter of fact. I obviously don't speak for anyone but myself though.

Bam!

And as someone that is 1/4 African and 1/4 Indio I agree with her.

Black, White, doesnt matter to me, just bring the character to life. Thats all I want.

As others have mentioned, the character does seem like a Lois Lane rip off so I hope they make her different enough of a character. We already have tough spunky reporter that leaps head first into danger.

I'm thinking blogger/social activist. Still a reporter of sorts, but more grassroots.

I hope she has long hair… I don't want them to go away from the look Iris has in the comic s. They can change the race, the appearance and features should stay the same.

I hope she has long hair too, but mostly because I think Clemons looks better with longer hair than short.

Neither am I. Questioning a casting situation and being "insulted" by the notion of an actress not sharing a character's original ethnicity are two vastly different things that couldn't and shouldn't be correlated.

I had zero problems with Candice Patton's casting on the CW show and I have even less with this. Next time let's not try to make assumptions about racial discrimination whenever someone dares to question a casting situation that happens to involve actors of color.

yea me too.. I think she gives off a more masculine vibe with short hair. She looks hella cute with long hair be it weaves or straightened.

TheFlash: 'Dope' actress @KierseyClemons to star as Iris West in movie (EXCLUSIVE) http://bit.ly/2ar2L92

Kiersey Clemons has closed a deal to star opposite Ezra Miller in “The Flash” movie.

Variety first reported earlier this month that she was the top choice for the female lead in the Warner Bros. film.

Dope! Excited to finally see this cast coming together

They should've announced she got the role from the very start. Congrats to her, I saw Dope recently and she was great.

She is definitely a looker. Between her and Candice Patton, Barry's hit the jackpot in both universes. Let's hope movie Barry would rather get with Iris for real instead of effin' up the timeline again :oldrazz:
