Will be curious to see how Pruitt plays Pa Kent, but Neva Howell already has the Martha vibes down perfectly from that one video alone.

Replacing Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent...I hope Pruitt and Neva play the characters similar to them
Yeah, I hope Pruitt also gets an opportunity to try teach young Clark his secret identity is worth more than around 30 kids' lives, and his own.

Good times.

I wanna see Jonathan stand in a tornado, hold up his hand, and say "no, I don't want you to save me at super speed, nevermind that no one will see. Just let me DIE!!"

He was probably faking his death so he could live with a secret second family in the next town

In the MOS tornado scene, it seems obvious that the narrative was going for a heart-wrenching, no-win dilemma: Jonathan dies and Clark’s secret is preserved; or Clark saves Jonathan, but the secret is exposed. Now, it’s fair game to critique the very existence of such a dilemma in a Superman story. (Too dark, thematically inappropriate, etc.) But as presented, there was no deus ex machina (“superspeed”) third option.

I didn't really mind that he died, its how he died, with Clark watching and doing absolutely nothing. Powers or not, I couldn't just stand there.

For me, I would have preferred that Clark was on one side saving people, while Jonathan would be all the way over on the other side. Maybe several hundred yards separate the two.

Jonathan tells Clark you get those people and I'll get these.

Jonathan is pulling people from cars and pointing to the bridge For safety.
He goes for the dog like we saw and breaks his leg in the process.

Clark is busy doing the same, pulling people from cars, pointing to the bridge, etc.
He smiles to himself. It feels good to actually make a difference.

The tornado closes in on Jonathan as the dog flees to safety.. Good boy Jonathan says and smiles. Jonathan tries to hop away, but can't. He falls against a car.

A whisper is on the wind.
Clark can't really hear anything over the roar of the tornado, but he thinks he hears a very faint "Son".

Jonathan looks up, the tornado is on him. The car he's leaning against starts to rock, then hover from the wind.

Clark looks up, cocks his head, and pauses.
Dad?
He focuses hard like his mom showed him when he was little.
He hears it again. "Clark".
He tunes everything else out until he hears......"Son".
"I'm proud of you Clark". "I know you can hear me." "Your going to do great things clark". "My son". "I wish I could be here to see it"

Clark looks in the direction of the whispered voice, and sees Jonathan and a car being taken up by the huge tornado.

The last thing he sees is Jonathan looking at him and smiling as he disappears.

Clark rushes toward Jonathan as he disappears in the cloud of swirling debris and dirt.

Clark focuses even harder until he hears Jonathan's heartbeat.
He hears nothing else but that. All else is tuned out.

Also, Everything around Clark now slows down as he moves at "controlled" super speed for the very first time. ( it's not flash fast, but still very fast )

Clark still hears a heartbeat, but it's fading.

( we hear the heartbeat also in the background the whole time as Clark rushes headlong into the tornado )

Clark is dodging all manner of debris in a desperate attempt to reach Jonathan, ie, trees, cars, street signs, bits of barns, etc, thats coming towards him, but its moving slowly as he's moving much faster.
He jumps from a car to a tree to a truck, using them like a stair case.
He's now several hundred feet up.

He sees Jonathan for a brief second, but he loses him again as he disappears behind a flying broken wall from a barn.

The heartbeat slows, it's now barely beating.

Finally, Clark ( and we ) no longer hear a heartbeat. It has stopped.
Jonathan is gone.

Clark slows down to real-time and falls to the ground feet first.
Debris falls to the ground All around him. The dust starts to settle.

We see clark standing in the middle of it, from the back.
A car falls on him from above, but bounces off and crashes into a heap off to the side.
But In his grief, He doesn't even notice.

His T-shirt is torn to tatters, his jeans ripped, a shoe is missing, and he's covered in dirt.
Off in the distance, we see the tornado disappear.

Clark drops his head and puts a hand to his face. "Dad" he whispers.

A long Silence follows.

The sun slowly comes out from behind the clouds, and a single ray of light shines down where Clark is standing.

Clark slowly makes his way back to the crowd of people. They saw nothing, as they were sheltering under the bridge.

Martha smiles at first when she sees clark, but when she sees his grim face, and that Jonathan is not with him, she collapses to her knees and cries.

That's just too much, I think it would have been better if Jonatholan was like get those people to safety I'll get these, Clark is trying to get everyone, and trusts that his dad can too, just as Jonathan saves the dog debris hits him knocking him down, he yells for the dog to find Clark the dog does. He gets up but his leg is broken.

Clark hears him calling for help, but he can't see him. He uses his xray vision and just as he's about to run to him a kid his screaming in a car, he hears her and sees her mother is unconscious. He can only save one. He grabs the girl and her mother and takes them to the overpass, just then the tornado takes Jonathan. It's too late he's gone. That would have been a valuable lesson, you can't save everyone.

Either of these would have been a million times better. It feels like the only thing close to action like that was at the oil rig and that was short.

Personally I would not have cast Pruitt and Neva as Jonathan and Martha because they just both look so miscast as Superman's parents

I think they're good picks, both of them. Different from recent versions, but there's something fresh about off-kilter Kents with everyperson looks.

My only, but major, concern is that they won't be featured in the story much. No Superman movie worth a damn should give more screentime to Guy Gardner or Hawkgirl than the Kents. Hoping Gunn is doing that Tarantino thing of casting little-known/forgotten character actors knowing the role will make them stars.

I mean isn't that the point? They're not his parents, they could be literally any Two people on the planet visually, not to sound corny but it's what's inside that counts and how they nurture Clark into adulthood.

I'm curious but just generically who would you cast as the Kent's?

Exactly, I never liked the idea of the Kent's being hunks like Kurt Russell and Gena Davis. Those kinda of people should be if anything Krypton parents. The Kent's should look like your everyday folks.

As Pa Kent well Jonathan Kent I would have gone with George Clooney and as Ma Kent well Martha...Julianne Moore

The fact James didn't even bother announcing them makes me double down on my belief they're both dead.

I really hope both Kents are alive and well in this universe. I like the stories where Clark can go visit his parents back home in Kansas and confide with them. Since most modern Superman stories have some variation of usually Jonathan dying of a heart attack, it would be a refreshing change to have both Kents alive as important supporting characters in Clark's life.

I like Ma... Pa on the other hand...

As an adoptive parent myself, I have to correct you. THEY MOST CERTAINLY ARE HIS PARENTS. They may not have given birth to him. But they raised him and helped him be the man he grew to become. That is the very definition of a mother and father.
I'm something of an adoptive parent myself 😌❤️

I do believe WatchProject was implying biological parents 😁
