At the link above, you'll find more links to reviews and news on the features. I'm excited! I wish it was the version I had seen in theatres.:(

Oh..and I won the 4 disc DVD in a drawing...I just got the email.

Awsome, can't wait to buy it.

*****, your lucky for winning the drawing.

I want to see it but the theatrical version was D-U-L-L, so I'm cautious...

I waited to buy this version. I know Aybilla and Goddfrey will have more to do and more Eva Green and Liam Neeson (for completely different reasons) is not a bad thing either.

I buy the damn original a couple of weeks ago, and now there is a Director's cut?

Damn it.

Is there going to be a Special Edition King Kong DVD coming out anytime soon like LOTR?

I'd guess so as there is no commentary and the SF were kinda' crappy on the 2-disc Kong. Which pisses me off that PJ would double dip like this and that movie DOES NOT NEED TO BE LONGER, if anything it could be trimmed 15 or 20 minutes off though.

It could be an hour shorter. The original Kong was only 90 minutes.

Congratulations on winning the discs! I've been looking forward to this ever since your first thread stating this was coming out. It's going to be a big week of entertainment.

5/19 pub crawl for breast cancer research, Da Vinci Code

5/22 The Boondock Saints on the big screen

5/23 4 disc Kingdom of Heaven, special edition Boondock Saints DVD, Stephen King's Desperation on ABC

5/24 Lost season finale ABC

5/26 X3

Um....So is there going to be a Director's Cut of Kong?

I can't wait for this version, I just read some of the reviews for the directors cut and I'm really impressed

And it sucked, they couldn't even make characters out of the characters, let alone of the creatures. The characterization was laughably uneven, and they never gave the slightest sense that Kong and Ann remotely gave a **** about each other, let alone loved each other.
It works great as a so bad it's good movie though.
There was nowhere near an hour that could've been cut from PJ's film, the first act set up the core human characters perfectly; plus it's not PJ that's double dipping anyway, it's Universal.

The KOH T-cut was extremely disappointing, I'll probably give the extended cut a shot though.
Scott himself expressed disdain with the T-cut, and he did bring me Gladiator and the uber underrated Hannibal.

Hannibal underrated? If you say so.

Anyway, are you saying the original '33 Kong is bad? It may be a bit cheesy old school monster movie (the mother of giant monster movies and far above the Godzilla movies) with very much dated sfx, but it is still a classic. I think even PJ would agree that wow he added a depth not remotely seen in the original, he could not top what came before him however.

it comes out today and I'm awaiting my copy:)

Huh, whoever said they were supposed to love each other?

On topic: I hope this one's definitely better. Also, hooray for de Lauzirika. When it comes to DVD extras, he's simply unbeatable. He's really done an awful lot for the format.

Please, tell us all the new stuff in it.

haven't gotten it yet..still waiting..i'm wondering if the whole "i won the contest" thing was a joke by those people at Siddig's website:O

I want to know if it's a good buy or a waste of money.

the people who have seen it have put it on their top list of 2005 and said that this is the film that should've played in theatres last May

I've watched disc 1, and all this version is doing is reminding me of why the version I seen a year ago was such a huge disappointment while throwing in even more scenes that do little or nothing to hold my interest.

I just finished it, and my reaction is the same as above. All this did was add footage, not substance or enjoyment.

Scott spent all this time blaming the studio for a film that he butchered all by himself.

Easily the worst mainstream ancient epic since Braveheart started their re-emergence, all it did was show the same material that they did regurgitated in an inferior way.

As much as people love trashing Arthur and Alexander, they run rings around this movie, and they're among the films that this one rehashed.

Other than King Baldwin, I was either totally indifferent to, or totally bored by everything in this film.
