I don't read X-men, but I always though she could just pass through objects. Does she have this time travel power in the comics?

Kimberg is going with a secondary mutation. The movies have too liberties with worse things in the movie verse tho. So this isn't too bad. But no, she can't do that in the 616 verse.

She just can. Best just to roll with it.

I think it is pretty believabe. She can phase a person's consciousness through time, so it is actually an extension of her powers. Pretty interesting, actually.

I honestly didn't mind it. I thought it was cool and for me, it made Kitty more interesting in the X-movieverse.

Grant Morrison introduce this concept called "secondary mutation" into the X-books. That's what I'm thinking Kitty's time travel powers are. She cannot do that in the comics, but it's an interesting expansion of her powers so I'm cool with the change.

It still cracks me up that Hugh kept falling asleep for real when they were filming those scenes. Apparently he snores. :funny:

The guy appreciates a good rest. As he should. Damn right.

When my friend asked me, and I said its a secondary mutation, she totally took that, so even the GA don't seem too fussed.

Yeah, Kitty's time-travel power can probably be seen as an example of a mutant's power evolving and changing over time, similar to when Jean was evolving into Phoenix.

I can somewhat accept her mind traveling powers but how was she able to send Wolverine back to exactly 1973? It woulda been more plausible if Xavier helped too. And wasnt Wolverine in Vietnam at the time? I assumed thats what that scene with havok and toad were going to be for.

Well, clearly her powers come with some sort of temporal awareness. If she's sending people's minds into the timestream, she must know when she is sending them to, either by accessing their memories or some other process.

Don't over-think this stuff. Just enjoy the movie!

I quite enjoyed the movie but it woulda been that much more enjoyable if certain things made sense.

At begin of movie Xavier asks do mutants evolve enough to win this war? It's sure, it's her second mutation.
Also it's taken from quantum tunnelling theory:
,,Quantum Tunneling is an evanescent wave coupling effect that occurs in quantum mechanics. The correct wavelength combined with the proper tunneling barrier makes it possible to pass signals faster than light, backwards in time."

It does all make sense, they just didn't want to bog the movie down with explanations. We already had enough exposition on the time travel and on what happened between 1962 and 1973, that was quite enough. Any more and the movie would be spoonfeeding stuff to people who like every dot joined. As long as there is a logic to her power, that's fine.

I'm hoping for at least one commentary track for the home video release. They might explaing their viewpoints with everything that wasn't explained. Not that I needed DOFP to tell me in 2023 why someone had got more powers in 10+ years since I last saw the character in question, but just...their own thoughts and what they base it upon.

It just would've been perfect if Kitty said to Logan something like, "Think about 1973". To which Logan replies, "I don't remember that time". Then Xavier says "I'll help you".

And then Logan wakes up somewhere in Vietnam and preventing him from getting captured.

I don't know how people can't see it as a natural progression of her power. She could pass herself, others and objects through things. It's now evolved that she can phase a consciousness through the time flow. Think of it like this, she could phase a person through a wall, but now she has worked out how to grab and phase a certain element of a person, effectively allowing her to send it back through time. Much as she could push herself through solid objects, she can push someone back through their history. It's been over 10 years since she was last seen in The Last Stand. I'd say that's a decent amount of time for a mutant to develop their power into what her's became.
