Storms role was pivotal in X2... she saved the damn world for Christ sake! LOL. I feel like X2 was the last X-film where every character served a specific purpose, and the film itself could not function without every character fulfilling said purpose.

I think his statement is just a lame excuse

Alternatively, he might mean by that odd phrase 'deal-making aspect' that Halle's appearance isn't a deal-breaker - in other words, it won't make any different to the film if she says yes or no.

It all sounds a bit weird and hard to get a handle on.
