Knight Rider 2008: The Thread

I LIKED TONIGHT'S EPISODE, THERE WERE SOME FUN MOMENTS BETWEEN MIKE AND KITT AND I LOVED THE HOMAGE OF THE OLD SHOW'S INTRO WITH KITT DRIVING AT THE SCREEN IN THE DESERT WITH THE CLASSIC THEME MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND, PRETTY COOL!!!:D:up:

The writing seems to be "ok, we want an episode where we have numerous girls in bikinis" and then they write around that idea. And I don't care. It's stupid fun, perfect for Wednesday nights

And the previews for next week it seems to be set on the beach...

So this show turned into Baywatch with Knightrider...lol

By the way....I have a feeling they will have the Hoff return if rating start to fall more. I kinda wish he was the guy in charge of the team instead of that dude they got now.

The listing on direct TV has the second episode describing that Michael enters a drag race, pshh how many times in the old series has Michael entered a drag race? dozens of times how boring. The girl in the bar was hot after that I turned it off.

Last nights epi was way, way better than the one last week. It felt much more like the original show and Kilmer sounded a bit more awake last night.

Hopefully if the show carries on like this, by that i mean getting better each week, then i can see it surviving for a whole season at least.... If it goes back to the aweful ****fest of last week... then it'll be dead before the end of the season

I watched the new episode. God, it was horrible.

The whole race and chase later was absolutely ridiculous, horrible effects, convoluted and completely illogical. KITT and his million gadgets are so over the top it's not even remotely funny, his "Attack Mode" with neon lighting, LED side mirrors and a train cowcatcher for a front bumper is pathetic.

The cave/underground facility is completely unnecessary and with the whole team of people working with him, sort of destroys the whole "one man can make a difference" point of the original show, which made it a lot more interesting.

Why would KITTs hood have a built-in tattoo scanner and LCD? What could POSSIBLY be the reasoning for that? How could KITT get beaten by some asian in a NOS-injected hypercar? It's GODDAMN KITT!

Deanna Russo is unbelievably hot, though.

Totally agree! This 2008 version is all flash and no substance

I'm been watching the dvd pilot of the 1982 Knight rider over and over again. Mostly for nostalgia(the giant floppy disks lol) The women back then had a porn star look

Suffice to say the 1982 version is shakespeare compared to the 2008 version. I get a kick out of seeing Michael introduced to KITT.

Also KITT isn't a main star that must be glorified to the point of excess like the 2008 version. It's a machine and steps back when needed.

For example at the end there's no back talk or interaction between Micheal and devon as it's being sent for repairs. It's simply a tool.

Devon- Only you could have dented this car!

It's the people that made the show with 20% of the car being the focus.

I guess what I mean is in 2008 we know KITT is an icon and the production crew treat it as a star.

Well put!

Here's my whole thing, though, Sarah is already suspicious of Mike's army buddy, so what does she do? Takes him along to find Mike, and reveals KITT for the supercar that he is!!! You dumb b****!! What's the matter with you?!?!? Even if Mike vouched for the guy, shouldn't you be smart enough to not trust him, at least not until he gives you damn good reason!!

The episode as a whole was better than last week's, but that's not saying much. They excluded a lot of stuff that made the first episode profoundly insipid, without making that many improvements. One thing I hate is that they're totally overplaying Sarah as a formidable fighter, when Mike is the damn Army Ranger!! And it's ONE MOVE that seems to overpower any trained henchman: gun-swipe, knee to the face, then run away! But I guess they didn't train her on how to counter "shotgun butt to the face"!!

And how about the lapse in logic of Sean knowing enough about the area to know where the Chinese gang would take Mike to kill him, but not enough to know that he was about to drive off a freakin' cliff?!?!? "Gee, didn't see that drop-off coming! I guess I'll just die!"

Next week definitely looks like it's getting back the the insipidness of the first episode. Now Zoe and Billy get in on the field action! i love the Foundation's strategy to field missions; send in tech support and grad school drop-outs, while the highly trained FBI agents stand on the sidelines! Why didn't I think of that!

WILTON KNIGHT is rolling over in his grave...

Knight Rider might make a full season if it holds this well considering NBC's lackluster debuts.

CBS easily won the night in terms of overall viewers, and viewers aged 18-49. Things were not quite as bleak for ABC as I had originally feared based on the very early numbers. Once the fast affiliate ratings arrived we could at least see that ABC carried the night among 18-34 year olds. Things do look bleak however for Pushing Daisies which only scored 6.32 million viewers and did not perform well in either age demographic. Worse, still it lost viewers from the first half hour to the second (6.71 million to 5.96 million). It lost to Knight Rider (7.56 million) in viewers and in the demos

It probably still needs to do a little bit better if they hope to get a full season order. The show itself needs to improve quality-wise, as well. A ratings increase, plus good word of mouth can only help to further increase ratings, or at least give NBC an idea of how high the likelihood is that ratings will improve if they give it enough of a chance.

what bugs me about the show is that the K.I. Three Thousand seems so inferior to the Two Thousand. the original KITT didn't need to transform to reach high speeds, and the AI didn't need to be operational in order for the car to be bulletproof. plus the original could Turbo Boost without sustaining any damage.

The original KITT did transform in later seasons...it grew air spoilers....from season 2 or 3 on I believe....

I think it was Season 4 actually, but even without Super Pursuit Mode the original KITT would have been able to win that race.

Even that looked better than the 2008 attack mode. Sure KITT in the 80's got some dashboard and foot pedal modifications but the SPM was an attempt to keep viewers watching in season 4.

Thats why I have a problem with "Truck mode" and "Attack mode" for the Mustang. I think it's too much.

With audiences these days shows feel like they need some sort of catch to keep viewers or they will be bored.

Like having Deanna Russo in as little clothing as possible. Could they be any more blatant?

I definitely agree. Russo needs to at least be a C Cup to get my attention.

i'm surprised people actually liked the episode. that was propbably one of the worst hour of TV i've seen in a while. it was so cliche, and it had some really bad acting, and it drilled giant plot holes.

2 positive--
1. i did enjoy the kitt-knight buddy relationship
2. russo in a bikini---its sad tho that it seems like her job's been lowered down to be nothing more than walking around half-naked.

But at least those corny effects for 80's TV made you believe that KITT was going into SPM, this new KITT does a seamless transformation that looks like PIXAR animated it.

And the CGI background while Michael is driving is totally noticeable.

I did enjoy the homage to the original's opening in this ep, when KITT drives toward the camera in the desert...very nice.

Back during the original Knight Rider show, it was just simpler for them to show that K.I.T.T could do all of these great things without sustaining any great damage no matter how many trans ams they destroyed. With any new & unperfected technology like the new K.I.T.T. it is bound to have a few defects & vulnerabilities so it is only natural that they would have to use their fancy gadgets & gizmos to fix K.I.T.T. now & then. Does it detract from your viewing pleasure or take away from the show because the new K.I.T.T. sustains a few minor damages here & there or would you have prefered it just be an all powerful vehicle that almost never needed to be fixed?

Is it really that expensive to film real driving scenes?!?
