Remember that scene where bumblebee just looked at the new 08 camaro as he passed by? well KITT will have similar feature where he can look like any car. It's based on the cars having a similar weight and size.

Fun Fact: Bruening played the son of the character played by the soap actor Michael Knight on "All My Children"

And Knight married David Hasselhoff's ex-wife Catherine Hickland.

They tried to bring back the show with Knightrider 2000....and Hoff was in it...and it never went anywhere. Then there was Team Knightrider....and then Knightrider 2090.....Now this.

you are correct,

they tried in 1991 with KR2000 and that sucked for a variety of reasons.
firstly, they killed of Devon, had a stupid idea of the year 2000, (magic stun guns??!! and freezing bodies!?).

Not only that, the Knight 4000 car was a weird looking car, with an ugly rear end, which didn't even have front lights! not even pop up ones! just a red scanner!

Although i did enjoy the music in the movie though by Jan Hammer, seemed like a nice jazzy main theme and score.

KR2010, what the hell was that about?? that didn't even have anything to do with Knight rider!

And don't get me started on Team Knight Rider! that sucked major testicles!

its a sad state of affairs, when the 1982 pontiac with modified front end looks a million times better than this new "KITT" mustang.

Daywalker 2007, Generic car? The new K.I.T.T. is designed by Carol Shelby who designed the fantastic Shelby Cobra among others. If they weren't going back to Pontiac, then outside of maybe a Lamborghini, a Carol Shelby desinged Knight 3000 is just so cool.

don't get me wrong, the mustang shelby is a fantastic car, with a great pedigree.

But for KITT, the car should be unique in some way.

The original Pontiac for KITT was modified with a whole new front end and scanner light.

it was a unique car. you couldn't just go out and buy it. its only in the last 10 years or so, that people have been able to make affordable replicas of the KITT car.

It smacks of laziness that they chose a Mustang, and couldn't be bothered to make their own unique design and feel to the car.

Granted, if they are going to use a Mustang, why haven't they modified it sufficiently to make it unique? They could change the front end, change the rear of the car etc.

Part of the magic of Knight Rider was the car. It was unique.

This car is not unique. Its just another Mustang which any rich person can go and buy.

KITT is supposed to be unique!

well now it gives people a chance to buy a 30,000 mustang and mod a scanner light hehe. I think the reason they chose a mustang was because it was a car most people can buy. You won't believe all the mustangs I see around town.

I think their filming this movie as cheap budget and they can get ton's of mustangs

I got shades of Barricade when I saw the car that would seem appropriate since they want to get a transformers vibe
