Where do you get KITT and Mike being gay?

the fact is that the producers are clearly going for a homo / lesbo erotic route with this new series.

the lesbian fbi chick, a homosexual KITT, and a new gay lead character called Mike Traceur.



They are going straight for the MTV style audiences brought up on the Real World and P Diddy and whatever crap people watch these days.

I think they intro'd her that way to explain why she won't be drooling all over Mikey Jr,... Mikey Jr. see's himself as white trash and not good enough for his childhood sweetheart,.. And Kitt,... We don't kow if he'll ever like something else,...

Well KARR was always more masculine than KITT.

Its quite funny that Val Kilmer's voice as KITT sounded more feminine than William Daniels.

Its blatantly obvious KITT is gay. A gay interior, gay spoiler, and a gay steering wheel.

At least when Michael Knight drove KITT, he was happy to show his gayness.

I had the opposite impression, Daniels´ voice is definitely softer than Kilmer´s.

All this talk of KARR has me thinking - Given that the old episodes featuring KARR are my favorites - I would dearly welcome some kind of new take on him for the new series.

How they'd come up with a feasible explanation for his ressurrection is anyones guess - or perhaps, if not him, they could just come up with some sort of 'new' version; an entity to rival the new KITT anyways..........

Not for one second throughout the pilot did i get a 'Gay vibe' from KITT....

Then again i didn't pick up anything from the lesbian FBI chick.

Kilmer didn't sound gay to me and nothing of the Mustang's looks says gay either.

Anyway... any news of whether they are going ahead with a series or anything?

well NBC have said they are waiting for Ford to give them the sales numbers for how many mustangs they have sold since the pilot was shown.

If Ford aren't happy with their sales of mustangs, they are going to toss Knight Rider onto a skip.

It may go to a series, but it will only last a maximum of 1 season.
It won't last longer than that, NBC will pull it straight away, even if it holds viewers each week.

At the moment, the fact remains that Knight Rider is an 80s franchise.
And no continuation has been successfull since the show ended in 1986.

Its pretty much guarenteed that once the nostalgia factor wears off, and the 1980s is no longer in fashion, NBC are going to remake or continue something else.

They haven't the time or resources to sit around waiting for viewers.
They need money, and it remains to be seen whether Mike Traceur can bring in the millions.

What I do know is that comparing the acting in this new pilot with the original series from 1982 is a joke.

In my opinion, Edward Mulhare's acting is now worthy of an Oscar, especially when compared to Justin Bruening and Deana Russo in this new show.

Wouldn't it be great if KARR were the mastermind behind everything in the first season? Like, he's been plotting against KITT because he's jealous that he was discarded as some kind of inferior prototype? That'd be fun.

Well, I have no interest whatsoever in this "KITT is/isn´t gay" argument. Actually, in the movie, KITT defines itself as not truly possessing human emotions, which means it can´t develop a sense of sexual/romantic preferences.

Finally watched the whole thing. Not a total disaster, nothing to really write home about either. It seems like the basic premise was to make a big chase movie, which ain´t bad in itself, but it actually ends up being a terribly slow one at times. For something that intended itself to be more of a fun thing, it´s actually heavy on character moments, but they´re mostly incredibly generic and cliché. The final chase was actually suspenseful, but could have worked much better if we cared a bit more for the leads. Not big on the lead actors, but then again they weren´t given particularly interesting material to work with.

The big highlight for me was KITT itself, and I mean the computer, not the car. Almost all the best and wittiest moments from the pilot came from KITT´s "computer logic" point of view on human emotions and behavior. If Mike and KITT can develop the fun banter that Michael and the original had, there is some potential to the show.

The plot with the whole security company thing and Prometheus was highly implausible, but then again it´s a movie about a talking thinking car, the software that can start a war is hardly the craziest thing about it. Then again there were plot holes you can drive way more than a Mustang through, like why Charles didn´t use KITT to escape the bad guys. Or why the only guy he trusts is a screw up with huge debts to - loan shark? Gambling? One of those. You know, the show never was Citizen Kane, but Michael Knight´s story of death and rebirth in the original pilot was definitely a more compelling premise than anything in this, maybe a remake was a better idea than a sequel.

The morphing/regenerating FXs were nice, but they´ll need way more than that to get an audience to follow the series. It´s a relatively passive gadget compared to the old turbo boost or crashing through walls and stuff.

All in all, I didn´t find it a waste of time watching the movie, but I´m not sure I´d follow the series. They´d have to at least give KITT much more exciting things to do than resist a car crash.

Knight 3000's to be Auctioned for Charity

The aptly titled blog Cars + Movies were first to report that two KITTs used in the production of the new Knight Rider telepic, will be auctioned off for charity.

A Hero version and "Attack" version, two of the six that Ted Moser's Picture Car Warehouse had built for the TV Movie, will be auctioned off in Palm Beach, Florida in the end of March.

Barrett-Jackson, known as having "The Greatest Car Show on Earth", will auction these two vehicles off on March 29th at their four day event running from the 27th till the 30th. These are genuine vehicles, and while it doesn't explicitly state, are most likely screen used. The one catch tho? You have to buy in a pair.

Hero KITT:

The "hero" KITT is built off a black Mustang GT with 4.6 Liter and was upfitted with a Ford Racing Whipple Super-charger to reach 500 horsepower. Additional performance elements include a 6-piston Brembro Brakes, FRC500 Suspension Pak, High Flow Ford Racing X-Pipe and Ford Racing Mufflers with stainless tips. The exterior sports the GT500 KR fiberglass hood with KITT heartbeat light installed, Shelby GT500 front and rear bumper covers, matte black LeMans stripes, matte finish Rocker Panel, GT500 KR rear spoilers and 20" forged aluminum wheel (8 1/2" front, 10" Rear). The KITT interior has been completely renovated with props that display KITT's supercar capabilities.

Attack KITT:

The "attack" mode KITT started with a black Mustang GT with 4.6 Liter with auto trans, custom front valance/grille based on GT500 KR, carbon graphite chin spoiler, custom rear bumper cover, custom side feux air scoops, custom side skirt/rocker panel, two-tiered rear spoiler, custom window rear window insert, custom turn signal trim, custom headlight trim brow and 20" Forged Black Aluminum wheel (8 1/2" front, 10" Rear). Performance features include Brembo Brakes, a FRC Suspension Pak and Ford Racing Mufflers with stainless tips.

People may question why they would be auctioning off two vehicles, and wondering what this means for the series. Other than trying to promote a good cause and get some press with it, it means nothing at all.

The movie still netted 12.7 million viewers on it's initial airing, slaughtering the last several years of numbers for the 18-49 demographics. This is only two of the six cars that Ted Moser built, and when we interviewed him, he expected there to be more built when it went to series. The original series went through many many cars over it's run - it would be expected for cars to be switched out after they have been fully used.

But most importantly - all proceeds from the sale of these cars will be donated to Salute To Education.
