Konami distribution rep: MGS4 is coming to 360 in 2009.

If this is true, then all I have to do is wait an extra 365 days. On a positive note, it'd save me $600.

I immediately regret posting this thread.

It started another war.

It started another war.

What did you expect this is how it always happens.

First we get a rumor.

Then we get the war about Metal Gear Solid 4 appearing on the Xbox 360 or not. Those that say it won't use the fact that Konami, Sony, and Kojima have stated repeatedly that it won't. Those that say it will use the fact that there are so many rumors about it happening and the Playstation 3's low sales.

Then we get Konami or Kojima denying the rumors.

Then the Xbots and people who actually want to play Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Xbox 360 because they don't want to spend $500 on a Playstation 3 say it'll happen anyways.

The process will then repeat itself.

Square wants to have that other RPG sell well before they confirm the 360 version of FFXIII. What's the name of it again? Something weird.

Infinite Undiscovery was the name of the title going to the 360, I believe.

From Chris Priestly over there at Bioware:

When asked about the EA buyout:

They sure didn't. They paid over $860 million.

Sorry folks, this is just another rumor at this stage. Could BioWare make Mass Effect for the PS3 (or the PC, or some other platform) in the future? Yes we could, but we are not working on a PS3 version currently.

I don't know who Mr Pachter is. Maybe he's a PS3 owner who wants to play Mass Effect.

Uh oh....there goes that "currently" thing again.

He posts about some other interesting stuff too...and completely ignores the poster who asks for explication lol.

Sorry if this has been posted.

IMO I still don't see it happening just because...well, I just don't think it will. It's an RPG and it would take a hell of a long time to build two versions from the ground up like that (unless they handed it over to another team, which would suck). But I'm surprised that their contract at least allows the possibility.

Porting a massive game like ME would be a pain and might end up costing as much as a totally new game if they don't want it to be buggy crap. Methinks that if ME is going to end up on PS3, it will be the sequel as a multiplat release, built from the ground up as multiplat. They can just toss in a recap at the beginning.

That's what I would think. First of all for the reason you stated, it's a massive game and it would probably be expensive and a pain in the ass.

Second, the first game cannot appear on the Playstation 3, it's published by Microsoft, they own the publishing rights to that game.

But the sequel appearing on the Playstation 3 seems definetely possible now.

I somehow doubt that it will. That would kind of fracture the story for the PS3 version, seeing as your character never existed beforehand. It might, who knows. But I doubt a game like Mass Effect will see the light of day on the PS3.

And do you have evidence for this, or are you just going by your (easily challenged) opinion?

Mass Effect's IP is now owned by EA. EA is the one company that guarantees a multiplatform title.

And mediocre ones at that. Bioware isn't an incredibly massive studio and has more than enough projects waiting in the line to devote resources to multiplatform development. They will most likely focus on individual platforms while other devs handle the port jobs. The expected results will be obvious.

I would LOVE to see this happen, as a 360 owner and huge fan of the MGS series. But it wont.

The sad thing is, that is the obvious senario :csad:

Oh yeah, Metal Gear Solid 4 was once again confirmed to be exclusive at CES.
