Lady Sif Casting Thread (Jaimie Alexander)

Jessica Biel:

Star Power, 5'8", physically fit and can do action believably

I question if Jessica as Sif would work (just because of her hero in Blade role) but maybe if she got the Karnilla role it would work better because it is kinda casting against the normal goodie goodie roles she gets. :yay:

I've never heard of Adrianne Palicki, so I can't say anything about her acting. I don't think she'll have much recognizeability factor. Look-wise, she's tall, the right age and is very HOT. :cwink: Her face kind of looks a little like the chick from Terminator 3.
She looks like a younger, whiter Eva Mendes to me.

Which isn't a bad thing at all.

Hell no to Biel

Possibly to Eva Green. Although I don't see what makes her all that different from Portman

Sobieski would be decent, but I don't think she looks like what I'd picture Sif looking like.

Palicki was in Smallville, so I'm biased against her already. :o I guess she wouldn't be the worst pick ever, but I wouldn't jump for joy if she were cast.

I guess I'm lucky I stopped watching Smallville after the good season 3 was followed with the poor season 4.

So...are there any news about the possible Portman casting yet or ist this still a rumor?

I hope Portman is Sif. I guess I am along in this. She just has the perfect look to me for a Norse Goddess.

a midget norse goddess.
I don't think a goddess has to be tall. I'd see gods and goddess's as the ideal form of each gender. And I myself prefer petite woman. So while Thor and Fandral and such will be tall and strong. I'd rather the goddess's be beautiful and elegant, but still warriors. It is supernatural, so they don't need visible muscle to be strong.

I get what you mean but these are norse gods and goddesses and norse or scandinavian types are generally tall and just feel Sif who is paired with Thor shouldn't be petite.

I see Portman more as Hel. Closer to her body type.

Lady Sif... Lena Heady, maybe in Heels. Sif needs to be a statuesque brunette.

Funny, given that Hela is like 12 feet tall. Unlike her daddy, she ain't no runt giant. ;)

??

In the Simonson run and most Thor comic's I've read, she's not that tall. Is that how they are showing her recently, tapping into her and Fenris being a bit odd at birth? And the Runt Giant was Scourge the Executioner?

Sorry, I'm a little out of date on my current comics Thor mythology.

I really don't see Portman as an Asgardian period. I doubt her name would have ever come up as a casting suggestion for any role in Thor had it not come out in a rumor.

Sif should be about 6'3", right?
She SHOULD be, but there's absolutely no way the actress who is selected will be any taller than 5'10" or thereabouts. And that's a maximum.

More like 6' or 6'1". Thor himself is only 6'6".

Hela can change her height, I believe. Sometimes she's super-tall, sometimes she's normal-size. I prefer her super-tall, though. She rules the afterlife, after all. Gotta be imposing.

Her father, the runt giant, is Loki. Her mother, Angrboda, was a normal giant, I think. Not too sure on that, though.

Most of my comics with Hela she is about 11-12 feet tall.

I'd agree with that in regards to the Olympian gods and goddesses but not with the Norse deities.

Norse goddess's weren't that big. Especially not Sif. She wasn't any kind of warrior in the mythology. Not saying she shouldn't be a warrior because she is in the comics. But don't cite the mythology on her being taller and more athletic.
