Lady Sif Casting Thread (Jaimie Alexander)

It wouldn't ruin the movie, but it'd suck. Thor's got flowing golden locks. He just does, damn it! :argh:

If they made Jamie dye/color her hair black (when it's already dark brown) for the role of Sif, I sincerely doubt they would overlook the phenotypic traits of the main character in the film.

Looking back, for Fantastic Four they made (or tried anyhow) to make Alba look like a blonde haired blue eyed Sue Storm but Chris Evans didn't get his hair color changed to match Johnny from the comics.

Jaimie Alexander Talks Thor
The actress who will bring life to Sif in Kenneth Branagh's Thor discusses the movie rehearsals, and also debunks the Justin Chatwin as Balder rumor..
With director Kenneth Branagh’s highly anticipated “Thor” adaptation set to begin shooting next month, actress Jaimie Alexander has been constantly updating fans with info from the upcoming film.

These are some of her tweets..

“ met Anthony Hopkins today... Such a lovely man. Such a pleasure,”

“ can't stop staring at Thor's arms... Chris [Hemsworth] is HUGE!”

“Justin Chatwin isn't going to be in Thor, Just clearing up another rumor. Sleep well out there.”

“[I feel] bad for accidentally punching Fandral(Stuart Townsend) in the stomach, Good thing he's a sweet guy!”

Alexander also noted that she now has “raven black hair” as part of her "Sif makeover."

“[I am] so thankful for all the wonderful people working on Thor, I am truly blessed.”

Forgot the one where 'Frigga' brought her something to drink.

It made me chuckle a bit to see you'd be pissed about Thor having a haircut yet am perfectly fine with Heimdall being a black guy. :funny:

Ah, but that was Fox and it was directed by the guy who helmed Taxi.

I wouldnt use anything from the Fantastic Four movies as a gauge. :cwink:

yea fox/tim story is one thing. And marvel studios and kenneth is a totally different beast. I am sure thor will look good. and chris who likely is wearing a wig due to he didnt have time to grow out his hair will probably look fine.

I'd be so pissed if they'd go with Sam Worthington-look for Thor.

Seriously, just where has this notion of a short-haired Thor come from?

Odds are that Hemsworth will be wearing a wig on set, so we're hardly going to get any shots of him with the long hair as he pops to the supermarket, are we? But no, just because they havent seen it, people start to make assumptions up the wazoo.

Anyways, in regards to Alexander - if she got into any kind of shape that looked as good in Gina Carano for Sif, I'd be happy.

It's coming from those scrapped video game designs people have posted on other threads. Thor has a huge helmet with no hair showing out the back of it. Couple that with the fact that Hemsworth's hair is very short due to Red Dawn and people are wondering if they'll bother with the wig or just leave Thor with short hair. I don't really think it's a serious concern, though. We just don't have much else to talk about at the moment. :o

Ah right. Cheers for clearing that up Corp.

Key word in all that for me is 'scrapped' though - so I'd assume that the designs can't really be indicitive of the final look that Hemsworth will sport?

Of course, now that I've thought about it, I'm intrigued. I'm trying to picture comic book Thor with short hair and I'm struggling with the image.

Has Thor ever been shown sporting a short, back and sides?

Not that I can recall. Closest he's gotten is tying his hair back in a ponytail a few times.

Thor with short hair just seems wrong.

I agree. It's not really a defining characteristic, per se, since you could take the costumes off Thor and, say, the Sentry and you'd never be able to tell the difference; but the thought of a short-haired Thor just does not compute.

In all seriousness though, I really wouldn't like for Thor to have short hair in the movie. I know things things from the comics are always changed in the movies, but I am one of those people that like for things to remain as close to the comics as possible.

Hi everyone, this is my first time to post on the SHH boards. I have lurked on them for a long time(since around X-Men 2), but have been afraid to post. I have started posting on other message boards recently, and when I saw the above post, I couldn't resist posting that image. It is from Thor #89, which also has one of my favorite Thor covers. I have always thought Jane's daydream was really funny. Thor is my favorite comic character, and I have closely followed any news about the Thor movie. I have really enjoyed lurking on this board, and finding out all the Thor movie news as it happens has been fun.

Yea great post thjan. Why were you afraid to post?

I am just really shy. For some reason it even extends somewhat to the Internet. It took me a really long time to get up the nerve to post on other forums too. Maybe afraid was the wrong word to use though. By the way, thanks for the welcomes.

I am looking forward to more tweets from Jaimie Alexander concerning the Thor movie.

yea i still say he will have long hair/wig and things will probably be ok.

I was like that too. I lurked round for ages with an inferiority complex of all these guys with 50,000 posts and such. Took me a while to work up the nerve - God, I shudder to think what my 1st post actually was; it was probably just the standard 'I agree' or something that you tend to see alot from new posters. :hehe:
