Comics Latest My Cup O' Joe--Quesada drops a Spider-Man related bombshell

I thought of something that couple completely make sense. something we've discussed on this form many times. when Spider-Man broke into jail to beat the **** out of the Kingpin. I mean it kinda makes sense. I mean we just had an arc when Spidey was in jail and no one in the jail mentioned that. There is no way he could have been in that jail with the Kingpin and then there less than 2 years later and no one in the entire jail makes a comment to Spidey about it.

But how does Spidey not beating the crap out of Kingpin warrant a story or change anything? Would that really be something they hype, let alone acknowledge or delve into? Okay.... so let's say Spidey doesn't beat up Kingpin. What changes as a result? If an event that small was what they were breathlessly hinting at then.... wow, that will be the king of all letdowns.

well they will tell us what "really" happened during that time.

....................

Peter went for a bagel...?

(Sorry, just having fun :oldrazz: )

Perhaps he never got bitten by the spider. That surely would be a big change ;)

I'm still betting money that Aunt May never got shot. It makes sense. I mean, wouldnt aunt may be wondering right now why she got shot in the first place? Plus if aunt may didnt get shot then Spidey would never have confronted the kingpin and beat him half to death. Basically all the events that led to OMD probably never happened. If they still did, it just wouldnt make sense.

Aloha,
Either she never got shot or she was not mortally wounded. The issue of OMD was that NO ONE could save her. Not scientist nor magicians. So she could have gotten shot but just not critically. But then, how would the assassin know where to shoot, if Peter's identity was not revealed? That's the "WE" that Peter is referring to.Stay tuned Spider-Man fans.:word:

Aha, but peter's id WAS revealed, people just dont remember that it was. In other words the sniper shot some old lady and he has no recollection of doing it. Aunt may got shot and she doesnt even know why. And as a result Kingpin got his butt handed to him badly and HE doesnt know why. You see how none of this makes sense in BND continuity?

I thought it was established that Aunt May was healed by Mr Negative.

Anyway, people get shot. It happens. Hell, just ask Uncle Ben. :yay:

It's funny to me, that, now that Joe Q admitted something else couldn't have happened, now everyone is guessing what it could be, an we're all finding dozens upon dozens of examples of thigns that just couldn't have happened the same way.

Yet, the marriage being changed to "living together" doesn't make a difference....:oldrazz:

i THOUGHT Mr. Neg healed people at the center that were ill (not May) and the guy who use to be Venom and became anti-venom

This is not the first time that a Mind Wipe has happened in Amazing Spider-Man continuity. For some reason, fanboys have forgotten that Spider-Man was Mephisto's Champion to save the Universe which included his Underworld in Amazing Spider-Man 273 and 274 as well as PPS-M 111.The Beyonder wiped out all memory of that event.Funny, in this case Spider-Man had to SAVE the Kingpin from certain death. One thing I do know. The current direction of Amazing Spider-Man is being carried out in such a way that they are a year to a year and a half into story development. That was never done in the history of Spider-Man. Lee/Ditko thought them up almost monthly. As long as we the fans keep asking questions where we see holes, Marvel sooner or later will respond.

Eh, marriage being changed to living together doesn't affect anything but the kid, who doesn't really affect anything either due to Marvel suppressing the existence of a Parker child over the past 10 years.

Aloha,
So true!!

thats kinda true, i mean the only difference between "marriage" and "living together" is that there's a shiny label on it, there's really no difference....unless you wanna go into all the legal stuff. hehe.

Ummm.....there is a BIG difference actually....

Some of you should try it....marriage.....a real brand new day.

Playing house is nothing at all like a committed relationship where vows have been exchanged before others and God.

Marriage is a sacred institution, people "living together" is not. Living together is like high schoolers or middle schoolers dating. That's all it is...dating. Marriage is marrige.

It is just like people driving a car around the block. Not like owning it and buying it and taking care of it. People who rent cars for instance ride them harder, don't care for them as carefully, compared to (Cars) something they've personally invested in and own.

Well, I can only talk about myself, but I'll put my relationship up against most marriages I know. If you feel like belittling it somehow proves your point, well, congratulations. Frankly, it's small-minded attitudes like that that drive people away from religion in droves.

Aloha,
Actually, to stay on point. In the relationship between Peter and MJ, living together for the amount of years that they did(common law marriage) produced the same stories as being married. And like I said, no marriage, no honeymoon, just a lover's holiday. But they could have still gone to Paris. The whole issue of whether baby May ever happened, is one Marvel(within Amazing continuity) has been trying to distance themselves from for many years long before BND as Blader5489 was referring to. On a personal note-this June 24th makes 14 years of marriage for me:word:For me, no marriage would have meant never getting all those great wedding gifts:cwink:

I'm just tired of everyone belittling marriage, actually.

If you reread posts here and elsewhere, whenever it is brought up, everyone just states how there is NO DIFFERENCE between marriage and living together. Which just seems like a totally empty statement, to me.

Not trying to be belilttling, but the opposite...standing up for marriage.
I mean it is tough, now that spidey writers and the EIC aren't too fond in portraying the strength of it either, throwing it under the bus and saying nothing is different.

I like my marriage, but my marriage by no means solidifies my relationship with my wife...

My LOVE for my best friend/wife is what solidifies my relationship with her.

Had we opted to simply live together, I'd be just as happy with her now as I am today...

Really...

:yay:

You're talking about real life. I'm talking about a comic book.

Also, I really take umbrage with what you're saying about marriage, but that's a topic for another thread.

Like Blader, I take issue with this.

Having a girlfriend is not like renting an old car and driving it around the block and not "caring for it as carefully." I find that analogy offensive and further I find it completely nonsensical. There's more love in my relationship with my girlfriend then there is in many loveless marriages. And cars... what a cumbersome, cold thing to compare a loved one to.

You know what's REALLY like an old car, meant to be beat up and become worn from use? A comic. So stop taking them so damn seriously. You might find you could *shock* even enjoy the books a bit, if you could just loosen up.
