Do you think there'd be a recast for an older actress? Because she's pretty hard to top off after Logan. She's so feral and raw and heart-warming at the same time.

She's what? 12/13? Film her movie in about 3-4 years and I think it could work.

I prefer to see a X-Factor film featuring Polaris, Forge, M, Strong Guy and Multiple Man than another Wolverine film, in this case a Wolverine knock off movie.

I suspect Mangold if he directs will want to keep Laura as a kid so i could see it being the same actress.

And now we know that Mangold is working on a script WITH Dafne Keen's Laura in mind. Just in the early writing phase, though, since Mangold has another project in the works now.

The film is continuing to defy expectations. While Logan is the rare superhero project that doesn't exist to help set up a shared universe or sequels, a spinoff is brewing ("We're just working on a script," Mangold says of a film that would center on Dafne Keen's Laura). And it has emerged as a possible awards contender.

So it's indeed happening.

so maybe this is march 2021 mystery film.glad to see this is moving forward and with Mangold too.

Hopefully Mangold is given the time to finish his project so that he can direct this X-23 film in addition to writing. That or I wager finding a director who gets both his script and this material. Though I'd lean towards Fox giving Mangold the space he needs.

"Patty's success with that film only solidifies more for studios that there's less to fear with a female protagonist," says Mangold. "The more that keeps getting hit home, that ends up giving me more space turning around and going, 'Well, here we are with a female protagonist. That's incredible. And what are we going to do with her?' And that's where we are with that [the Laura script] right now, dreaming."

As Fox gears up to release three X-Men films next year, the studio has signaled interest in exploring the Marvel mutants through different film genres. April's New Mutants is being positioned as a horror film, for example, and a Laura spinoff could potentially branch out from the western-noir-tinged Logan.

X-Yeah! :xmen:-Tecuani / 23

Should be interesting see which Genre is used when this gets made.

I was a huge fan of Dafne Keen's Laura. This is great news.

It's so disgusting that they actually need to convince the industry into investing the female characters. Ugh. Anyway, I can only hope that the success of Wonder Woman (and hopefully Captain Marvel) become a huge kick in the ball of this sexist industry. And a wake up call.

And I love coming of age movies, so I'm down for that.

Keen was great as Laura (or rather, as Logan's version of her) but I don't know if she'd be able to carry an entire movie on her own. She's still so young.

That's what a strong supporting cast is there for.

If anything, the movies are playing catch-up as far as female prominence goes, because on the TV and streaming side of things, we've had Jessica Jones, Supergirl, Agent Carter, iZombie to name a few, so the industry is aware, but the films are lagging where the smaller screen stuff has already taken off.

Mangold did say that if he made a film about Laura, it'd be a very honest movie about people growing up, so in that regard, I hope Mangold is able to deliver on an emotionally potent and honest portrayal of a young girl growing up after the events of Logan. It'd be something really different.

Whoa. I'd watch an X-23 film. No one here thought of her for a solo.

Minor update: Craig Kyle, the creator of Laura, is working on the treatment with James. Mangold already consulted with Kyle during Logan's production, and it seems like Kyle will be able to finally write a story about a young Laura growing up!

Who should be Kimura?

My main choices are Maggie Q, Grace Park and Julia Ling.

And Kyla Deaver or Harley Smith for Kiden Nixon.
