Official Silk Spectre I & II Appreciation Thread!

My dad REALLY liked her, but in looks.

He mentioned the film to me and brought up, "I really liked the girl though."

I'll just say that I liked Carla a lot in her role. She made Sally more likable and added a 1930s/40s/50s movie-star vibe a la Ava Gardner, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly etc. to the role. I also think some of the pin-up shots she did for the movie were stunning. But she just made her a likable and sympathetic character with her short screentime and I enjoyed her cameo in Under the Hood as well.

Malin Akerman really pushed herself in the role. I don't think she is a terrible actress, but she is quite limited. And in any scene relating with her emotions towards the Comedian and some of her bigger scenes with Dan (like convincing him to take Archie out or saying she left Jon), showed some struggle to get there. She wasn't awful, but honestly another actress could have done better. But Akerman did not phone it in and she wasn't distractingly terrible, either.

I like movie Laurie better than comic Laurie, Laurie in the book was way too *****y for me.

Althought I wish they would have shown the scene at the party in Edward's honor IIRC, we saw the pics for it so we know that a scene had to be shot, just to see how Akerman's acting was in the scene.

Hmm... but does making her more likable undermine what Moore was originally going for with her?

I both were smoking and great in the movie, Gugino particularly was good in the rape scene as Akerman was on Mars, both of which are their defining scene's in both the movie and the book and they both sold them for me.

BTW, anyone know if in the DC the of Sally kissing the Comedian's picture is back in at the end of the movie?

Yeah she was.

Well thanks for the gif.
