Lee Bermejo and Brian Azzarello's Joker Graphic Novel

Like it or not?

It looked really good. I'm interested in reading it. Didn't really read the dialogue, just looked at the pictures. I did get saddened seeing Harvey's frightened face clutched in Joker's hands, though. :csad:

I just read the book and all i can say is:wow: :woot:the characters from johnny Frost to Stripper Quinn to Killer Croc to Joker to Batman were potrayed verry good(I kinda don't like the two face. I'm a fan of vigilante Two-face in Dark Knight)
I go by two systems one is the funny joker's system 5- is Ceasar Romero/jack Nichealson/Mark Hamil's campy/funny joker to Frank Millar serious joker is 1( this is a 3) and the best joker 5-Heath Ledger to 1 Ceasar Romero's joker(4). So in other's word it is a pretty good novel.

I thought this book was awesome. I had a twist of Ledger/Hamill voice in my head.

I also thought the Riddler was intresting. The concept made his red hair look okay, but I think brown would've been better.

Just brought this and Batman: Faces. Looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about.

The best moment was the one line Batman delievers to Joker. I found this to be the funniest moment from the book.

amen. Thats up there with some of my favorite batman lines

Kingdom come - "Shazam"
The Joker - "To Mock you"
Batman and Robin All-Star - "I am the goddamn Batman"

I've just read it and am not too impressed.
It just doesn't feel like The Joker. Raping people and skinning a guy alive. Seems like a slasher psycho rather than the character from the comics. And no matter what the context I really did not like the crying moment.
The comparisons to The Killing Joke were completely misguided, for although the artwork seems similar at some points the story is nowhere near as interesting. It all seemed so cluttered and there wasn't a real focus. Plus, The Joker's speaking patterns weren't eloquent enough. He came across like a two-bit hoodlum rather than the deranged showman we know him as.
And making Two-Face a real mob boss? Didn't work. It just made Dent look like a chicken **** when I always saw him as a no-nonsense type of guy. Like Batman's pissed off, homicidal shadow.
Although he was drawn very well.

All in all it was a mediocre story with truly stunning art. I regret buying it.

Great. The art wasn't brilliant but the writer really understood Two-Face.
Pretty much summed up at the end:

Bruce: In his own way, Harvey was just trying to get justice.
Alread: Yes, but with a lot more murder than you employ.

Or something like that. And the fact that Dent was threatening the freaks to go along with his plan was a superb twist I didn't see coming. It's a scary guy who wants to save you whilst threatening to kill your children.
A great story I can highly recommend.

couldnt disagree more.

Yea I don't know how Ronny came to them conclusions. I mean how is that skinning scene not pure Joker? He was in a strip club, and he stripped the man of his flesh and slapped a one dollar bill on his ass. If that isn't Joker-esque then I don't know what is. And he was crying because it's showing that his mind is all over the place. One minute happy, the next furious and then the next hysterically sad. Or maybe he was crying and Harley didn't look impressed because he couldn't get it up from all them pills he takes.
I thought it was brilliant, one of the best GNs i've read in years.

ya, that was hardcore true to character. Her actions and just the whole set up was an amped up version of TAS

Yo, Captain Clown, I scanned through pages of ASB&R last week in the bookstore. I have to say, it was hilarious! I was laughing my ass of when Batman ranted off on GL's weakness to yelloe and then him and Robin painted GL's whole apartment and themselves yellow and drinking lemonade.

"Damn you and your lemonade!" :woot:

Exactly, you get it. It is like watching Crank. So over the top its amazing. He spends a couple issues trying to impress Robin with his batmobile. He talks with a bad Clint Eastwood impression and hates everyone with superpowers. I don't get how someone could hate something so funny.

Oh! GL's characterization there is awesome, Batman's description of him really made me lol. I loved ASB&R, the only think it bothered me was Joker's tattoo and high heels :|

Loved the Sadomasochist WW and Supes scene.

Yeah, same here. Tons of Bat fan hate it and look at it as the anti-christ, but I just don't take it seriously so when most people are complaining abotu Batman getting laid, I'm laughing my ass off.
