Legion of SuperHeroes

Maybe in DC movies phase two.

Team could be - Brainac 5, Chameleon boy , Saturn girl, Cosmic boy, Mon El, Ultra Boy, triplicate girl and Phantom girl.

The rest are not important. (Note that I have excluded Super boy and Super girl as their chances of appearing in this movie are slim. )

This is the problem with DC, either you get complaiments about "no comedy style" so they wouldn't be seen as copying Marvel too much or you get these news where WB wants to copy Marvel.

I mean, if they wanted to copy GOTG then pick up a R.E.B.E.L comic for pete's sake, even i know that, not Legion of Super Heroes. :b

Lightning Lad is a must for me. I'd have him, Brainiac 5, Saturn Girl, Bouncing Boy, Cosmic Boy, and Triplicate

Garth Ranzz ?

Yeah, he is important member of the team.

Yep. Gar. He's my favorite member

Also Drz is right, if they just wanted their own version of Guardians they could use R.E.B.E.L.S or The Omega Men

If they do a Legion Of Superheroes movie, Brainiac 5 is a must, as well as Mon-El. In terms of DC trying to copy Marvel's GOTG, I'd go with Doom Patrol better.

Maybe we will have the new 52 of Captain Carrot aka Captain K'rot?

I'm not surprised by this. I saw this coming. Shame WB didn't have the balls to take a gamble and release this a few years ago. I remember it was announced here that hollywood Writer and producer Akiva Goldsman was working to bring a LSH movie to the big screen but I assumed it got stuck in development hell by the WB brass, who found more excuses not to do it then to do it. To be fair I never thought it would be put in production anytime soon if ever, especially when DC had more popular characters they could work on first. Looks like GOTG may have changed all that.

LSH is the only comic that DC probably has in its stable that's similar to GOTG with the whole cosmic theme. Doom Patrol or REBELS???? Um no those comic failed quickly, especially REBELS. The LSH had a fantastic run for decades. It's one of my favorite titles to this day. I read it in the 90's, and some in the 2000's but the 90's run were the best for me. I forgot who the writer was but he blended humor, action and seriousness rather good. It was a fun and light hearted and at times dark. If WB is smart they'll have that guy involved in some capacity. The movie should have the tone of the comics. There is such potential here. You got the variety of aliens and future technology. I hope they can pull it off if they decide to move forward.

As far as the line up I can say with certainty that Cosmic Boy, Lightening Lad and Saturn Girl will be on the team. I wanna say Brainiac 5 but the idiots at WB will probably see another green skinned alien as to close to GOTG but hopefully not. Chameleon Boy or Gates or maybe both with be on the team cause their will be a non humanoid team member if DC is trying to follow Marvel in some capacity. Most of the LSH consist of human characters or aliens that look human but have special powers. They should put a member on the team that is far from humanoid. Personally I like Gates and he's also funny and he'll have to be all cgi. Chameleon Boy is a shape shifter so he'll be human looking in appearance for most of the film if used. The rest of the line up is open and with the potential for sequels that can shift the roaster in the future. It's like 30 or 40 of them kids. I hope WB takes it time and get a creative team that get's the characters cause if not or they micro manage it to death we'll end up with another Green Lantern.

This was my absolute favorite title as a kid. I would chew nails to see good Legion movie. I wonder who they'd chose for a bad guy? Computo? Mordru? The Time Trapper? Just no Sun-Eater, I think we've had enough giant clouds in space!

I wouldn't worry about making a GOTG style movie.

That's the same stupidity that got us a decade of Harry Potter wannabes. That's why Hunger Games succeeded. It a YA novel but it wasn't the same magic....it was a dystopian novel with a girl(now we have a bunch of those).

Hopefully the WB lets LOSH be it's own thing. If people want GOTG, they will go to GOTG.

They should make this more in the style of Stargate the Movie.

That's irrelevant.

If they want to copy a cosmic team of rebels, then REBELS is a far better option. Heck, even a Lobo movie would be better than Legion of Superheroes when it comes to an answer to GOTG.

I don't know about it being connected to the current DCCU, we can't be knowing what the future holds when there are still big threats that we haven't even gotten to. Maybe it's something to do at the end of the CU.

Don't know what this has to do with GOTG, though.

People see this as DC's answer to Marvel's cosmic superhero team.

I think it's great that they're doing this, it's a nice way to expand on Superman's influence.

Agreed but to a point. LSH should be its on thing however having a tone similar to GOTG isn't a bad thing especially since the Legion is close in tone anyway but with differences.

Funny you say LSH should be it's own thing but in the same breath you say it should be in the style of Stargate?????? So then it wouldn't be its own thing if its in tone to Stargate. I don't see a problem with LSH being fun and comedic and serious like GOTG as a bad thing. Just because a movie is similar in tone and feel doesn't mean it copies the movie exactly. LSH if done well will have it's distinctness.

Legion of Super Heroes is a tricky concept to make into a movie because, well, they're a legion. The team has several dozen members. That's a lot of characters to juggle. And cutting down the size of the cast might hurt the main narrative appeal of the property.

The majority can be background characters.

I don't know much of anything about the legion, but I think showing a world with dozens if not hundreds of superheroes could be what makes it unique.

Lol. I see.

I meant if you're going to emulate something, don't emulate something that people are already getting.

Stargate had a campy, yet serious threat.

As for villains, I might use the Dominators or Tyr as the villain(s).

Well the Avengers have a ton of members. You have to juggle them and decide who to use. Even in the comics their was never more then 6 or 7 Legion members on a mission. You can't possibly show all the team members in a movie, heck even in the comics without multiple issues. They can touch on the massive team numbers but it's just unrealistic to expect all the characters to be used. In a movie I see the max number dealing with a crisis to be 9. Ideally I think the team in a movie will consist of 6 to 7 people.

I think is his point was that, in a film, 6 people can be the Avengers, but nowhere can you call 7 people a "legion." Also, part of the appeal of the LOSH is that there are dozens of them, that's part of the coolness for them. So without that, they're less cool. The Avengers have dozens of members just because the team is popular.

I think if you build the universe right, with just a bit of camp and make the big moment to start the third act this huge recruitment where the work of the few founders has paid off and now there's 30 super powered teenagers ready to wreck shop I think you could have something really cool. To further reference GotG, it'd be a bit like Footloose. There's 3-4 main characters but in the end all the background teenaged characters join in the heroic action.

I'd focus on Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad as the three leads. I'd actually center on Cosmic Boy and let Lightning Lad be the dynamic foil while Cosmic Boy is the more subdued introspective main character.

Brainiac 5, Triplicate Girl, Bouncing Boy and Invisible Kid would be the primary recruits, and they'd all have really bad downsides and appear wack (except B5, he'd just have a bad reputation), but then in the end show themselves to be utter badasses who helped finish the recruiting and bring in the biggest baddest cameo shot which ends in a final sequence much like the end of IM3, where a lot of LOSH cameo while the action focuses on the two or three leads.

My LOSH Roster:
Leads: Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad
Co Stars: Brainiac 5, Bouncing Boy, Invisible Kid, Triplicate Girl
Minor Speaking Roles to set up next time: Karate Kid, Chameleon Kid, Laurel Gand, Colossal Boy, Timberwolf, Kid Quantum I
Then just cameo about 20 others, mostly the silver age guys but use the new Star Boy, XS, Gates, Sensor, and set up future stuff with Nemesis Kid.

But honestly... I don't know enough about the LOSH to have any useful commentary on their villains, which is weird cuz I've at least seen a few episodes of the cartoon.

Wow! I like your idea but the critics would rip the movie to shreds as they always do when to many characters are in a film and no development. They wouldn't get the concept they'll just say all these characters were just in their to flash some cool power. They don't get it but yeah that's a good route to take and needed. You're right, they are a legion. Can't be a legion with 6 or 7 members.

They legion should be diverse, which they are but I'm talking the probably 6 or 7 members that the movie will have to focus on. I don't want see all human looking white people. I mean Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy, Triplicate Girl, Bouncing Boy, Star Boy, Invisible Kid, and Lightening Lad?? Really? All these alien teen with powers also happen to be white? Sorry but no thanks. It's a given that the main three will be up front and center as they should but the rest should be different. Gates has to be in the forefront and not a background character.

To be diverse, you would need Dawnstar and Tyroc and possibly the Black Invisible Kid. though really you need Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy to make the movie work.

I just watched the first episode of the animated series and enjoyed it a lot. Though some of the characters don't seem terribly unique on their own, the overall feel definitely is. It's so old-school but fresh at the same time.

There's no real superhero franchise right now about 'a world of superheroes'. X-Men in the comics does, but in the movies right now, set in the past, they're always trying to stay hidden, and they don't really play with the 'fun' or sense of wonder of that world. I think Legion could fill that void. Have dozens or hundreds of heroes, and keep the cheesy names, the lighter tone and everything.

(and if they did bring in young Clark, which I really really think they should do, would it be weird if they had it in continuity with MOS and used the same actor? Saturn Girl could always wipe his mind before he's sent back ;). Also, Josh Gad for Bouncing Boy.).
