Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

When Amazon tells me the game is arriving on Thursday for some reason:

I finished off story mode with the sequel trilogy over the weekend. Still nowhere near done with it based on all you can do with free roam but I gotta say for me this is easily the best Lego game to date. The game even made my least favorite films in the saga fun. The only gripes I have really are from aforementioned omitted moments from the movies.

The game is basically a near-perfect recap of the saga but there are a handful of moments that I really wish were playable. Maul vs. Qui-Gon on Tatooine, the ground battle on Geonosis, the Battle over Coruscant, Mace Windu vs. Palpatine, Obi-Wan vs. Vader on the Death Star, the Assault on the Death Star II, Finn and Poe's escape in the TIE Fighter, the Battle of Crait, and the Air Assault above Exegol are all only cutscenes. I get that some of them may have been a little redundant but if they had all been included then it would have kicked it up from a 9/10 to a perfect 10 from me.

The Empire Strikes Back is really the only episode in the game that feels like nothing important was omitted as far as gameplay but that's also an easy feat since it's maybe the least action-packed of the films along with The Last Jedi.

So who else has been playing? :iayf:

I've been playing it. One mission into ANH so far, enjoying it. The perspective switch is a massive help along with the revised gameplay, boss battles are a joy, humour is on point, and it looks gorgeous. I do have some concerns once it gets out into the side missions as the ones I've briefly touched have felt a bit insubstantial, but we'll see. Revenge of the Sith is fantastic here though, because 4/5 include or are entirely big, fun boss battles.

Yeah, ROTS felt like the quickest playthrough of all the films in the game and that's because it was mainly boss fights.

My incredibly definitive, objective episode rankings based on my overall enjoyment of their five levels, plus each campaign's best:
1. Rise of Skywalker - Be With Me
2. Revenge of the Sith - So Uncivilized
3. A New Hope - Best Leia'd Plans
4. The Force Awakens - Destroying Starkiller
5. The Empire Strikes Back - Revelations!
6. Attack of the Clones - The Hunt for Jango
7. Return of the Jedi - The Copa-Khetanna
8. The Last Jedi - Master Codebreak-Out
9. The Phantom Menace - Better Call Maul

I enjoyed them all. I can't really pinpoint a favorite right now but I did have a lot of fun with the prequels in particular. I can say that The Force Awakens was my least favorite to play through. Not because it wasn't good but I might have enjoyed it more if I had never played the Lego TFA game that came out shortly after the movie did, and of course the TFA levels in The Skywalker Saga just felt like a condensed version of that. I actually wonder if they had planned on making Lego games for The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker but then scrapped that idea entirely in favor of just making one big game encompassing the entire saga.

I'm currently buying anything and everything in free roam after buying all the stud multipliers. Something I do find annoying is that you can only go back and replay the main levels for each episode and not the interstitial missions between them unless you create an entirely new save.

One advantage of taking the game slow so far is that I get the "story so far" opening scrolls when I continue my save. And they are great. When I continued AOTC after the Zam chase, it starts" DRAMA!".

This one definitely bugs me, especially since in a new save you have to start at the beginning of a trilogy, you can't just skip straight to Empire, Last Jedi or Revenge of the Sith. It'd be nice to be able to just properly replay an episode's story. Also, it kinda bummed me out not getting the battle of Coruscant or the space battle of Endor/Death Star II, considering how packed the rest of the game is, it almost feels like some things got cut for the sake of having each episode have the same number of missions.

Working on this myself. I have only had maybe two hours to play. Starting with the prequel games and moving forward. Barely managed to get to Tatooine before I had to stop, again. Maybe this weekend I can get further.

Stick around for the scroll when you continue. Its a new version, "the story so far" that can change within the episode.

That AOTC ones are hilarious. I continued ROTS after I beat Grievious, and the scroll starts "Hello There"

That's wonderful. I missed this as I tended to sit down and do episodes in one go, going to have to take a look at those.

I sadly didn't pay much attention TPM's. AOTC were great with the starting DRAMA. Then Assassinception when talking about Zam's death. Padme going with dreamboat Anakin while Obi-wan did the big boy investigation. And then it goes into Anakin's terrible visions of sand...

I died when Anakin was having his ROTS visions of Padme setting up the baby room.

I did, but I was finishing up Forbidden West before starting. Jumped in today, and it has everything I like about the LEGO take on these characters.

I finished Horizon as well, excellent game. Just need to do the side stuff and platinum that now.

Same. I did each episode in one sitting and didn't even realize that there were different opening crawls until I had a two second power outage in the middle of playing the ESB section that caused me to restart the level.

Just finished the game and it was amazing.

However, Episode IX was such a filler, boring slog to get through, just like the film itself. Both TLJ/TROS playthrough contains huge filler segments set on Ahch-To where nothing happens and you just have to go from point A to B and return, then rinse and repeat.

Hermit Luke is legitimately annoying in the game :funny:

Makes you think about the wasted opportunities in the ST.

The best part of the Rise of Skywalker section of the game is the opening level with the Falcon purely because of how many studs you can farm once you get the multipliers.

Haven't finished the game. Probably still going to buy this.
