Leonardo DiCaprio gets revenge in The Revenant

Leo gets his globe. Even if he don't get the Oscar this at least shows he got recognized.

It's so great Inarritu forgot to thank the crew who probably suffered more than him for his artistic vision.

He was too caught up in telling everyone about his suffering and how he "survived" this film to do so. So it's okay. :o

Amy realising she might need to fight a bear to win an Oscar if she doesn't for Nocturnal Animals or Story of Your Life. And who is good at bear choreography? :o

If Leo doesn't get his Oscar, I fully expect him to throw raw bison livers at the stage.

Is he hover handing her? lol. He think he's at comic con or something?

You see the nature stuff was my favorite part. I think Innaritu did a great job of making the wilderness really feel alive. Like nature was its own wild untamed animal. Just all the sounds of creaking and crackling branches was so visceral.

But yes, it is a simple survival/revenge story, but I think Innaritu tries way too hard to over-complicate and dress it up with all this nonsense that doesn't work. They basically went a Training Day route with one of the subplots, where it was just way too silly in this environment.

Without the Training Day route, the Native Americans at the end would've killed Glass.

Didnt seem very ambiguous to me, at least not in the physical sense.

He [BLACKOUT]dies in an emotional sense. His son is dead and he fulfilled his only purpose to live. But the Native Americans didn't kill him. That's the whole point of showing Poqawa at the end.[/BLACKOUT]

Seemed to be pretty open ended that he "dies" at the end too.

Also where were the French hiding Powaqa? The Pawnee searched their camp and she wasn't there. Yet they had her kidnapped the whole time.

[BLACKOUT]I don't think he was that hurt in the fight. Slashed on the cheek, stabbed in the hand and leg. That's nothing compared to what else he went through.[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT] I didn't get that at all. The only ambiguity in the ending was in terms of what his emotional state was and whether or not he had moved on from his grief. [/BLACKOUT]

Yes, but before he had revenge as a powerful motivator.

If Leo doesn't get an Oscar for this performance he never will.

Saw this today, and I have to say I didn't really care for it. The only aspects I didn't find disappointing were the cinematography and Tom Hardy.

Also saw it today, here are my ramblings...

I'm glad I waited and saw it in the theater because I ****in loved this movie. Best way to describe this movie is a Terrence Malick film with actual plot. I just loved the way it was shot, Inarritu and Emmanuel Lubezki knows how to use the environment to their advantage and add towards the story. Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy were just great, both at the top of their game. Overall, it's one of those movies I get every now and then that I felt it was made just for me.

10/10
