Les Miserables: One Thread More!

How did I totally miss Hugh on the Tonight Show??
I meant to put a reminder here but I forgot. I'm sure the episode is on the Leno website. He stayed for the whole show, even after Jessica Chastain was interviewed after him.

Back to non-awards talk for a second. I was thinking about this earlier: Since Valjean admitted that he was Prisoner 24601 in order to save the man from going to jail in his place, does that mean his factory was shut down? In which case, even if Fantine hadn't been fired by the foreman, she would have been out on the streets anyway. I haven't read the book, so I don't know what becomes of the factory or its workers.

Yup, in the book, the factory shuts down and all of the workers lose their jobs, exactly as Valjean feared.

The story was freaking fantastic, the acting/directing was great, production design and editing brilliant - also that second last interior location was one of the interior locations used for Hogwarts in Harry Potter.

The accompanying instrumentals at time weren't the greatest, the inspector foreshadowing with his "unique" way of standing around for monologues was a bit much, and there was virtually no focal control - it was insane. If one eye was in focus, the other was blurred. Sometimes in a CU, nothing was in focus! They spent all this time on production design, and they couldn't spend more money on lighting? I feel like they were shooting at f 1.8 the entire time.

Anne at the Les Mis premiere in Paris. Pretty in pink!

Here's a novel way to keep from getting worked up about your main Oscar rival: forget his name entirely. For Time magazine's Great Performances video feature on this year's Oscar nominees, Les Miserables co-stars and Oscar nominees Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman spend some time lauding their competition. Hathaway even praises the computer-generated tiger in Life of Pi. But watch what happens around the 2:09 when Jackman slyly raises the topic of Lincoln.

If you need any further proof that Wolverine a) can act and b) possesses a wit that's as well-developed as his pecs, keep a close eye on his poker face as he claims not to remember the name of Daniel Day-Lewis, who, according to conventional wisdom, will emerge the victor when the Best Actor Oscar is handed out on Feb. 24.

"Lincoln is the movie, but the lead guy who I always forget...," Jackman says to Hathaway without any hint that he's having a bit of fun. In fact, it's Hathaway who can't keep a straight face as she jogs Jackman's memory and he refers to Day-Lewis as simply "Lewis" — in case, I guess, any Academy voters will be deciding how to cast their Best Actor vote after watching this video. Jackman does admit that the actor whose name he can't seem to remember is "awesome" in Lincoln though, and he also waxes enthusiastic about Joaquin Phoenix's performance in The Master.

Well I saw the movie last week, and as soon as they belted out the first song, I was hooked

Looks a lot better than the vegan leather wrap/fetish wear she wore at the NYC premiere. That was all sorts of wrong.

She did look very pretty in person (I was at the NY premiere...well, across the street watching the arrivals, but still, I saw everybody!).

Just got back from seeing the movie again. I did a triple feature today: Life of Pi, Django Unchained, and Les Mis. At this point, I've seen all of the Best Picture nominees except for Amour, but since I've seen Les Mis four times, I think that fulfills my French requirement for the Oscars this year. :oldrazz:

Les Mis was the most-crowded of the three movies I saw today...and by crowded, I mean there were maybe 20 people in the theater. I had Life of Pi to myself until a few people showed up about 10 minutes into the movie, and one of them screamed her head off when the tiger pounced in 3D. :funny: That is an insanely amazing movie, btw. Django was really good too, and I'm usually not a big Tarantino fan.

Movie is still awaiting, and I can't wait to get a full soundtrack. Even with the small crowd, there was still plenty of audible sobbing by the end. They even applauded!

I once saw Walle this way .... it was scary to be all alone in the cinema, and Walle isn't exactly a horror movie ... but then a woman with a child turned up ...

Her makeup and hair looked good, but that outfit... eesh. Her boots looked good, but would've been more at home in TDKR.

These two really should make more movies together, and maybe as lovers next time.
I can picture this photo right before a love scene, all she has to do is pick up her head, stare at each other, and then they can go in for the big smooch etc. LOL.

Lovely pic and video of Anne and Hugh up there. They go together so well.

Apparently Anne wants to do another musical and said:

"I'm a big fan of them, so that would make me very happy both as an actress and as an audience member."

She doesn't have any plans to record an album of her own. It's her choice but I'd like her to reconsider. She'd do great. :)

I know its part of their commitments, but attending all these premieres must get exhausting, especially ones long after the US release.

It looks like Anne and Eddie Redmayne are having a smokey eye contest.

Especially if they are filming another movie at the same time, as Hugh is. Twitter reported that his movie "Prisoners" had a night shoot on Friday and I wonder if he was part of that and when/if he would make it to Berlin. Plus his wife was with him (I'm sure to attend the BAFTAs on Sunday) and some were wondering if she was going to be able to make it out of NYC (if she was indeed still there) because of the snowstorm. Hugh was filming in Atlanta so if he was indeed filming Friday night it may not have affected him. But who really knows where any of them were.

But yeah, he's been traveling all over the place from Atlanta. Last week when he did his show in Philadelphia, reports were he took a corporate jet to the SAG Awards. And after all of this, he has to be back on the set probably the next day.

At least Anne, Eddie and Amanda aren't filming anything.

I'm exhausted just reading that.... :wow:

U.S. people - the BAFTA Awards are on BBC America tonight at 8. The show is going on now and Les Mis has won a couple things according to tweets.

Also, Hugh is on David Letterman on Feb. 20 and don't forget Inside the Actors Studio Feb. 13.

Oh poor Eddie, he was supposed to present with Sally Field but had food poisoning and Sally said he was "puking backstage" so she presented by herself.

Les Mis got the most awards with 4 but except for Anne winning best supporting, they were all tech awards and those weren't shown or mentioned on the BBC America broadcast.

Anne wins the best supporting BAFTA!

Some great quotes:
"I've been lucky to receive a few pieces of hardware this year. I think I'm going to get a tool shed and keep them in there so when I open it, it lights up, but for now they're all in my kitchen."
"I almost walked past George Clooney without hugging him - that's just stupid!"
:lmao:

I had a feeling we were going to be seeing more of this kid...

ICM Signs Boy Who Plays Gavroche in 'Les Miserables' (Exclusive)

Daniel Huttlestone played opposite Hugh Jackman and Eddie Redmayne in the Tom Hooper-directed movie.

ICM has signed Daniel Huttlestone for representation.

The 13-year-old Huttlestone stole scenes in Universal’s all-star adaptation of Les Miserables playing Gavroche, the boy who tragically collects boots from dead soldiers.

Huttlestone began acting at the age of nine, performing on the West End in Oliver and later playing Gavroche in the stage production of Les Miserables. Later this month, he will complete a UK tour of Oliver, starring as “Dodger.”

Huttlestone will continued to be repped by UK agent Carmel

Um, "tragically collects dead boots from soldiers"??
