Now, I hasten to get too much into the Keaton of it all until it is 100% official, but in the interest of the Hype being the Hype...

I imagine a lot of folks are thinking Elfman, but... I think it’s gotta be Benjamin Wallfisch. He’s already got a relationship with Muschietti, and he’s worked on a DC production before (granted, duh, so has Elfman, but still), and I honestly think that — IF this movie really does entail the Keaton/Burton universe — Wallfisch could achieve a very Elfman-esque sound. There are some IT tracks that to me sound like they could be from something like Nightmare Before Christmas or Edward Scissorhands or even Batman Returns, so I think he could really carry on that vibe while also bringing new stuff to the table Flash-wise.

Like a lot of people I'd love it if Elfman did it. But failing that, I think Marco Beltrami could do a good job. Of course, weaving in Elfman's Batman here and there.

I'm 95% positive Benjamin Wallfisch will be asked to score this movie, considering his past history scoring Muschietti's last two movies (and working on Shazam!).

Then again, Muschietti could actually ask Elfman back. Stranger things have happened.

I just find Elfman a bit boring now. I don’t know, maybe it was Justice League that did it for me, but I think it’s time to move forward.

His sound has evolved over the decades.

Plus the one person that really helped establish his beloved sound early on -- conductor/orchestrator Shirley Walker -- died in 2006. She really gave his scores a certain oomph that other orchestrators didn't quite achieve.

Walker didn't do much orchestrating at all for Elfman. Bartek did the bulk of those scores and Walker came in near the end to help out. By which time the tone etc was already determined. She orchestrated one cue for Darkman, for example.

Walker was a tremendous talent and a wonderful composer in her own right, but the fact that you can't tell if a cue was orchestrated by Bartek or Walker just goes to show that her role was very much a technical one. Some of Elfman's demos are out there, and everything is in there.

As for Elfman scoring this - he's already written themes for the two main characters, so I imagine it has to have at least been discussed. But Doctor Strange 2 is out just a few months earlier, and I think it's more likely he lands that. He also has a cello commission due in 2022, so I can't imagine him scoring both (if that were to even be an option).

Gotta be Wallfisch. Considering he’s worked w/ Muschietti and DC (It and Shazam), recently makes sense.

Wallfisch also wrote additional music for BvS, so with Affleck back in the mix, I expect some throwbacks to Zimmer.
