Endgame Lets Talk Avengers 4 and what we know #Spoilers?

If i am being 100% honest here... Thor has some hilarious and badass moments in AEG. Having said that there are 2 things that somewhat damper the good stuff.

1. Is how low they push the character. It's definitely funny and it works to a certain extent because we understand his state, his sadness and we feel empaty for him... this is accomplished not only by what we know of Thor's journey but also by Chris Hemsworth acting and range of emotions. The thing is that they sometimes dig to deep into Thor's state and it goes from "i understand your pain" and "that's so funny" to "come on now, you're better than this...".

2. The badassery is there but in a much lesser extent than in IW. His viking appearance is great, and dual wielding Stormbreaker and Mjolnir is a dream but Thor's physical state is not up to par to everything else which is a shame, feats wise...

I still got my Thor fix though and i'm sure the content provided in AEG will serve as a ton of inspiration for Thor epic compilation videos. There are some gold nuggets that will never get old.
Completely agree. I was more than a little disappointed that dude Thor stuck around for longer than an hour. It was a great visual gag and way to show how low he had fallen, but by the time they fight Thanos agakn I wanted peak Thor back in the fight. This could well be the last time we see him and he doesn't get a big heroic send off like the other 2

We'll see him again. He'll be back in god mode .

What is even worse is that this will be the last time we see Thor with Iron Man and Cap so to think that while the latter two were present in their prime (or close to it in terms of appearance and skills set) Thor was the one that was presented to him at worst form.

Even the Thor from the first film, TDW, or AOU would have been better than this. Thor's portrayal in this film will always overshadow most of the good things for me in this film.

Just watched it. Loved it so much.

I'm not sure if this has already been discussed but regarding Natasha...

Bruce makes a random comment at the end when he's with Steve, Bucky and Sam about how he tried really hard to bring her back when he used the gauntlet? I thought it seemed a bit out of place but now I've had a moment to dwell...

I assume he did bring her back... but she was resurrected on Voromir in 2014. She has the ship which was conveniently left there when Hawkeye jumped back to the present.

Am I wrong here?

The 5 year time jump doesn’t bother me as the next few movies after SM:FFH are going to be prequels (Eternals, Black widow) and by the time another movie hits it will be 2021or so already and Marvel tends to make their movies more or less with few exceptions in real time anyway, so those movie would automatically be “5 years from Endgame”. Think about it, even without this ending, the next set of movies in 2021-2022 would most likely be based on that time period. In other words we are going to catch up real quick, it doesn’t have to always be set Five years ahead in every movie from now on, it’s just five years from NOW.

I doubt this is the last time we'll see thor with cap and iron man. Also this is one film with chubby thor. How many have we seen him as a total god? Going forward he'll probably be so again.

The people that died only died in one timeline. They can easily come back.

Haha I said this exactly about 10 pages ago.
Great minds :cwink:

Clearly some people are concerned that they can't relate to a film set 3 years ahead of the current real life year. Guessing they'd be better off watching documentaries than Comic book movies from now one. :loco:

Uh, you're right. But I'm **** at math so I didn't realize it until now.

That does make things a little better.

Not for me. Her soul was swaped for the soul stone.

Now a version of nat from a different timeline, or the past could be brought back (gamora). But that one is gone.

- Cap wielding Mjolnir is great for a few seconds, while he actually delivers some solid hits and combos on Thanos but this doesn't last long at all and Thanos quickly gains the upper hand.

Also Cap holds Stormbreaker for a moment and Thor has that hilarious moment where he says "Here you take the small one(Mjolnir), give me that..." :D
My cinema went absolutely crazy when Mjolnir arrived in Cap’s hands, and then even crazier when he did that upward swing to Thanos’ chin with it.

Haha, yeah loved that line.

Yeah, I think that death needs to stick.

captain america was phenomenal in the third act....when u think about superheroes that make the better impression
I put him right infront off Wonder woman in term off epicness...

fat thor was embarrasing butim so thrilled by the third act i really does not care at all

Agreed. The joke outstayed its welcome. It's great that Hemsworth is clearly enjoying himself, but its becoming a bit of a routine for Thor to try on different hats for different films. He was so great in Infinity War, a damn near perfect blend of humour and pathos. Not so much here.

He's been great in all his films. It's not like he will stay fat thor.

You couldn't have a thor rocky montage getting back in shape during the film.

Thinking about it more and more. I dont like how they handled present day Thanos. Felt anti climatic.

No but I think him getting Mjolnir back could have resulted in a teansformatran back into god mode, like how he changes from street Thor in Ragnarok. He's worthy still and his appearance should reflect that

The thing is that Thor is here to stay. Iron Man and Cap are done but not Thor.
His increase popularity is undeniable and i think Marvel wants to cash in on that. Thor is a great character and his comic book mythos is huge, giving him and Marvel so much great material to work with...

This downgrading of Thor serves to give him a bigger gap in order for a triumphant comeback to occur. Thor could have retired as a King and it would also suit him. But they choose to pair him with the Guardians because there's more to be mined. Thor and the Guardians work so well too.

Also there is that strong possibility that we might get a Thor 4 with Taika down the line. Another reason to leave the door wide open for more Thor stories. It's a win-win scenario for everyone, the studios, us the fans, the MCU, the cast...

Do realise you are posting in the spoiler thread though?

My sympathies for being spoiled.
Yea still want to tread carefully. Not sure what had been discussed yet. Didn't ruin the film as I some what expected it.

This happened with me for Infinity War, so last night, I logged out of my Youtube account in order to avoid the whole recommendations debacle.

I def advise that for everyone who hasn't seen the movie yet!
I was SO close. Literally hours away from seeing the film. :(

Thanos really had the last film. Was always going to be anticlimactic.

Yea I suppose it just seams like they couldnt figure out what to do with him so just decided to have Thor kill him so they could move on to time travel.
