Leverage on TNT

I have to say i'm surprised by
the splitting up in the recent episodes.... less of the fun team dynamic....

LEVERAGE is back from its break.
Its on tuesday nights.

The gang takes on a Wal-Mart type store. Fairly Good.
We get a little more insight into Elliot's past.

Oh well, all good things end. The show was a fun distraction when it was around, but I guess it's run its creative course.

'Leverage' Could End After Season 5, Creator Dean Devlin Announces

They might be done as a team, but I'd like to see a couple of them get a spin-off somehow.

Like Parker and Hardison attempting to start a family doing what they do. Or us finding out that Parker's FBI cover is so unassailable that she's been actually getting paychecks from them. She can then take this to the next level and continue helping people by actually "working" for the FBI with/without Hardison after the team breaks up.

As much as I love this show, its gone from my "cant wait to see it" list to my "I'll probably see it within 48 hrs of its airing" list. I think its getting harder and harder for them to write new original stories for them.

I know theres been a big facebook campaign to push TNT for a 6th season, but if Devlin is saying it could be done, that sounds almost like, HE doesnt really want it to go on.

Shows do have a really hard time staying fresh after 5-6 seasons, so he might be aware of this & wants to go out sorta close to the top.

As for a spin off, while Parker & Hardison are far & away the best characters on the show... not sure a spin off would garner enough following to get a full season, let alone multiple seasons.

If it is the end, 5 Seasons and 77 episodes is a good run.

From a few seasons ago it seems like they have been ready for this for a while, like when they rigged the election overseas. It seemed like they set it up as an ending just in case.
But This season seems like they are readying the end from the beginning, with little changes here and there. Each character seems to be setting up permanent shop with a restaurant or a theater. I think they are setting up that they decide to live normal lives instead of as these off the grid vigilantes.
I think the Anti Terrorist episode with Hardisson, Parker, and Elliot, showed what the spin off could be. A more dramatic take with hirer stakes, a younger seeming show, and less of the scamming. Still, I want to see each character get a happy ending and the show not to set one character aside like Joey on Friends while everyone else moves on because they want that guy/girl to have a spin off that might only last one season.

Rogers has never been shy about saying that (with perhaps the exception of season 2 where Nate was shot and it ended with him bleeding on the deck of the ship while the team got away and he was surrounded by Sterling and the Feds) they try to treat the end of every season as if it were the end of the series.

While I would hate it if it ended, I would understand if it did - 5 seasons is a good run (but at the same time, there's a small part of me that is hoping that we'll get a season 6 announcement). I've been enjoying this season (even though I know that others haven't), and it's been nice to see how they're growing as characters and how that growth has affected the cons.

Although I would like to see the team go out doing one huge score; like taking down a fictional proxy for Goldman Sachs or something. As much as I enjoy this show, I must admit that they haven't really lived up to their reputation; with some notable exceptions, they still tend to go after fairly mid-level and easy targets as not to offend any segment of their core audience.

The closest they've come to tackling a real target that screws with people in real life is the last Wal Mart episode, and even that one they only took down a single store.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...
TNT’s ‘Leverage’ Cancelled After 5 Seasons
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

After dragging its decision for months, TNT has pulled the plug of drama Leverage four days before the series’ fifth season finale. The series executive producer. The news comes two weeks after Devlin announced in an open letter to fans that he and co-creator John Rogers decided to end the current Season 5 finale they way they envisioned the series would end — in case there was no Season 6. Leverage, which is independently produced by Devlin’s Electric Entertainment, has been on the bubble the past couple of years but has managed to secure last-minute renewals. The Season 5 finale is set for Christmas, December 25. Here are TNT’s statement and Devlin’s letter on Leverage‘s cancellation:
TNT’s Leverage has thrilled audiences with its delightfully intricate plots, its “stand up for the little guy” attitude and its terrific performances from stars Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf and Aldis Hodge. But after five wonderful years, it’s time to say goodbye. Leverage will come to a close on Christmas, Tuesday, Dec. 25, at 9 p.m., with a series finale that stands as one of the show’s best episodes.

We are honored to have worked with executive producer Dean Devlin, Electric Entertainment, creators John Rogers and Chris Downey, and all the cast and production crew on Leverage. We look forward to exploring new opportunities to work with them again in the future. We also want to thank the passionately devoted fans of Leverage, who have been the driving force behind its success.
The Long Goodbye is our final goodbye.

It has been decided today that this Tuesday’s episode of Leverage “The Long Goodbye Job” will be the series finale as TNT has decided not to renew the show for a sixth season.

I want to take the opportunity to thank TNT for five amazing seasons and 77 episodes of a show that has been so good to me. I’m incredibly proud of the show and what we’ve accomplished. Throughout this journey TNT have been the most amazing partners. Their support and collaboration I will cherish forever.

I also want to thank everyone involved in making the show. Tim, Gina, Beth, Christian and Aldis are the finest ensemble of actors I’ve ever worked with. They’ve become our partners, our friends and our family.

The amazing crew who pulled off miracles every day on our show. Thank you for everything you’ve contributed. Your blood and sweat is in every frame of our series and I’m eternally in your debt.

And, of course, on behalf of everyone involved in the show, thank you to all the fans who’ve supported us and the show. You have amazed us all. We love you and thank you all.

I’m so happy we were able to film the series finale we had always envisioned and I’m happy we’re able to present it on Christmas as our gift to you. It’s a bittersweet goodbye.

Gratefully yours,

Dean Devlin

Executive Producer/Director LEVERAGE

Had a really good run and I was pretty entertained throughout.

I hope the finale is satisfying.

It kind of felt like a "last season" kind of theme anyways this year, with most of the characters seeming to find a normal life that they haven't had before. Elliott is practically a full-time chef now, Sophie has her theatre group, Nate might as well retire in Portland and Hardison and Parker are basically a young married couple who travel around the world (creating chaos and disruption).

Regarding the finale...well at least its the episode they envisioned as the series finale. You know there's closure etc.

I will be watching come Christmas day....in addition to the annual Doctor Who Christmas ep. :)

They still have that unresolved plot point with Nate and Hardison coming up with I think an exit plan for the entire group on their own.

Well, this is disappointing. Gonna miss the characters.

Today, Christmas Day.... we will say good-bye to the bad guys who made the best good guys with The Long Goodbye

They didnt even call it a series finale so many wont even realize this was canceled.

All the commercials I saw said it was the series finale. Only the one that was the intro to the show said season for me.

Fantastic episode. Loved all the callbacks to the series premier. And the first half hour
almost had me convinced. Especially Nate's breakdown. That almost sold me. But it was just too much bad happening too fast.

Great way for the show to go out.

Great episode and happy the way it ended....it came full circle.

Good finale. Sad to see the show go but at least it was a satisfying end.

Cant believe we never find out Sophie's real name.

Gina Bellman tweeted the day of its cancellation, that Sophies real name IS Lara.... so it was probably Sophie being Sophie when she told Nate thats not her real name.

As for the finale... solid.
I loved that Nate handed over the reigns to Parker, she did make the most sense.
It was great to see Stirling help out Nate. Loved his line about "justice is always easy" at the end after he knew Nate had just got away but the other agent didnt.

Only disappointment I have in it is... we wont get to see a Parker run op... unless they do a TV movie down the line.

We got to sorta see her run an op when her leg was injured.

I just wish we could get a spinoff with those three. I'd love to see more of Elliot's family.
