Fantasy Live action Hercules in the works at Disney

I appreciate that they’re looking to do something different rather than just another pointless live action remake but I think Meg would be a more interesting POV than Hades.
I honestly think there is plenty to mine from the original premise with all the major characters. I'm a fan of the original, but it could do with a bit more depth. A lot like Cinderella.

The live action remakes suck, so I won't miss this if it's cancelled. I wasn't gonna see it anyway. I have the cartoon.

To the Russos I say:

They're gonna be way too preoccupied with Avengers for the next two and a half years anyway and Disney isn't going to wait for them now that Lilo & Stitch has rejuvenated their interest in live action remakes.

I also think the right move is to keep it faithful to the original movie and not have it be from Hades's POV. All the songs should stay (no skippable tracks on that soundtrack) but two things they can do off the bat are give Hades a song and they can beef up Hercules's characterization a bit when he's an adult since Phil, Meg and Hades completely stole the show from him in the animated movie.

Not that I've had much stake in these live action remakes but Hercules is one of the ones that I think could really work as a new adaptation. The original movie has some great songs and characters but the story could be expanded on and improved (i.e. it doesn't have to follow Superman: The Movie so closely :o)

I heard the disney live action Hercules movie will focus more on hades, is this true and is the movie still in development.

This project has gone through some creative struggles both from the studio side and the creatives side. While a retooled Hercules story was the route the creatives wanted to go, the studio has decided the direction they will go is a faithful adaptation of the animated film, which you can thank the success of Lilo & Stitch for.

Honestly, with the right talent in place this could be one of the safer "slam dunks" Disney has as far as live-action remakes go. Heck, there's a way to adapt the original animated movie while still putting some more meat on the bones. No need to overcomplicate it by making it a Hades POV narrative.

I could see Disney really ramping things up if/when Nolan’s Odyssey is successful.
