Logan Logan spoiler thread discussion

Yeah I think that's true. He dies defending X23 from X-24

I like that. I could be wrong, but [BLACKOUT]this might be the first time the protagonist in a comic book movie dies.[/BLACKOUT]

I want to know what happened to the other x-men???? Do they explain it? do we get flashback??? do they even get mentioned??? :'(

Happened quite a bit whenever a cbm has been rated R.

I can't think of any right now.

Zack Snyder did one.
Sin City is another one.
V for Vendetta
[BLACKOUT]Snowpiercer[/BLACKOUT]
Matthew Vaughn did one, especially with that last protagonist having a somewhat similar role as Logan
Totally forgot about The Crow franchise :cwink:

For superhero movies though a lot less so, as opposed to regular comic book movies. And I do not think the Snyder one really counts.

okay, i hope deadpool 2 somehow deletes this movie :/

I don't think you even need that. Mangold says in the last question here that the film leaves it open to interpretation that the other X-Men films are a fictionalized backstory in the world of Logan (and one review I saw also mentioned that idea), so Fox could always say it's a stand-alone alternate universe story, which would both allow more room for future franchise films and fit with the Old Man Logan inspiration.

That really isn't much different.eather cable in deadpool sequels or X-force negates logan or logan isn't part of contunity of the other films.

For anyone who's seen it, does X-24 look like Old Man Logan? Or does he look slightly younger?

I agree. I mean, the next X film will be about the Phoenix Saga we all assume but again, since the next film is still set in this new timeline, we know the ending. LOGAN gives it to us. So, yeah, what's the point of more films if they're not full on 100% reboots?

And yes, as much as I hate ORIGINS WOLVERINE, the six X films and the WOLVERINE trilogy are a complete story.

While the destination is important, what about the journey?

Here are my questions for anyone who has seen it.

- Do they explain what happened to the X-Men explicitly or is it just implied that Professor X's condition caused him to kill everyone by accident? I saw a previous spoiler that said during a convo with Logan Pierce refers to an "incident" in New York - is that all we get or is it actually explained

- Is the X-24 clone of Logan played by Hugh Jackman or is it a younger actor?

- Are any of the younger mutants that X-23 escapes into Canada with given abilities that would make you think they were a specific mutant from the comics?

- How does Logan find out that X-23 is his "clone"?

- What is Caliban's role in the movie? Is it explained how he ends up with Logan and Xavier, and ultimately what happens to him (e.g. is he killed, how, by whom?)

How would a bullet kill X-24? If he has the healing abilities Logan has it wouldn't matter what material it was made from?

In Wolverine: Origins, he gets shot with a Adamantium bullet and he heals...

Are we sure X-24 dies?

It wiped his memory in Origins. I'm guessing the same happens to the clone...

I assume the idea and visual in mind is that it kills X24, they probably didn't write it with the idea to just erased his memory and unless Jackman came back then there wouldn't be much point going that direction either.

This revelation will hopefully end up making this the most touching of all the stories in this world.

Guy i know says the violence in this film made him "nauseous" :P

To be fair he is now amidst ridiculous rant of 'kids franchise' being turned into 'gore machine' so I think he is just oversensitive.

Tell him to play the 2009 movie tie-in Wolverine game, and then watch reviews of it.

Is it true that later in the movie Logan basically tells X23/laura that none of what she see in the comic pages featured in the movie actually happened? because thats what comicbookcast2 claims in his youtube video about the Wolverine costume.

Here's one good aspect I am liking from Logan according to one review: [BLACKOUT]Like Children of Men, its vision of the future has political teeth. In passing, we see massive lines of Latino deportees at an intimidating border wall. The mutant minority has mostly died out, and a Limbaugh-esque radio host says he’s sick of talking about their extinction. We learn of an American biotech firm that’s exploiting the uneven relationship between the U.S. and Mexico by setting up a lab conducting horrific experiments south of the border. Their victims are overwhelmingly black and brown — but so are nearly all of the non-Wolverine heroes of the movie. As is true of most great X-Men stories, the film is a story about the forgotten, the desperate, and the marginalized finding strength in one another. Logan is a superpowered protest against Trumpism — and a chillingly effective one, at that.[/BLACKOUT]

3 min of extra footage. thanks for the job

the shane undertone to this movie was a heavy topic in our meetings. enjoy the extra minutes because who's x-24? hes no one, hes the physical embodiment of a new body for wolverine - think xavier - mind - tranfer - redemption for his actions - and the open door for you know who. it is subtle much like it was for xavier, one was in a hospital bed, the other wakes to see his past burried, his future ahead should he choose to accept it.
