Wow. That was breathtaking. Laura calling him Daddy, turning the cross over into an X. I feel like I just lost a friend I've known for almost 20 years.

Now I need to know everything about the Westchester incident. I know we won't, but I'd love to get some more context on that.

The movie was such an experience for me I almost forgot about the Deadpool bit. Very funny. My theater was dying.

^ That was one of my (very few) disappointments with the movie. I'd have to had just a few quick flashes of the incident, with some of the old cast involved.

I agree that X-24 wasn't the best physical threat they could've came up with, but everything else was so great that it's whatever to me.

It was so somber when the screen went black. Then "When The Man Comes Around" started playing, the guy next to me said, "you're not getting this **** in a Disney movie." Other than that, it was really really somber. It's the end of an era.

I can remember the weeks leading up to the first x-men movie. I remember seeing the commercials during the animated show on fox kids Saturday mornings. I remember my dad taking me to see the movie, I was just 5. At the time, this was The Avengers for me. Sure I was confused as to why they weren't wearing the yellow and blue, but it was still the best thing since sliced bread. As I'm sure it was for a lot people.

That's why the X-Men will always be king to me.

The final shot of the film is profoundly powerful. I don't think there's even been a single frame of a CBM imbued with the degree of emotion as Logan's final shot. There's shots that are splash pages, and then there's the final shot of the cross being turned into an X. Beautiful.

The saddest bit for me was the tragedy of thinking Xavier was murdered by his only friend. Logan tries to tell him "That wasn't me. It wasn't me."

I hope Chuck understood that

If that last shot was a panel, it would be one of the most iconic panels in comic book lore.

This film got so much right, that especially. So tastefully done. Perfect in so many ways. The last of the original main cast rests beneath the iconic X.

Also, did anyone have a weird audience during this movie? Some people were laughing during the emotional bits.

Great. I'm crying again.

I kept thinking the second act dragged...but it didn't. It's deliberate and it's required for that payoff in the end. There's so many little details here and there that enhance the emotional impact of an already tremendously emotional film.

This movie flew by for me. Had no complaints with pacing, and that's a problem I've had with some of the previous x-men movies, but not this one.

Logan and Charles' conversation with the Munson's was great and terribly heartbreaking. Hugh's always been able to convey Wolverine's socially awkward gruffness well but that dinner scene, reminiscing about the mansion...with Laura smiling for the first and only time in the film...magical.

I think he did. He smiled at the real Logan and mentioned the Sun Seeker. *tear*

I couldn't believe they slaughtered that whole family. Even the kid. It was bleak as s**t.

This movie proves once again that Fox has the highest boom or bust potential when it comes to comic book properties.

One year they release fantfourstic, then deadpool which caught everyone by surprise, then the underwhelming apocalypse followed by this freaking masterpiece.

It's amazing how good some of these movies can be. Hopefully this starts the trend of well thought out R-Rated marvel films from fox.

The seizure scenes with Professor X were genuinely unnerving. Couple people in the theater took noticeable gasps after the seizures ended.

I imagined the film would be darker and more violent, but it really wasn't that bad. It wasn't grotesque and apocalyptic at all. The casino fight is also just a top notch fight - Hugh actually had people pull on him with ropes as he walked through to make sure it looked like Logan was really struggling.

Thoughts on the Deadpool scene? I was hoping for him to be in here somewhere. SOOOOOO glad it was at the beginning and not the end! That scene, post credits, would have killed the emotion of the final scene of the movie.

That being said, I loved it! "Nathan Summers coming soon," on the phone both was beautiful!
