Logan Logan spoiler thread discussion

So did Logan say "bub"? I might have missed it? Though Im pretty sure he didn't :(

It is quite a lot to take in. But I'm pretty sure it wasn't random. When the big company decided to off the kids, the nurses joined together in saving the kids and I wanna say each took on a responsibility for an individual child to bring them to Dakota and figure things out from there.
I meant random as in 'the place itself isn't special, but this is where we'll meet'. But that place could've been anywhere and somewhere much easier to reach so there is probably more to it, yeah.

I got the impression the Camp was Eden?

She wanted to go to North Dakota which is where Logan took her?
I wasn't 100% sure while watching the movie. It's the closest we got to Eden either way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like some of your frustration is what Logan does to the franchise as a whole?

Perhaps viewing Logan as standalone, like an alternate ending after the DOFP coda makes the movie better.

Yes and no. Can't hide the fact that I'm an OT fanboy and have been pretty disappointed with the decisions made post-DOFP, but I went in to Logan knowing (roughly) what it was going to be.

I just can't reconcile Charles' role in this. Even seperated from everything else, I don't think I needed to see this character in these circumstances. It's a very well made film, and Xavier is beautifully, tragically realised. Gut punches everywhere. The crushing sadness of it is just too much. For Logan's story? Fine. Not sure about Xavier though.

The Weschester incident in particular is an interesting concept, but again, "killing the ones you love" is a Wolverine story thread and may have been better suited staying with him.

I have other issues with the film as well. I do think it starts out much stronger than it finishes. Third act could have used some tweaks, more time with just Logan and Laura toward the end would have been nice.

Definitely gonna find the time for a rewatch. I want to see it again and I don't. It's going to hurt, lol.

I thought they had the Logan/Laura screen time bang on. It wasn't until she was in serious danger he realized he cared for her.

I loved the scene when he told her to get behind him, knowing full well his healing abilities weren't working anymore, not to mention Laura would have quite easily healed the bullet wounds. I guess that's what any father would do for their child.

Couldn't agree more. The first half was near perfect before faltering slightly once X-24 was introduced. They should have cut him and Xander Rice from the movie and spent that time instead developing the relationship between Logan and Laura. It would have made the part where she calls him daddy much more impactful.

Kind of wish Mister Sinister was the "behind the scenes" villain here instead of that generic old guy in a suit who unleashes X24. But on the balance of things I think Mister Sinister is best saved for a more actiony, ensemble team movie.

Do you not think that fact she thought of him as her father from the very start and the fact Logan didn't really seem to care about more was more impactful than developing a relationship?

Obviously Laura's carer told her that Logan was her father before they had even met. She stares at him when she's driving away from him at the Funeral as that was the first time she sees her Dad?

Logan saying 'So this is what it feels like' just before he dies wouldn't have worked if he had already 'felt' that relationship with Laura.

Did anyone get a good look at those files Logan was looking at? I noticed that when he got to Laura's file it listed that "James Howlett" was the DNA used. I didn't realize that you probably could've seen the source DNA for the 1 or 2 other files he thumbed through until it was too late.

Logan hitting the car actually got quite a few laughs when I was watching the movie and I honestly didn't really understand that. I thought it was really sad.

I laughed at it. Definite black humor after a really intense moment. The movie had a lot of that.

I'm pretty sure Zander Rice only worked for Transigen, whoever is in charge of Alkali wasn't mentioned but we can assume that it's probably Sinister.

Just got back from theaters. I enjoyed the Movie greatly. There's only one thing that I would say annoyed me, and it's the whole adamantium bullet scenario. I really didn't like how the bullet blew up X-24's head like a balloon. I actually dislike that it did anything at all. Wish Logan would have decapitated him earlier with the car door, or X-24's defeat coming at the hands of all the children.

You know, Xavier was pretty sure about Eden..... Since he was still able to contact X-23, I think it's feasible he influenced all the remaining kids to go to those coordinates?

I imagine (if this was the case), his comment to Logan ("it's real to her" or something like that) was just to convince him since he didn't believe it anyway.

ok, sorry if this was brought up earlier in this thread, I am short on time to go back, but is this movie ok for an 11 year old to see? One who has seen every other comic book movie out there sans Deadpool? Language and violence doesn't concern me too much unless there is like Hacksaw Ridge level of graphic violence. Thank you in advance, it would save me having to go screen it myself first and having to go twice.

edit. also, what would be the two precursor films to this one, to rewatch to catch up on things, it's been a while and I admit we're not the biggest x-men fans so I would need to catch up a bit

Lots of graphic violence along with the F word used a bunch. More than Hacksaw Ridge but not '87 RoboCop. I have a 10 year old and I don't know if I'll let him see it yet.

Anyone know what Xavier said to Wolverine on the tailgate just before dying? I couldn't make it out but I know he smiled before passing.

As for the ending, it didn't seem abrupt to me. I don't think we needed to see what was beyond the border. The scientist mentioned to the Redneck Reaver they needed to get to the kids before they hit the border. It's an obvious safe place. Present Logan faced Past Logan and allowed Future Logan to move on. The movie ended @ the Present. I was happy with it. :P

I loved Xavier's seizures. I think that was an amazing touch. That, X-23 and the R-rating were the greatest assets to this film imo.

My son is 11, watched pretty much all CBM movies.
He will not watch Deadpool or Logan (with my permission). He's a pretty mature kid which makes me doubt myself a bit, but no.
No idea when I'll let him.

If he's anything like his father he'll have watched it long before I let him anyway :D

This film might resonate with today's climate with refugees and immigrants under Trump's America. I mean the whole crossing the border to Canada for a safe place, especially with a bunch of kids being chased by armed agents is almost too on the nose.

It's kind of funny when you realize that we've gotten two films from James where Wolverine's healing factor and abilities weren't at their best for most of the film, with the character struggling to find his purpose in life for both films.lol

Wolverine struggling to find purpose in his life is like the basis of most of his stories. That's partially I think what makes the character so compelling.

Did anyone think of Gordon's eulogy in TDKR when seeing Laura quote Shane? Both work so well in their respective films.

Except unlike TDKR, they actually had the balls to kill off the main protagonist :cwink:

I see what you did there.

I didn't catch this? When did she do that?
Her last lines during Logan's eulogy is a direct quote from Shane, which she was watching with Charles earlier.

Joey, there's no living with, with a killing. There's no going back from it. Right or wrong, it's a brand, a brand that sticks. There's no going back. Now you run on home to your mother and tell her, tell her everything's alright, and there aren't any more guns in the valley.
