Supergirl Lois casting

I have no idea who they may cast but I'm excited, been wanting Lois to come onto Supergirl for ages.

Based purely off Politcal Animals, Carla Gugino would be a fantastic choice for Lois (and she has the Berlanti connection already!)

My vote still goes to Tatiana Malany. She's a brilliant actress, looks the part, not too big a name to be out of their league, and is a veteran of the ol' Vancouver acting pool, lol.

Of the recent suggestions though, I'd be all for Autumn Reeser or Caroline Dhavernas as well.

Never heard of her but she certainly looks the part. Also I could totally see her as Jenna Dewan's sister.

I've only seen her in Orphan Black but Tatiana Maslany is a great actress and I have no doubt that she will be a great Lois if she's cast.

Whoever it is, I assume they would want her to come off as older than Lucy in some way.

That was honestly what I was thinking of when she first popped into my head as an option. Back when we first heard (false) rumors of a possible Lois appearance, I was wracking my brain of who I might buy as Jenna's sister (because Jenna has a rather distinctive look), and I thought of Tatiana. THEN I thought of all the ways Tatiana could actually be a perfect Lois, lol. Also, I think I mentioned this when I first brought her up - despite being younger than Jenna in real life, Tatiana definitely comes across as older to me. It's in their voices and the way they carry themselves, imo. I'd have absolutely no trouble buying her as the older sister.

Well, even if my judgement's not enough, for the record, she does have an Emmy, is currently nominated for another one, and actually beat Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad one year for the Television Critics Award for Individual Achievement in Drama. Basically, in Orphan Black, she put in one of the best performances ever on television, and the best part about it is she played so many wildly different characters to perfection on that one show, we know there's pretty much no character type she wouldn't nail, lol.

I suppose that after the build-up to It Chapter 2, I shouldn't be surprised to see the Internet completely disregard age-appropriateness when it comes to fancasting, but the number of actresses who are younger than Benoist that I've seen suggested today...

If it’s just a one-time special appearance, then perhaps a bigger-name actress might be interested. But if there are (secret ) plans to have Lois recur (with or without Supes), then you’d need an actress who could make a longer commitment. And that’s probably not Maslany.

Well, depends on what kind of "recurring" we're talking about. If we're talking about a one-time guest spot with the option to come back for an appearance every now and then, I could see her doing it. But if it's for a multi-episode arc or something, then yeah, I don't think so.

I think Lyndsy Fonseca would make a good Lois and would likely be up for more than a one off appearence.

Haven't seen Lyndsy in a while. I agree she'd make a good young Lois, but with her voice and general girlish vibe, I have a hard time imagining her being older than Jenna Dewan, or as a seasoned reporter with a history with Cat Grant, for that matter.

Great choice, I want her as movie Lois when the inevitable reboot happens, but I'd take her here as who knows when they'll get aroiund to another Supes movie.

Oooh, I strongly disagree about Hoechlin. Henry is the boyish-looking Superman to me. I was shocked to learn Tyler's age because when I saw this pic:

I thought he could EASILY be pushing 40. If you put Henry's Supes side-by-side with Tyler's, I would straight-up assume Tyler was the older one. He has "old face" to me, lol.

I don't disagree with you that Cavill looks boyish as well, they both have that pristine pretty boy look to me.

She’s not a household name but I feel like Tatiana is already too big of a name for a CW show.

If we were talking about a regular role, I'd agree. But this is a one-off special guest appearance by an iconic female character. I feel like they might go bigger than usual for it. But maybe not, who knows.
