The Avengers Loki's army

The correct answer, when all the cards have been counted, will likely be "All of the Above."

Speculation and rumors from the start has been that Loki's army is a mixed bag of lots of different thugs and ne'er-do-wells from all corners of the cosmos --- some recognizable to fanboys, some not so much. I fully expect little bits 'n' pieces of Frost Giants here, Fire Demons there, Rock Trolls, Skrullies, Kree malcontents, Deviants, Badoon baddies, just about anything you can think of. I think Loki's mercenary army is gonna look like the Mos Eisley cantina regulars, or the entourage at Jabba's Palace.

A few do. But I think it's supposed to be a mix.

I'm now leaning towards Dark Elves of Svartalfheim led by Malekith. Why?

1) They were originally the "invading force" in the original Thor script. That idea was later scrapped for the Destroyer armor instead.
2) Take a look at the pictures of the army that have been released and them compare them to the various pics of the Dark Elves below. The match is pretty high: blue skin, tribal warrior attire, helmets, and some even have the skull like objects on their chests. This could be a very interesting lead.

Honestly I don't even care, I more concerned with seeing more shots of the heroes in action.

A violent death is bad enough, but to die face down with some Elvish freak's legs splayed out above you is just nasty.

The Kree. Loki tried to exterminate the Frost Giants and hates them as a race. Not to mention that they dont have that kind of tech. At one point i remember Feige saying when asked if the skrulls would be in the movie that they do own the rights to them. They prob changed it from the skrulls when the script leaked. but there is no way its frost giants. As i said i stand by the Kree

WHy would the Kree agree to invade Earth at the whim of Loki? Why would ANY alien race, for that matter?

I think Loki's army will consist of many different alien races.

Loki would have to convince 'someone' that Earth contains something very powerful that can assist them in achieving something great. For example the Cosmic Cube. In Captain America the tesseract was hidden on earth by Odin because no one would think it hidden on such a primitive planet.

Ultimate
The Ultimate Marvel imprint title Ultimate Fantastic Four features an alternate universe version of Thanos who is the ruler of Acheron, a vast empire consisting of thousands of worlds that exist in another plane of existence.[36] His son is Ronan the Accuser, and is in possession of a Cosmic Cube.[37]

According to the ultimate timeline Thanos once owned the cosmic cube but it was lost to him. If Thanos knew of the Cosmic cube being on earth i'm sure he would want nothing more than to grant Loki an Army to recover it. The fact that Acheron consists of thousands of words could be the excuse needed to bring in various creatures in Loki's army. In addition i'd love to see them bring in Ronan the accuser as the son who leads the army along side Loki.

Problem with that is, all those race's movie rights are currently under Fox (assuming Fox still holds the movie rights to Fantastic Four)...unless a deal was struck, i don't see how the Skrulls, Kree, or Ronan can be used. (which may also mean no Captain or Ms. Marvel in an Avengers movie anytime soon either)...

Marvel has the rights to the Skrulls.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say I think this deserves it's own thread. Every other character in Avengers has their own thread, and maybe it's time for the alien race to one.

I'm hoping we can get a mod to get on board with finally letting us have a Loki's army thread. Sharing this discussion with "does Cap's new helmet look like a blue *****" and "Will Hulk get enough screen time" arguments gets old.

Lol :woot:

Let's ask Vartha or Hunter...those guys are cool.

I like the idea of Dark Elves being the army. Makes a lot of sense.

I brought this up in the main thread and to my surprise no responses yet ..... but think back to Thor. What happened to the Casket of Ancient Winters? The last we saw of it, Loki used it on Heimdall and then made it disappear. We know from a run of the Thor comics that the Dark Elves used it when they invaded Earth. Perhaps Loki used it as a bargaining chip to get them to help him take Earth over.

I dunno. I just find the situation with the casket very peculiar.
